«How beautiful the world is»
Цели и задачи урока:
- Совершенствовать навыки учащихся в монологической речи и аудировании.
- Познакомить с красотой и удивительным климатом субтропиков.
- Активизировать учебно-познавательную деятельность учащихся.
Тип урока: конференция
Оборудование урока: компьютер, мультимедийный проектор, экран, презентация.

Teacher: Dear friends! Welcome to our lesson «How beautiful the world is». Do you know where the 24th Winter Olympic Games will be held ? Of course, you do. We are going to speak about the beautiful nature of the Northern Caucasus. With its subtropical climate Sochi gives unique opportunities for holding Olympiad 2014.(слайд 1)
Environment group of our School Council has recently visited Sochi. Today at the sitting they are going to make their reports.

Student 1:
Sochi is a city in south-east Russia on the shore of the Black Sea . Situated in a spectacular natural setting between the Caucasus Mountains and the Black Sea coastline, Sochi has been a popular Russian resort area for nearly two centuries. With a permanent population of roughly 315,000 inhabitants (2004), millions more arrive each year for its favorable climate, beautiful landscapes, beaches, parks, health resorts, mineral springs, festivals and downhill skiing. Student 2:
Currently it is regaining its reputation as a world class retreat. It is now serviced by a large international airport and sea port as well as numerous 4-star hotels and resorts. The city is home to the annual Film Festival "Kinotavr" as well as a world class tennis school that has spawned the careers of such notable players as Maria Sharapova and Yevgeny Kafelnikov.( слайд 3)
Student 3:
Although most tourists flock to the city in the summer, the winter season also attracts skiers to the Krasnaya Polyana (Red Glade)resort. The resort boasts world class facilities, providing equipment rental, instruction, and ski lifts on a mountain suited for beginners and experts alike.
Sochi a fashionable sea-side resort, Sochi is one of Russia's most popular tourist destinations. If you can imagine a place where the sea is bathed with golden light every sunset - a place where the sands and pebbles of the beach can be enjoyed with a backdrop of snow-capped mountains and where you can enjoy almost every luxury that matters - you will most likely be picturing Sochi.
Sochi this is one of Russia's finest and grandest cities, a place where time stops ticking as you while away your days at one of the many fine spas, mineral baths or sanatoriums.
Sochi is a place quite unlike any other. It arguably has the best weather in Russia as well as some of the best natural springs in the country. Its exquisite beauty and its development as a sea-side resort Sochi has lead to it gaining the name 'the Russian Riviera'.(слайд 4)

No matter what time of the year you come to Sochi, you find the same picture — sunshine and greenery all over. There are few cities in the world as rich in greenery and flora as Sochi. Three-quarters of its territory are under parks and gardens with 85 percent of evergreens.
The city is blessed with 300 days of sunshine. Squeezed between the Caucasus Mountains and the Black Sea, Sochi boasts a mild subtropical climate with the average summer temperatures of 25 Celcius. Very often the Black Sea temperatures in the summer are even higher than those of the air and swimming is enjoyable from May till October.
Full of greenery and open space, Sochi is the perfect place to relax. The opportunities for recreation and relaxation are endless. Over 250 hotels, health and spa centers offer their facilities to numerous guests the whole year.(5)
Student 5:
It's a unique Russian city where the lush subtropical vegetation and the warm sea are close neighbors to snow-capped mountains. Within 2 hours of Sochi center with its pebble beaches and inviting waters of the Black Sea, you can be skiing mountain ranges, enjoying some of the most beautiful and unspoiled countryside — the ski resort of Krasnaya Polyana.
Come and savour many magical moments in Sochi, an easy-going, friendly resort city, offering a great many pleasures in its subtropical warmth. A city which will surprise, delight and entertain all those who are prepared to enjoy every corner of it. Whatever your age, you'll never be short of something to do or see in Sochi. It's time to relax, explore and adore the wonders of this God-blessed city.(слайд 6)

The city of Sochi is a candidate to host the 2014 Olympics. The Winter Games could be unique if they are staged in Sochi, since only here does seacoast scenery blend together with snow-covered mountains to create ideal conditions for winter sports.(слайд 7) Student 7: |
The Russian Government is actively supporting the Sochi-2014 bid. It has adopted a Special Federal Programme (SFP) with a budget of more than 300 billion rubles. As a result of the SFP, by the year 2014, Sochi will turn into an all-year resort of world standing, with a modern infrastructure and a developed hotel network. Over the next seven years, with the federal programme’s help, Sochi will see the construction of new roads, hotels, modern engineering communications, as well as modern resort and sports structures. All of this will give the city an opportunity to host visitors from around the world. Hosting the 2014 Winter Games also will allow the city to create an international centre for winter sports, where athletes from Russia and neighbouring countries – nations with a combined population of 200 million people – could train.(слайд 8) |

You will listen to the information about him and do exercises on the sheets of paper. Now listen to the CD and answer the questions: What do you most admire about E.Plushchenko? What character qualities help him to win all those competitions?
