Boy: I shot an arrow into the air, It fells to earth, I knew not where

For so swiftly in its flew – the sight couldn’t follow in its flight

I breathed a song into the air It fell to earth I knew not where

For who has sight so keen and strong, that it can follow the flights of a song.

Long, long afterward in an oak I found an arrow still unbroken

And the song from beginning to end, I found again in the heart of a friend.

(Beautiful music)

VALENTINE CARD: Hello, dear friends. I’ m glad to see you all here. Do you know me? Have you recognized me?

- Are you a cat?           No, I am not.

Are you a postman?     No, I am not.

Are you a Valentine Card?  Yes, I am.

Valentine Card: I am special greetings for Saint Valentine’s Day, which is a festival of love and affection, romance and friendship. I am happy to let all people in your life to know how much you love them. But where are my helpers? The symbols of love and friendship, I wonder? Flowers, stars, sweets, birds, come here!

Flower: Here is a special Valentine

With lots of love for you

And since you are very special

Here are hugs and kisses, too!

Sweet: Love, love me do

You know I love you

I’ll always be true

So, please love me do.

Star: Someone to love

Somebody new

Someone to love

Someone like you

Flower: I hope that Valentine’s Day

Will bring you lots of fun

He thinks you are extra-specially nice,

And so, does everyone!

Bird: You are just the nicest kind of boy

So, grown up too,

No wonder that this Valentine

Brings lots of love to you.

Flower: The rose is red, the violets are blue

The honey is sweet and so are you!

My pen is black, my ink is pale

My love for you will never fail!

Valentine’s song

1. You’re special friend of mine

Friend of mine, friend of mine

You’re a special friend of mine

Be my Valentine

2. I love you so much

So much, so much

I love you so much

Be my Valentine

3. We’ll live together happily,

Happily, happily

We’ll live together happily

Would be my Valentine

P: Your hair is so fair; your eyes are so blue

That’s why I can’t stop loving you!

P: If I could be postman

For just one single time,

I’d choose to carry Valentines

So lovely and so fine

I would not mind the heavy load

Or mind my tired feet

If I could scatter happiness

All up and down the street.

P: To each and every friend of mine

I’ll send a lovely valentine

Mom, Dad, Sis, and Brother too

Will receive a heart that says,

“I love you”

P: Now Valentine is here

We greet his birthday with a cheer

For happiness from friend to friend

Flies with the Valentines we send.

Today as Valentines go out

To people near and far

This one I’m sending right to you

To say how nice, you are.

P: If apples were pears

And peaches were plums

And the rose had a different name

If tigers were bears

And fingers were thumbs

I’d love you just the same

P: Valentine so bright and gay,

I am sending out today,

With the message, “I love you,”

Hoping that you love me, too.

P: Valentines, valentines

Red, white and blue

I’ll make a nice one

And send it to you

P: Out of snow cloud, cold and grey

Something dropped on St. Valentine’s Day,

Whirling and twirling and soft and light

Like little letters all dainty and white,

And I guess the sky children were sending down,

This Valentine straight to the children in town

Great Valentines to the parents.

I want to tell you now that

Valentine’s Day is here,

That I appreciate you more

With every passing yea-

I realize more fully

All the loving things you’ve done

And my heart is filled with gratitude

For each and everyone-

And in my hart are wishes

That your Valentine Day will be

As happy for you

As you have made so many days for me

With Love and Thanks

Mary Catherine Parson

I have a little Valentine that someone sends to me

It’s pink and white, and red and blue

And pretty as can be

Forget-me-nots are around the edge and tiny roses too

And such a lovely piece of lace the very palest blue

And in the center, there is a heart

As red as red can be and it is written all in gold:

To you, with love from me.”

Song: You and me, we are the real friends.

You and me, we are the real friends

You and me, I want to the dance

You and me, begin this summer ball

Invite me, invite me my boy

You and me, we are the real friends

You and me, I want you to the dance

Our hearts are full of joy

Invite me, invite me, and invite my girl!

T: do you know the legend of how St.Valentine’s  Day began? Tell us please!

When the Roman emperor Claudius the II needed soldiers, he made a law against marrying, because he felt that marriage made men to stay at home instead of fighting wars. But the kind priest named Valentine, seeing the love of young couples, married some secretly, but he was exposed and executed.

We joined our hands together

The wonder of the century we’ll make

At one moment the light is over

And St. Valentine will come to us.

