Цели:

образовательная- формирование интереса к культуре англо-говорящих стран, совершенствование коммуникативных навыков обучающихся, лексических навыков по теме «Англоговорящие страны», «Транспорт»;

развивающая- формирование умения воспринимать иноязычную речь на слух с извлечением необходимой информации, развитие навыков поискового чтения, говорения, развитие навыков работы в группе, в сотрудничестве, .

воспитательная- расширение кругозора учащихся, приобщение учащихся к культуре и традициям англоговорящих стран, воспитание любви к родине, повышение мотивации к изучению иностранного языка.

 

Оборудование: схемы-опоры с фразами для говорения, мультимедийная установка для демонстрации презентации, учебник английского языка (УМК М.З. Биболетовой «Enjoy English ), аудиоприложение, карточки команд с названиями стран, дидактический раздаточный материал с таблицей и послетекстовыми заданиями

ХОД УРОКА

1.Слово учителя. Приветствие.

Good morning, good morning

Good morning to you!

Good morning, dear children!

I am glad to see you!

Т:  Today we will not have an ordinary lesson, you have learnt much about English- speaking countries, and your task was to revise all the information from your textbooks.
Now you should do all your best to show your knowledge of the material. But it will not be boring, as we will illustrate all  the  information.

2. Определение темы и целей урока

Children, look at the presentation in our classroom, read its title and try to guess the theme of our lesson today, please.

You are right. You see the maps and the flags of New Zealand, Canada, Australia, the UK, the USA and the flags of these countries. And what language do people speak in these countries?

You are quite right. They speak English.

And the theme of our lesson is “ Round the English – speaking countries”.

So, today you will learn about the countries, their capitals, population and their sights. Let’s try to speak about transport too, as we are going to travel!

You are to make groups of 3 or 4  and choose   one   of  the English-speaking countries you will tell us about.

Учащиеся делятся на микрогруппы, каждой дается название одной из стран, по которым планируется провести заочное путешествие.
Необходимая  информация  для высказывания содержится в слайдах презентации к уроку.

4. Речевая зарядка. Game  «Snowball»

Let`s play the game «Snowball». We shall remember the adjectives that can describe English. What words can help us to describe it? ( It is easy, international, modern, working, main, popular, important, powerful, difficult, interesting, amazing)

The first pupil will name one word, the second pupil will repeat and add another word, the next pupil will repeat two words and say one more. The winner is the pupil who will repeat the chain of all the words on the topics.

5.Слово учителя об английском языке.

English is very popular today. Why? How do you think ? It is the international language of business, science, sport, medicine, politics, Internet, computer technologies and travelling. Why do you study English?

 I study English to

-travel abroad

-get a better job

-communicate with people in the world

-understand films and songs in English

-do business

-know computer better

There are different reasons why people all over the world learn Englih. Let`s listen to the auding and find out why Michael study English.

Изучение новых слов exciting, vital, crucial, solve.

Поабзацное  чтение текста учениками.

8. Поисковое чтение ( послетекстовые упражнения).

-поиск словосочетаний в тексте ( жизненные проблемы, ре6шить проблемы, смотреть достопримечательности, , улучшить английский, завести новых друзей)

-подобрать синонимы к слову tour (travelling, journey, trip)

Hello! I’m from the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland or UK. My motto is “Be happy! Don’t worry!”

    My country is an island state it is situated to the North of Europe. It’s one of the smallest countries. However, it has a big population, and London is the world’s seventh biggest city.

        The capital of the UK is London. The official language is English. It is made up of Anglo-Saxon, French and Latin.

 


Р: It is situated on the British Isles. It consists  of 4 countries: England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland. It is an island country.

Р: The English speak in English, of course, the population of the country is > 58 million people.
Т: OK, we are leaving The UK and we should visit the USA! How can we get there?
P: We can travel by train, by bus, by ship and by plane. Of course,  we should choose the plane.
T: Why do you think so?
P: It is comfortable and quick!
T: Isn’t it too dangerous and  expensive?
P: Perhaps, but still it is the best transport to get to the USA!
T: Let’s go then!

