• Обучающие: способствовать расширение филологического кругозора учащихся; знаний учеников о различных профессиях в нашей стране и за рубежом
• Развивающие: содействовать развитию языковых способностей учеников: фонетического и интонационного слуха, способности имитации; готовности к иноязычному общению; развитию языковой догадки и языковой реакции учеников
• Воспитательные:  способствовать воспитанию положительного отношения к культуре и традициям страны изучаемого языка; культуры речи, толерантности, терпимости и уважения к мнению других

Ход урока

1. Приветствие и организационный момент.

2. Введение в тему. Учащимся предлагается прочитать стихотворение и определить тему, цель и задачи урока.

T: Look at the blackboard and read the poem «I Want to Ве». Слайд 1.

Ss: (read one by one)

Some people often say to mе:

"Have уоu decided what yоu want to bе?"

I usually answer, "I don't know,"

But it isn't really so.

I want to win аn Olympic race,

I want to see the Earth from space,

I want to travel to Katmandu

I want to bе rich and famous, too.

I want to bе оn Hollywood's screen,

I want to invent а new machine,

I want to bе very clever and wise,

I want to win the Nobel prize..

T: What do you think we are going to talk about at our lesson? What is the theme of our lesson?

Ss: (sample answers) We are going to speak about our future/plans/jobs/professions. Слайд 2.

T: Is this topic important to you? Why?

Ss: It is important because soon we will have to make the choice of our future professions.

T: It is not easy to choose a profession. Today you will get some tips on the first steps of choosing a future career. Do you need such information?

 Ss: Yes, we do. It will help us to make the right choice.

T: So, what are the objectives of this lesson?

Ss: We will learn new words, get information from exercises and dialogues about jobs. Слайд 3.

-There are a lot of jobs and they can be divided into categories.  Look at the job categories. Match the jobs to the categories. You may use the wordlist 3b.

-Add as many jobs as you can to each category. Compare your answers with the partner. Add the words you do not have to your list.

Key: 1) an artist, an author, 2) a gardener, a carpenter, a plumber, 3) a headmaster, 4) a secretary, 5) a lawyer, a journalist, an engineer, 6) an actor, a dancer, 7) an officer, a fire fighter,  8) a florist, a beautician, 9) a vet, a doctor, a dentist.

4. Введение новой лексики и формирование коммуникативных умений посредством выполнения упр. 2, стр. 48.

- Read what the people say and find at least two jobs that they can’t do. Report to the class:

Jane: “I get seasick easily”

Tony: “I can’t stand being behind the desk’

Pat: “I don’t want to go to University”

Pete: “I’m not good at working with my hands”

Mary: “I don’t want to work in the evenings or at weekends”

John: “I can’t stand working shifts”

Sue: “I can’t stand the sight of blood”

Bob: “I can’t work for others”

Example: Jane can’t be an flight attendant or a sailor.

5. Использование приобретенных знаний на практике. Развитие навыков монологической речи. Работа в группах.

-Work in groups. Choose a job from ex.1&2 and describe it to a person who is choosing a career. Think of personal characteristics the job requires.

(Слайд 4 с прилагательными: sociable, creative, patient, brave, polite, active, attentive, confident , determined, fair, imaginative, responsible, tolerant, understanding, careful, courageous, intelligent, outgoing, hardworking, energetic, skillful)

Sample answer: If you want to be an architect you should get higher education to become a professional person. You have to study art, technology, drawing and maths. This job is full time. It asks for a lot of responsibility, but it pays good salary. An architect has to be creative, responsible, clever, self-organized and hard-working.

 -Imagine you are an employment council. You have a resume of an applicant with a number of qualities. Look at them carefully and offer the most suitable profession. Prove your idea. (Карточки по 1 на группу. Приложение 1).

6. Объяснение домашнего задания.

-Write a short article about your parents’ jobs or about a job of your dream. You may write about conditions of it, training it requires, good and bad points of it, personal qualities necessary to succeed in it etc.

7. Развитие навыков смыслового чтения и аудирования. Упр.5, 6, 7, стр. 49.

T: When can a person start work? Can you work when at school or university? Can you benefit from working while studying?

Ss: (sample answer) Yes, we can start work at the age of 14. It can be a part-time job. It can be useful to know your positive and negative points, to see if you like this kind of work, to get some money.

-Read the first and the last exchanges of the dialogue. What is it about? Listen and check.

Read the dialogue. What kind of job is Ann applying for? What adjectives best describe her? Give reasons.

8. Перенос полученных знаний на другую ситуацию. Осознание личного выбора.

-What would you like to be? Do you know what type of job you would like to have? Answer the questions and see what our career specialist says about you! You must put a cross in the box marked Yes or No. (Анкета. Приложение 2).

If your score is between 5-45

You enjoy working with people and helping them. You are also a practical person. One of these careers will suit you: teacher, doctor, nurse, social worker, psychologist, zookeeper, policeman

If your score is between 45-90

You like to work quietly and concentrate on the task. You prefer to work on your own. One of these careers will suit you: laboratory technician, librarian, artist, bank clerk, hairdresser, architect.

If your score is between 90-135

You like to be very busy. You like to be with people and you like organizing things for them. One of the following careers will suit you: travel agent, journalist, hotel manager, salesperson, firefighter.