Pupil: Oh! Look! I can’t believe my eyes! It is St Valentine himself!

  • You are welcome, patron of lovers!

St. Valentine: My children! I’ve come from the distant past to remind you of kindness and love, friendship and patience in your wicked world.

Girl: Oh, Valentine, we have heard about you a lot. You and only you can help us.

Boy: The imperator didn’t allow us to merry. Nobody agrees to do it.

Girl: But we can’t live without each other. Please, help us!

My daughter and my son! I declare you husband and wife!

S. Priest! You have been discovered and condemn to death!

S: To prison! To the tower!

St. Valentine: But I am not a thief, not killer, I have just helped to the people!

This is my daughter. She is blind. She will probably never see the light or trees.

Daughter: Here is some water and bread, poor prisoner!

Valentine: Thank you very much, lovely child. But what was happened with you?

Daughter: I am blind. I have never seen the sky and the sun.

St. Valentine: Poor girl!  I’ll help her by working miracle.

Let these eyes will live the darkness

And changes the day and night

She will see herself.

And she won’t to be blind any more

So, she will be happy once more.

Girl: I’m so grateful to you. Even in prison, you, Valentine, showed your love for everyone and restored my sight!

Valentine: Unfortunately, tomorrow on the 14th of February I will die. But I want to tell you: I love you. I’m your Valentine.

-It’s very sad legend! But I know another happy story, where Valentine helped to the lovers.

Song “My Bony is over the ocean”.

My Bonny is over the ocean,

My Bonny is over the sea,

My Bonny is over the ocean,

Oh, bring back my Bonny to me

Refrain;

Bring back, bring back, bring back

Bring back my Bonny to me, to me

Last night as I lay on my pillow,

Last night as I lay on my bed,

Last night as I lay on my pillow,

And dreamed that my Bonny was dead

Refrain:

The winds have blown the ocean,

The winds have blown over the sea,

The winds have blown over the ocean,

And brought back my Bonny to me.

Refrain:

Modern poem

I saw you come into the classroom

Blue eyes and silk golden hair

There’s nobody to compare

You’re in my heart like flowers in bloom

I always hope

It won’t be cold

It won’t be cold in our souls

There’re no answers to my calls

All SMS are delayed

It’s an awful trick you played

And life looks like a rainy fall

He: My darling, I ask you to be awfully kind

I’m waiting your underneath

I’m going to say that I have a good mind

To cover your face with a lot of kisses

You touch me so deeply, break heart into peaces

My life is senselessly free

I can’t sleep and breath, I’m thirsting for kisses

I wait for your meeting with me.

She: Be quiet! The only thing left is to hope and to wait

The only hope is to believe in heaven gate.

There will ball you ought to know

A great deal fun to us will come

And my father’ll choose the husband to me

My heart would free for any one

My love for you, for only you

Be quiet, be quiet!

Song: «

If it takes forever I will wait for you.

For a thousand summers I will wait for you,

Til you’re back beside me ‘til I’m holding you

Til I hear you sigh here in my arms.

Anywhere you wander anywhere you go,

Every day remember how I love you so,

In your heart believe what in my heart I know

That forever more I’ll wait for you.

If takes forever I will wait for you.

For a thousand summers I will wait for you.

Til you’re here beside me til I’m touching you

And forever more

Sharing you love.

Poem

Let me call you sweetheart

I am in love with you

Let me hear your whisper

That you love me too.

Keep the love light glowing

In your eyes so true.

Let me call you sweetheart

I am loving with you.

Song: Susanne

I come from Alabama with my banjo on my knee

And I’m going to Louisiana, my true love to see.

It rained all night the day I left, the weather it was dry,

The sun so hot, I froze to death, Susanne, don’t you cry

Chorus: Oh, Susanne.

Oh, don’t you cry for me

For I come from Alabama

With a banjo on my knee.

I had a dream another night, when everything was still

I thought I saw Susanne dear coming down the hill.

A buckwheat cake was in her mouth, a tear was in her eye.

Says I, “I’m coming from the South, Susanne, don’t you cry.”

One of the earliest popular symbols of the day was Cupid with his bow and arrow. It goes back to Roman times too. Here is the story the Roman told about him.

Storyteller: Cupid was the son of a beautiful Goddess Venus. Wherever Venus went Cupid went too. He was a merry little guy and liked to see people happy. Cupid went around shooting golden arrows into the hearts of the people. As soon as the arrow hit them they fell in love. Venus, Cupid’s mother had a mirror. She looked at mirror every day.

