HELP ANIMALS IN THE COUNTRY AND IN THE CITY

Цели: тренировка произносительных навыков; активизация лексических и грамматических навыков; развитие навыков и умений речи (развитие монологической речи); развитие навыков письма.

Stages

1. Introduction.

II. Warming-up.

Pupils answer the following questions:  

1.  Have you got a pet?

2.  Is it a cat or a dog?

3.  Which is cleverer, a dog or a cat?

4.  Which is shorter, a crocodile or a fish?

5.  Which is funnier, a monkey or a fox?

6.  What is the best food for lions?

7.  What is the worst food for dogs?

III. Phonetic activities.

Pupils look at the blackboard and read these words:

penguin                    crocodile                  ocean

wolf                        whale                     river

eagle                        dog                      desert

camel                       monkey                  sea  

cow                         lion                      mountains

shark                       dolphin

tiger                        giraffe

These words are given with the transcription. Pupils read and translate these words.

IV. Lexical activities.

a) Teacher. Name domestic animals, please!

P1 - a hen, a dog

P2 - a horse, a cow

Р3 - a sheep, a duck, a chicken.

b) Teacher. Name wild animals, please!

P1 - a lion, a leopard, a crocodile

P2- a tiger, a wolf

c) Then pupils are divided into 2 groups. The first group should think and name:

- animals that live only in hot countries;

- animals that eat only grass, leaves of the trees, vegetables and fruits;

Example.

 I'd like to tell about monkeys: they live only in hot countries…

The second group should think and name:

- animals that are bigger than the cat;

- animals that that can have different colours or change them

- the most beautiful animal.

Example.

P1. A horse is bigger than a cat. A lion is bigger than a cat.

P2. To my mind, rabbits can change their colour in winter.

V. Speaking.

a) Ex. 21, p. 85.

Pupils look at the pictures and say:

Which animals live:

- in the country;

- in the city.

Example.

Pi. To my mind, hens, ducks, cows, horses live in the country.

P2. In my opinion, cats, dogs, horses live in the city.

Teacher. And now let us help these animals to find their homes!

Example.

The eagle lives in the mountain.

Pi. The camel lives in the desert.

P2. The crocodile lives in the river.

P3. The wolf lives in the forest.

Teacher. Compare the animals in ex. 25.

Remember!

beautiful - more beautiful - most beautiful

Example.

Pi. A dolphin is more curious than a cow.

P2. An eagle is more beautiful than a crocodile.

b) Ex. 26, p. 88.

Monological speech.

Teacher. Choose a friend-animal for yourself.

Tell about it:

- What animal (cat, dog, dolphin...)

- Where it lives (in the sea, in the country...)

- What it eats (grass, other animals...)

- What it can do (swim, crawl, climb...)

- What it looks like (nice, angry...)

Example.

I'd like to tell you about a clever dolphin. It lives in the blue sea. It eats some seafood. Dolphins can swim and lump. They are nice, beautiful and kind. They can help and save people. I like them very much.

VI. Writing (ex. 27, p. 88).

Teacher. Guess the animals and write the address on the postcard correctly.

Example.

The address 1. Name Camel Hot Street Desert Sahara

2. Name Penguin Frosty Road Antarctica 3. Name Monkey Green Road India

(Данные упражнения можно выполнять как соревнование «Кто больше и правильнее напишет адресов на открытках».) Pupils write the address and train spelling of the words.
