 Конкурс знатоков.  The Competition of the Experts ” Young Bookworms .”

Цель: Мотивировать учащихся к изучению английского языка посредством  чтения произведений художесвенной литературы англоязычных авторов.

Задачи:1.Популяризировать всемирно  известные художественные персонажи путем занимательных  конкурсов .2.Познакомить с популярными пословицами и поговорками на английском языке про книги и чтение. 3.Развивать любознательность и познавательный интерес учащихся к чтению аутентичной литературы. 4.Практиковать учащихся в работе со справочной литературой, в частности с “Оxford Wordpower Dictionary”.5.Развивать навыки стихосложения с предложенными фразами и словами.

Оборудование: Художественное оформление доски и  стен кабинета портретами англоязычных писателей и поэтов,цитатами известных личностей про книги и чтение,презентация, карточки с заданиями,полка в виде открытой книги, куда ученики в конце конкурса кладут листочки с предложениями ,подборка отрывков из кинофильмов по произведениям англоязычных авторов.

Task 2.Read the definitions from the “ Oxford Wordpower Dictionary” and make new derivatives with the word –book- :

• a narrow piece of card that you put between the pages of a book so that you can find the same place again easily
• a person who likes reading books very much
• a piece of furniture with shelves to keep books on
• a person whose job is selling books
• a shop that sells books
• a type of small shop,which is open at the front ,selling newspapers, magazines and books
• a small thin book , usually with a soft cover

Task 4. Match  the   Reference books   and their functions:

- A Dictionary    - gives accurate instructions for urgent actions in extremal situations to save someone’ life

- A  Manual                 -shows the current date, weekday,month and year              

- A Guidebook            - a collection of different maps for visual studying of the world

- A Textbook               -the Holy Book of the Christians

 - A Cookbook             -gives exercises to train writing and oral skills

- An Encyclopedia      - helps to cook different dishes

- The Bible-               - gives a list of the words of a language in alphabetical order and their meanings

- An Atlas                     - explains how to do or to use something, for example a telephone

- A Calendar                - gives the information about different people or things

- A Handbook on First Aid  - gives the necessary information for tourists about places of interest, cafes, hotels  and means of transport.

Task 7. Reflection. Сomplete the sentences , giving your arguments for reading books on the narrow sheets of paper. Read them aloud  and put them on the  bookshelf : Start  your statements with the sentence :