VENUS (is looking at herself in the mirror, the other girl is doing the same gesture- she is her mirror.)

And whom do I see? Somebody, that looks just like me.

When I smile that somebody smiles too, she seems to follow everything I do.

I turn and she turns, I stand and she stands, and if I run away, away will run she.

And do you know why? Because, she is really me.

Mirror, mirror on the wall who is the fairest of all? (They dance, the mirror disappears in the dance. Venus sits down crying, Cupid appears.)

Cupid: What’s wrong? What’s happened, my dear? What’s the matter? Why are you crying so bitterly?

Venus: I am crying…I am crying because I’ve lost my golden mirror. Where is it? I’ve lost it. It’s gone…

Cupid: You’ve lost your golden mirror? Please, don’t cry. I am going to search for your golden mirror.

Story teller: The Cupid flew over the meadow   where some sheep were grazing. A shepherd stood among them.

Cupid: Oh, what’s that? Beams of lights are flashing into my eyes. What’s that? I see that light is coming from something into the shepherd’s hand. What’s that? Stop that! Stop! Don’t…! Oh, it’s my mother’s golden mirror. How could he look with his ugly face in my mother’s golden mirror? I must take the mirror away from him!

Storyteller: He stuck the mirror from the shepherd’s hands. It fell to the ground and broke into hundreds of golden pieces. Plants with beautiful blossoms sprang up where the mirror was broken. Later people called this flower “VENUS LOOKING GLASS”

The Song “Venus looking glass”

Venus looking glass, every morning you greet me

Small and white, clean and bright

You look happy to meet me

Blossoms of snow, may you bloom and grow.

Bloom and grow forever,

Venus looking glass, bless my homeland forever.

Storyteller: They say, flowers are the symbols of beauty and love. So, people give flowers on Valentine’s Day, to show their love and affection. And we prepare these beautiful flowers for our dearest and nearest.

-P: let’s make a competition how you know about the Valentine’s symbols. You must match words with similar meanings.

A part of your body                       chocolates

A heart-shaped card                      lace

A man who cared for people         arrow

A boy who shoots arrow                bouquet

A kind of flower                            smile

A bunch of flowers                        rose

A friendly look                              Cupid

Used with a bow                            St Valentine

A fancy material                            valentine

A kind of candy                             heart

Fair: You know there are a lot of symbols of this day. We’d like to introduce you with their meanings.

-A fan shows that you open your heart to a person you love.

-A ribbon shows that you to be tired to another special person.

-A ring is a symbol of love and binding to another person. When a man gives a ring to a woman they’re engaged.

-Lace shows that you want a special person to be caught in a net of your heart.

- A red mitten is a sign that you don’t like someone.

-. Now, we’d like to see how well you know Valentine symbols.

1. What is to get red mitten on Valentine’s Day? (It means that she or he doesn’t love him or her)

2. What is Cupid with his arrow and bow? (It’s a symbol of love)

3. What is the lace on a Valentine’s Card? (It means you have caught my heart in a net.)

4. What is the ribbon on a Valentine Card? (It means you are tied up, you are my girl)

Pupil: Can you say about the magic, which was tiered on Valentine’s Eve?

1- One young lady pinned four bay leaves to the corners of her pillow and one in the middle. Then she dreamed of her sweetheart. She thought that meant she would be married to him soon.

2-In Italy a young girl would stand at her window for a half an hour before sunrise. If no one went by, she believed that year she would not merry, if she saw a man pass, she thought she would marry him or someone who looked like him.

3-In Germany girls try another way of learning whom they would marry. They planted onions on St. Valentine’s Day. Each girl tagged several dry onions in a corner near the fireplace. She thought she would marry the man whose onion sprouted first.

Fair, now let’s match the pairs of famous lovers:

Adam              Caesar

Napoleon        Juliet

John Lennon   Ludmila

Rat Buttler      Isolda

Tristan            Scarlet O’Hara

Ruslan             Joko

Cleopatra        Josehpine

Romeo            Eve

-P. We see that you are good in arts and literature, but I can’t imagine our party without poems and songs about love, especially undying and everlasting symbol of people’s life Extract from Romeo and Juliette by William Shakespeare.

Juliet: Tis but thy name that is my enemy

Thou art thyself though, not a Montaque?

