Story 1. Hello, Barkey!

          Barky is a little dog. Barky is grey, black and white. Barky has got a black nose. Barky is not fat, Barky is slim. Barky is not angry. Barky is funny, strong and brave.

           Barky reads and writes too. He has got a big book. Barky likes to read his book. Barky likes birds. Birds fly. Barky likes to run and jump with birds. Barky likes to draw with red, yellow and blue colours. He has got many pencils and pens.

           Barky lives in a house. He lives with his mother and father. He has not got a brother or a sister. Barky has got friends. He likes to play with his friends.

          His friends are two cats. They are brown and white. The cats are funny. They are Kitty and Mitty. They like to sing and dance. They like to skip* (прыгать в скакалку) too. The cats are not lazy.

Story 2. The Cats Sing

 Barky goes to his friends Kitty and Mitty. They are cats. Kitty is brown. Mitty is white. The cats live in a house, too. They like to go to the forest. The cats are in the house. They sing.

'Hello!' says Barky.

'Hello!' say the cats. 'We sing. Let's sing la-la-la, mew-mew-mew.'

'No, thank you,' says Barky. 'I like to run.'

Barky runs.

'I like to jump,' says Barky and jumps. 'And I can dance.'

Barky dances.

'Let's sing and dance!' say Kitty and Mitty. 'We can sing and you can dance!'

The cats and Barky are very funny. They sing and dance.

'La-la-la,' sings Kitty.

'Mew-mew-mew,' sings Mitty.

Barky dances and jumps. They are very good friends.

Story 3. A Rabbit

            Barky likes to go to the forest, too. He can see birds in the forest. They like to play with Barky.

            Barky goes to the forest. Barky sees a rabbit. The rabbit is grey. Barky jumps and plays with the rabbit, but the rabbit is shy.

'Hello!' says Barky.

'Good morning,' says the rabbit.

'I am Barky, I am a dog,' says Barky.

'My name is Binky, I am a rabbit,' says the rabbit.

'I live in a house,' says Barky.

'I live in the forest,' says Binky.

'I like to play,' says Barky. 'Let's play!'

'I like to play with rabbits,' says the rabbit.

          Barky is very sad.

'You can play with dogs, too,' he says. 'I am a nice dog. I am not angry. I am not a fox.'

'I cannot play with dogs,' says Binky. 'Dogs like to run and jump. I like to sit. Rabbits like to sit.'

'I like to sit, too,' says Barky. He sits down. 'Let's sit!'

'Ok,' says Binky.

'Can you draw?' says Barky.

'Yes, I can. But I have not got pencils,' says Binky. 'Have you got pencils?'

'Yes, I have,' says Barky. 'I have got many pencils in my house: red, yellow, blue, orange, pink, brown and green.'

'I like to draw in the forest. Can you take the pencils and go to the forest?'

'Yes, I can. Bye, Binky.'

'Goodbye, Barky.'

Story 4. Barky and Binky Draw

          Barky goes to his house.

'Mummy, are my pencils in the house?' he says.

'Yes, they are,' says his mother.

'Are they on the table?' says Barky.

'No, they are not,' says his mother.

           Barky is sad. He can't take the pencils to the forest.

'Are they in the box?' says Barky.

'Yes, they are. The pencils are in the box!' says Mother.

'I have got a friend in the forest. It is a rabbit,' says Barky. 'The rabbit is Binky. He has not got pencils. Bye, Mummy!'

          Barky goes to the forest.

'Bye, Barky,' says Mother.

          Barky sees the rabbit.

'I have got the pencils!' says Barky. 'We can draw.'

'I like to draw books,' says Binky.

'Books? I like to read books,' says Barky. 'Can you read, Binky?'

'No, I can't,' says Binky.

'Can you write?' says Barky.

'No, I can't,' says Binky. 'Can you read and write?'

'Yes, I can read and write. Let's read and write!' says Barky. 'We can draw a book and read it!'

'Yes, let's draw a book and read it!' says the rabbit.

         Barky and Binky draw a book.

Story 5. A Stick

            Barky is at home. He sees a brown stick. Barky takes the stick.

'It is nice to have a stick. It is a good stick. I like it. I can take it to my friends Kitty and Mitty. We can play with the stick,' he thinks.

            Barky takes the stick and goes to the cats. They see the stick.

'Have you got a stick?' they say.

'Yes, I have,' says Barky. 'We can play with it.'

'We cannot play with it,' says Kitty. 'We are three friends but we have got one stick.'

'We can play with one stick,' says Mitty.

'Mitty, please take the stick and sit down,' says Barky. 'Kitty, let's run to the house!'

          Mitty sits down. Barky and Kitty run to the house.

'Mitty, we see you and we run to you to take the stick. I am strong, I can take the stick! Kitty, can you take the stick? Kitty, let's run!' says Barky.

          Barky and Kitty run to Mitty. The two good friends take the stick. Barky is not sad.

Kitty is not sad. They like to play.

Story 6. A Red Bag

          Kitty has got a red bag. She goes to Mitty.

