    План-конспект урока английского языка в 10 классе по теме « Семейные ценности»

    Tема: Семейные ценности

    Цели урока: создать условия для развития самостоятельной, творчески мыслящей личности, активизировать речемыслительную деятельность; развивать все виды речевой деятельности через технологию критического мышления; формировать умение анализировать и критически оценивать информацию, применять полученные результаты к различным ситуациям.

    Задачи урока:

    1. Воспитательный аспект: воспитание уважительного, толерантного отношения к другой культуре, более глубокое осознание своей родной культуры, воспитание культуры общения;
    2. Развивающий аспект: развитие критического мышления, развитие языковой культуры;
    3. Познавательный аспект: расширение лингвистического кругозора учащихся
    4. Учебный аспект: совершенствование  практических навыков владения лексикой по теме, развитие  навыков чтения с целью полного понимания прочитанного.

    Оборудование: компьютер; медиапроектор; экран;  дидактический материал.

    Good morning! I think you are ready for our lesson and have a good moon.  

            Leo Tolstoy once said: “One is happy who he is happy in the family”. And we can’t  agree with him. There is nothing more considerable in our life to be compared with this small unity of human-beings – a family.

    So, today we`ll speak about family values. We`ll work with the vocabulary on the topic, we`ll  read text, discuss it.

    First we`ll revise the words which you got acquainted with in the previous lesson.  Study the list of family values. Then match them with their definitions.

    1. Now, let`s have brainstorm activity.

    I ask you to divide in two groups. The first will write all the family values that come to your mind. The second will  read what people say about family values  and decide what values ( or the lack of them) are meant by the speaker. Work in group, please.

    1. Read the text, fill the table and discuss.

                   Family as a top social value

                  A family is a big part of our life. It has a strong impact on everything, in determines our future life.

              All that has just been said concerns only a good family. Having discussed much we gain understanding in creating the image of a good family. Here it is:

    1. In such families there are no endless arguments between children and parents ending in quarrels
    2. There is no everyday lecturing children on different things such as marks, school, household duties, lifestyle, fried, acquaintances, hairdos, gear, language, food interests, addictions and hobbies.
    3. A good family excludes numerous cavils, punishments, deprivations and other kinds of humiliation
    4. Both children and parents have a similar sense of humour, the same things seem funny to them
    5. Parents in such families are good about avoiding problems as they remember what it was like to be seventeen
    6. They rarely lecture on family values as they can impart these values clearly enough in everyday conversations
    7. They do not force children to do something, they try to convince them
    8. All members in such families like being together, having great dinners, taking at least one family vacation every year
    9. Parents and their immature children trust each other; children can discuss such delicate problems as sex, love, relationships with girl- and boy-friends with their mothers or fathers.
    10. Everybody misses each other in these families
    11. In a good family everybody takes into consideration each other’s interests, inclinations, dates, engagements, schedules and itineraries.

            Sometimes children suffer from negative consequences of living together with their parents, brothers and sisters. One of the worst things about it is lack of privacy. Children sometimes are treated like babies or unpaid slaves. Parents don’t pay attention that their children tease each other, spoil things, go through each other’s stuff, that nothing is safe in their rooms. Furthermore, parents themselves keep nagging teenagers about their friends, homework, looks, studying. Responsibilities are not distributed fairly in the house; children and parents don’t do their fair share. It’s extremely offensive. No wonder that children in such families are eager to become older and leave their parents as soon as possible.

            But we shouldn’t forget that there are foster parents, foster children and children’s homes, where you are surrounded by strangers, where you are compelled to share a room with some disagreeable people and where you will be always jealous of children having their own rooms and parents. What shocks you most is that they do not appreciate it and keep complaining all the time about some problems of their relationships in the families. If they knew what it is to be alone in the world, they would never say even one bad word about their families and homes.

    In groups of three or four decide which of the following statements you agree or disagree with. ( Use Language support on p. 74 SB)

    Be ready to report the results of your discussion to the class.

    1. We only need a family for comfort and protection.
    2. Sharing feelings comes after sharing  a meal.
    3. Privacy is impossible in an extended family.
    4. Too much caring is annoying.
    5. Mutual respect can substitute for love in a family.
    6. Trust is more important for a happy family than any other feature.

    Conclusion: Irrespective of some disagreements and misunderstanding remember that your home and your family is your shelter in this enormous world. Everybody needs caring, sharing, security, respect and comfort that one can find only in the family.