What’s Montaque? It is nor hand, nor food,

Nor arm, nor face, nor any other part,

Belonging to a man, oh, be some other name

What’s in a name? That which we call a rose

By any other name would smell as sweet

So, Romeo would, were he not Romeo called

Retain that dear perfection which he owes

Without that title Romeo daff thy name

And for that name, which is no part of thee

Take all myself!

Romeo: She speaks. Oh, speak again, bright angel:

Juliet: Oh, Romeo, deny thy father and refuse thy name.

And I no longer be a Capulet.

Romeo: Shall I hear more or shall I speak at this?

Juliet: What’s a Montaque? It is nor hand, nor food, nor arm, nor face, nor any other part belonging to a man. Oh, be some other name: What’s in a name? That, which we call a rose. Be any other name would smell as sweet.

Romeo: Call me, but love and I’ll be new baptized. Henceforth I never will be Romeo. My name is hateful to myself.

Because it is an enemy to thee.

  1. To Margot Heinemann by John Cornford

Heart of the heartless world,

Dear heart, the thought of you

Is the pain at my side?

The shadow that chills my view.

The wind rises in the evening,

Reminds that autumn is near.

I am afraid to lose you,

I am afraid of my fear

And if bad luck should lay my strength

Into the shallow grave,

Remember all the good you can:

Don’t forget my love.

Let’s sing together song “Yesterday”, which was performed by famous Beatles.

Yesterday, all my troubles seemed so far away

Now it looks as though they’ve here to stay

Oh, I believe in yesterday

Suddenly, I’m not half the man I used to be

There’s shadow hanging over me

Oh, yesterday, come suddenly

Why she had to go I don’t know she wouldn’t say

I said, something wrong now I long for yesterday

Yesterday, love was such an easy game to play

Now I need a place to hide away

Oh, I believe in yesterday

To a false friend by Thomas Moor

Our hands have met, but not our hearts,

Our hands will never meet again,

Friends, if I have ever been

Friends, I cannot now remind,

I only know I loved you once

I only know I loved in vain,

Our hands have met, but not our hearts,

Our hands will never meet again

But I’d like to believe in real friends, people of Great Britain can’t imagine holidays without singing song devoted to the friendship. The words of this song were written by famous Scottish poet Robert Burns.

Song Auld Lang Syne

Should auld acquaintance be forgot

And never brought to mind?

Should auld acquaintance be forgot

And days of auld lang syne

For auld lang syne, my dear friend,

For auld lang syne,

We’ll take a cup of kindness yet,

For auld lang syne

Red, red, red, rose by Robert Burns

Oh, my love is like a red, red rose

That’s newly sprung in June

O, my love is like a melody

That’s sweetly played in tune

As fair art thou, my bonny lass

So deep in love am I

And I will love thee still my dear

Till a’the seas gang dry

Till a seas gang dry my dear

And rock melt wi’ the sun

And I will love thee still my dear,

While the sands o’ life shall run

And fare thee weel, my only love

And fare thee weel a while!

And I will come again my love

Tho’ it was ten thousand miles

During all times people fall in love, a lot of masterpieces were devoted to this theme, I think that it will be very interesting to know how great Pushkin’s poem sounds in English.

4.Tatyana’s letter by Alexander Pushkin

That I am writing you this letter

Will tell you all and you are free

Now to despise me and how better

I wonder, could you punish me?

But you, if you are sparing ever

One drop of pity for my fate

Will not have late me desolate

I wished at first, believe me, never

To say a word, and then my shame

Had been unknown to you, small blame

Could I have hoped, but once a week?

Here in our village, when you came

To see you, and to hear you speak.

Let’s devote this song to all lovers

Song: “I’ve just called

No New year ‘s day to celebrate,

No chocolate covered candy hearts to give away,

No first of spring, no song to sing,

In fact, it’s just another ordinary day

No April rain, no flowers, bloom

No wedding Saturday within the month of June,

But what is it is something true

Made up of these three words I ‘d like to say to you.

Refrain:

I’ve just called to say I love you

I’ve just called to say, how much I care

I’ve just call to say, I love you,

And I mean it from the bottom of my heart

So, dear friend, share your loving fillings with friends and families. May your love and friendship grow and touch everyone you meet. I wish you to love and to be loved.

4.Let’s see how some of you can demonstrate their fillings of these expressions:

I love you!               I am crazy about you!

I don’t like you!            I don’t care about you!

I am in your net!
