Цель урока: Развитие умения говорения по теме: “My country” (Russia)          

Задачи:

• Образовательные:

1) развитие познавательных УУД через анализ текста, анализ высказываний, систематизацию информации;

2) развитие регулятивных УУД посредством целеполагания, рефлексии, работы в группах/парах/ индивидуально, выполнения заданий с самопроверкой и взаимопроверкой;

3) развитие коммуникативных УУД путем построения диалогического высказывания;

4) развитие личностных УУД посредством формирования представления о здоровом образе жизни и ответственного отношения к своему здоровью.

• Развивающие:        

1) развитие памяти, внимания, воображения

2) развитие логического мышления

3) развитие общей эрудиции учащихся

4) развитие навыков работы в сотрудничестве

• Воспитательные:

1) повышение мотивации к изучению предмета

2) развитие кругозора учащихся

Планируемые результаты

Предметные:

* Ввести и актуализировать лексический материал по теме;

* Развить фонетические и грамматические навыки в рамках изучаемой темы.

* развить умение работать в команде для достижения цели;

* развить умение обобщать и анализировать информацию;

* сформировать и развивать умение ораторского мастерства, умения выступать перед аудиторией;

Личностные:

* способствовать развитию культуры общения;

* способствовать развитию культуры здорового образа жизни и ответственности за своё здоровье (динамическая пауза)

№ 1 Match the riddles with the answers:

     a birch [`b ɜː tʃ] tree           an ear flaphat = an ushanka hat          a nesting doll = Matryoshka

1) It’s green in summer, but it’s multicoloured in autumn. It grows in the forest. What is it?

2) A lot of tourists buy a traditional doll made of wood. It’s a mother-doll with daughters inside it. What is it?

3) You wear it on your head, when it’s very cold. What is it?

№ 2 What do these things symbolize? What will we talk today about?

№ 4 Read the given plan. Do you agree with the plan? Is it logical?

Our plan: 

1) Read the text and answer the questions about Russia and its nature;

2) Do Grammar exercises (“the” definite article with the geographical names);

3) Dance to a traditional music;

4) Listen to the text about travelling to one of the Russian cities;

5) Role play the conversation about travelling to one of the Russian cities;

6) Make a conclusion;

7) Define homework.

№ 5 Now let us get started. Pronounce the geographical names correctly:

Europe [ˈjʊərəp]; the Urals [ˈjʊərəlz] (the Ural Mountains); the Volga [ˈvɒlɡə];     Asia [ˈeɪʃə]; The Caspian Sea [ˌkæspiən ˈsiː]; The Baltic Sea [ˌbɔːltɪk ˈsiː];     The Black Sea [ˌblæk ˈsiː ]                                            The Pacific Ocean [pəˌsɪf.ɪk ˈəʊʃn];]; The Arctic Ocean [ˌɑːktɪk ˈəʊʃn]

№ 6 Read the text to be ready to talk about the nature of Russia.

Start reading the text, then stop and ask one of your classmates to go on.  

My country (Russia)

            Russia is the biggest country in the world. It is situated on two continents: Europe and Asia. The Urals (The Ural Mountains) form a natural border between the continents. Russia is a very rich country. There are lots of mountains, rivers, lakes and forests in my country, some of which are very beautiful.

           The Volga is the longest river in Europe. It flows into the Caspian Sea. There are beautiful old towns on its banks. Practically all of them are interesting places, famous for their history. Seas and oceans wash Russia in the north, south, east and west. The Black Sea is in the west. The Arctic Ocean washes the country in the north and in the east is the Pacific Ocean.  

           The plant and animal worlds of my country are also very rich. There are a lot of different animals, birds and plants in our forests, fields and mountains. Russia is also rich in gold, silver and other minerals.

          One Russian symbol is the Russian national flag. This flag has three wide stripes on it. The stripes are white, blue and red. These colours have always been symbolic in Russia: white – noble and sincere, blue – honest and devoted – devoted to friends, family and to the country. The red colour has always meant love and bravery.  