Hello!  I’m from the USA. My country’s motto is “In god we trust”. My country is famous for Coca-Cola and Microsoft, MacDonald’s and General Motors.

    It is one of the most powerful and advanced countries in the world. The capital of the USA is Washington. New York is the financial and cultural center of the USA.

   The USA is a real melting pot: it has the third largest population in the world. English is the official language in the USA but it is called American English.

   There are some differences between British and American English. For example a film in Britain is a movie in America, a postman – a mailman, the underground – the subway. The second important language in the United States is Spanish.

T: Do you know how many states are there in the USA?
P: There are 50 states (they can name some of the states)
T: By the way, who is  at the head of the USA? Is it the Queen?
P: No, the president is at the head, now Baraсk Obama is the president of the country.
P: The people speak English there, but there are many nationalities as you can see…
P: The capital of the USA is Washington .
Washington is a very big and beautiful city!

Now we are to start to Canada! Do you mind to go there by train? What can you say about this way of traveling?
P: Traveling by train is cheap, comfortable and fast! I like to travel by train!

Hi! I’m from Canada. I’m fond of hockey and I believe in myself and my friends.

   It is the second largest country in the world. It is nearly as big as all of Europe.    The capital of Canada is Ottawa. In Canada there are people of many nationalities. There are two official languages in my country, English and French.

    Our people are fond of winter sports: ice hockey, figure skating.


T: OK! We are arriving in Canada now! You can see the flag

P: The capital of Canada  is Ottawa. It is a nice town.
T: What else can you say about Ottawa?
P: It looks like British!
T: What language do people speak in Canada?
P: The Canadians speak English and French. The population of the country is > 34 million people.


P: We are flying to Australia! It is the country and the continent!
P: I think, travelling by bus is interesting …

Australia.

Hello! I’m from Australia. My country is also called “Oz” or “the Lucky Country”. So I also believe in luck.

     My country is the biggest island and the smallest continent in the world. It lies between the Indian and the Pacific Oceans.

  There are “original” Australians” who lived there long ago but most of population came to Australia from Britain, Ireland, and other countries. At present in Australia there are a lot of people from Russia.

    The capital of Australia is Canberra. English is the official language in Australia.


P: Sidney is the capital of Australia. I would like to see Sidney.
P: The population of the country is 17.3 million people.
T: And what is the official language in Australia?
P: It is English, but it is a bit different from British English.
 

T: And at last we are going to New Zealand. One more unusual country. We can get there by ship! What can you say about this way of travelling?
P: The ship is a nice kind of transport. I would like to travel by ship…
T: OK, as usually we are to learn about the symbols of the country!

New Zealand.

Hi! I introduce a small and quite country in Pacific Ocean New Zealand. My country is also called “The world’s biggest farm”. It’s famous for its products: butter, cheese, meat.

    My country consists of two main islands and some smaller islands in the Pacific Ocean.  My country looks like Italy upside down..

    The capital of New Zealand is Wellington. The population of my country is mixed. Our official languages are English and Maori. English spoken in New Zealand is called Kiwi English.

P: We know that Wellington is the capital of New Zealand.
P: The population of the country is 4.353.000 million people. Maori are the native people. Their population is 565.329 people.
P: They have 2 official languages- English and Maori.
P: The wildlife of the country is  unusual too. There are such animals as penguins, kiwi, whales, and many domestic animals. You know, New Zealand is famous  for its meat, milk and butter!
T: Now the trip is over! We are to go back to Great Britain ! The plane is the quickest and  the most comfortable way of travelling!

The Russian Federation.

Hello !I’m from Russia! From the biggest and the most beautiful country in the world.

My country is the Russian Federation. It is big and advanced country. The capital is Moscow.

 

The Republic of Tatarstan is the part of Russia. It is situated in the center of European part of our country. Last year we are spent Universiade in our capital Kazan . We live in a multinational country but we speak our own native language: Tatar and study Russian and English.