'Have you got a bag?' says Mitty.

'Yes, I have,' says Kitty. 'I have got a nice red bag!'

'The bag is very nice! I like red. I like red bags. Can I have it?' says Mitty. She has not got a bag.

'No, you can't. It is my bag. I like to have my pencils in my bag. Let's go to Mother. Has she got a bag?'

            They go to Mother.

'Mummy, have you got a bag?' they say.

'Yes, I have,' says Mother.

'Can I have it?' says Mitty.

'No, you can't. It is my bag. I like to have my books in my bag,' says Mother.

'Have you got two bags?' says Mitty.

'No, I haven't,' says Mother. 'Let's go to Father. I think he has got a bag.'

           Kitty, Mitty and Mother go to Father.

'Daddy, have you got a bag?' Mitty says.

'Yes, I have. I have got two bags. They are black and blue,' says Father.

'I have not got a bag,' says Mitty. 'Can I have your blue bag?'

'Yes, you can,' says Father. 'Take your blue bag!'

'Thank you, Daddy!' says Mitty. 'I have got a blue bag!'

           Mitty takes the blue bag. It is nice to have a bag.

Story 7. A Yellow Hat

         The rabbit Binky lives in the forest. He likes to play with little green frogs in the

forest. The frogs are very funny. Binky and the frogs are very good friends.

          Binky sits in the forest. He sees the frogs. They jump. They like to jump.

'Hello, Binky,' say the little green frogs.

'Hello, frogs,' says the rabbit.

         One frog has got a nice yellow hat.

'You have got a nice yellow hat!' says Binky. 'I like it!'

'You can take it!' says the kind frog.

'No, thank you,' says Binky. 'It is your hat. I can't take it.'

        The rabbit is very shy. Binky cannot take the frog's hat.

'Please, take it,' says the kind frog. 'My mother has got many nice hats: red, blue, green and white.'

         Binky thinks.

'Has your mother got a yellow hat?' says the rabbit.

'Yes, she has. She likes yellow hats,' says the kind frog.

'Thank you,' says Binky. 'I can take it. I like yellow hats, too.'

         Binky takes the yellow hat. It is nice to have a hat. It is nice to have good friends.

Story 8. Barky and the Cats Go to the Forest

         Barky goes to Kitty and Mitty. He sees the cats.

'Hello!' he says.

'Hello!' say the cats. They are not in the house. They play with the bags. Kitty has got a red bag. Mitty has got a blue bag.

'Let's go to the forest,' says Barky. 'I have got a good friend in the forest. It is a rabbit.'

'A rabbit?' says Kitty. 'I like to play with rabbits. Let's go!'

'I like to play with rabbits, too,' says Mitty. 'I like to dance with rabbits.'

'But Binky likes to sit and draw,' says Barky. 'You can't dance with Binky.'

'To sit and draw?' say the cats. 'Is it a lazy rabbit?'

'No, Binky is not lazy. He likes to read and write, too. He can jump,' says Barky.

'Let's take the pencils and go to the forest.'

'Okay, let's take the pencils,' say the cats.

            Kitty has got pencils in the red bag: red, yellow, black and brown. Mitty has got

pencils in the blue bag, too. Mitty has got green, pink, white and blue pencils.

           They take the bags and go to the forest.

Story 9. The Friends Draw

            Barky and the cats see the rabbit.

'Hello, Binky,' says Barky. 'I have got two friends. They are cats.'

'Hello, I am Kitty,' says Kitty.

'Hello, I am Mitty,' says Mitty.

'Hello, Kitty and Mitty,' says the rabbit. 'I am Binky, a rabbit.'

'We live in a house,' say the cats. 'But we like to go to the forest. We have got many pencils.'

'I have not got pencils, but I have got a yellow hat,' says Binky. 'I like my yellow hat.'

'It is a nice hat!' say Barky, Kitty and Mitty. 'We like it, too.'

'Thank you,' says Binky. 'Let's draw!'

'Let's draw!' say the cats.

'I can draw a hen and a duck!' says Kitty. 'I have got brown and black pencils.'

            Kitty draws.

'I can draw a parrot!' says Mitty. 'I have got green, pink and blue pencils.'

            Mitty draws.

'I can draw a cockerel!' says Barky. 'Kitty, can I have a brown pencil, please?'

'Yes, you can,' says Kitty.

'Thank you,' says Barky.

            Barky takes the brown pencil.

'Mitty, can I have a green pencil, please?' he says.

'Yes, you can,' says Mitty.

'Thank you,' says Barky.

            Barky takes the green pencil and draws.

'I can draw a bee and a tiger!' says Binky. 'Kitty, can I have black and yellow pencils, please?'

'Yes, you can,' says Kitty.

'Thank you,' says Binky.

           Binky takes the pencils.

'We can't draw an elephant. We have not got a grey pencil,' he says. 'But we can draw a crocodile and a bear. We have got green and brown pencils.'

           Barky, Binky and the cats draw. They are very good friends.