          Another symbol of Russia which all Russian people know and love is the birch tree. You can find these trees everywhere. People sing beautiful songs about birch trees. The nature of Russia is very beautiful.

№ 7 Read the question and ask your classmate:

1. Russia is the biggest country in the world, isn’t it?

2. Russia is a very rich country. What is it rich in?

3. What river is the longest in Europe?

4. What seas and oceans wash Russia?

5. What can you tell your classmates about the Russian flag?

6. What other symbols of Russia do you know?  

№ 8 Play: Domino  

1) Who is the first to start the game?  Each player throws a dice. The player with the highest number goes first.  If two or more players have the highest number, they should throw a dice again to decide who starts.  

2) Lay the first domino.

3) Take turns adding dominoes:

For example:

Remember: you cannot say: The Europe – It`s a mistake and you cannot lay the dominoes like that:

If a domino doesn’t fit, you should keep it.         

The person becomes the winner, when he/she lays the last domino.

№ 9 Now let us make a small exercise and dance

№ 10  Listen* to the dialog and fill in the gaps:

Liz: Have you ever been to 1) …. ?

Olga: No, I haven’t. It`s only my dream. And you?

Liz: Last summer we went to 2) ….  via Moscow.

Olga: You are lucky! Did you see a lot of 3) … ? Did you go to 4) … ?

Liz: No, I didn’t. We were in the city only one day.

Olga: Only one day? What a pity! Did you go on an excursion about the city?

Liz: Yes, we did, but it was rainy and we couldn’t walk a lot.

Olga: Did you see 5) …  and 6) …?

Liz: Yes, it was fantastic! I hope to go there again.

№ 11 Role play your conversation according to the given plan for you and your partner:  

Pupil 1: 

• Tell your partner that you have never been to St. Petersburg.
• Ask your partner if he/she has visited the Russian museum
• Ask your partner about an excursion about the city
• Find out what your partner liked the most

Pupil 2:

• Tell your partner that you visited St. Petersburg at the weekend
• Tell your partner about your visit to the Russian museum
• Tell your partner that you had an excursion and visited Palace Square, the Square of Arts and Isaak`s Square
• Tell your partner what you liked the most

№ 12 Now choose what you have done and make the conclusion:

• I have learned new words
• I have found out something interesting
• I have done several exercises to make my English better
• I have danced to a traditional Russian music
• I have talked to my classmates in English
• I can speak about Russia

№ 13 You have received an e-mail from your English–speaking pen friend Tom:

        … Greetings from Scotland! I am doing my school project about Russia and its culture. I think we have a lot to talk about. I have got news for you. In 3 months I am going to visit Russia. I need your advice. What places would you recommend me visiting in Russia? What is special in your native city? What traditional food should I try?

Write him an e-mail and answer his 3 questions. Write 100 –120 words. Remember the rules of e-mail writing.

№ 14 Write a composition (10-12 sentences) about any Russian city according to the plan:

• write when it was founded and who founded the city
• if there are any rivers, lakes, mountains or forests
• what sights you can visit there
• what museums and monuments you can find in the city
• what famous people from the city you can name
• where you can go on an excursion
• what traditional food you can try there
• what is special about the city
• why you have chosen this city

№ 15 Check yourselves according to the answers:

Liz: Have you ever been to 1) Moscow?

Olga: No, I haven’t. It`s only my dream. And you?

Liz: Last summer we went to 2) the Black Sea via Moscow.

Olga: You are lucky! Did you see a lot of 3) sights? Did you go to 4) the Bolshoy Theatre?

Liz: No, I didn’t. We were in the city only one day.

Olga: Only one day? What a pity! Did you go on an excursion about the city?

Liz: Yes, we did, but it was rainy and we couldn’t walk a lot.

Liz: Yes, it was fantastic! I hope to go there again.
