ТЕМЫ: PAST CONTINUOUS TENSE,

ENGLISH-SPEAKING COUNTRIES

(УМК Верещагиной И.Н., Афанасьевой О.В.

Английский язык. 5 класс)

Цели урока:

  1. Развивать грамматические навыки употребления Рast Continuous.
  2. Развивать речевые умения и навыки по теме.
  3. Развивать навыки коммуникативной  компетенции в монологической и диалогической речи и чтении.
  4. Активизировать употребление лексики по теме, расширять словарный запас.
  5. Развитие орфографического навыка.

Ход урока

  1. Оргмомент. (Приветствие. Сообщение целей урока)

Good morning, pupils. Sit down, please. Nice to meet you. Who is absent?

I hope you are fine today and ready to work hard at the lesson.

Today at the lesson we’ll  continue our work with Past Continuous, go on speaking on the topic “English-speaking countries”. Besides it we’ll sing a song and act dialogues out. You see? OK! Let’s begin with phonetic work.

2. Фонетическая разминка.

        Will you look at the blackboard, please? You see some words. Name the sound, please. Let’s pronounce it together. Now read the words after me.

Singing, going, learning, swimming, cooking, reading, listening, speaking.

Read the words again yourselves. Follow your pronunciation. Roma, please.

3.Речевая разминка и развитие грамматического навыка употребления Past Continuous.

T. Say me please, in what Verb Tenses do we use this verb form.

P. We use it in Continuous tenses.

T. When do we use The Past Continuous Tense?

P. We use it when we say what was happening in the past at a certain time.

T. What auxiliary verb must we use in Past Cont.?

P. we must use the verb was or were.

T. Good. Can you write down the formulae for Past Cont. on the blackboard?

Now let’s train a little in using this verb tense. Please, look at the blackboard. You see some word combinations that can help us to say about our actions in the past. Will you read them?

        at 5 o’clock yesterday

        from 5 till 6 yesterday

the whole evening yesterday

all day long

when mother came

OK,  It’s interesting to know what were you doing yesterday.

You have the cards with verbs in the infinitive form. I’d like you to make up sentences in the Past Cont. Tense.    Who begins?

Now exchange your cards in pairs and say what you were not doing yesterday.

And now let’s play a game “Guess”. One of you  will come up to the blackboard and take a card with a verb. And other pupils will guess what you were doing from 5 till 7 yesterday by asking general questions. Do you remember how to ask general questions?

  1. Развитие навыка письменной речи.

Thanks for your active work and now it’s time to open your exercise-books and write down the date. I’ll check how well you have learnt the new words on the topic “English-speaking countries”.

While two of you work with cards you must copy out the words filling in the blanks.

Have you done? OK! Let’s read the words. Please, follow your pronunciation. Can you read only names of countries? Is there an English-speaking country here?

Which En-speaking countries else do you know?

Can you name their capitals?

What about the nationalities?

Which of the countries has two official languages?

  1. Физкультминутка.

Very well. Now it’s time to have a rest. I’d like you to sing our song “The Beauty of the World”. Will you stand up and sing the song to the music?

  1. Проверка устного домашнего задания и контроль навыка монологической речи.

Thanks for the song. Lt’s continue our work.

At the last lesson we read the dialogue between Diana and Helen. What did they talk about? (They talked about English-speaking countries).

Your home task was to answer the question why Helen is interested in English language.  Who is feeling like speaking?

Thank you for the story. I liked it very much. Can anybody add anything?

So, what are the main Helen’s reasons for learning English?

Can you give any other reasons for it? Why do we need learn English?

-to write letters to foreign friends etc.

T. Yes, right you are. But is it difficult for you to learn English?

7. Развитие навыка выразительного чтения.

 Now I want you to read a dialogue about difficulties in learning English. At first you’ll read it in pairs in whisper, and then one pair read it aloud. Follow your intonation, please.

8. Развитие навыков диалогической речи.

At last try to make up your own dialogue. Work in pairs and use the dialogue you have just read.

  1. Подведение итогов урока и объяснение домашнего задания.
