Открытый урок  по английскому языку в 10 классе на тему  «Talking on family matters». УМК  М.З.Биболетова.

Вид урока : обобщение и закрепление изученного материала.

Цели: активизация речемыслительной деятельности, закрепление лексического материала по теме семья.

Задачи:

1)обучающие : практика речевой деятельности, повторение и закрепление грамматического материала, активизация лексики  по теме;

2)воспитательные: воспитать чувство толерантности, культуру общения и чувство любви к семье.

Оборудование: компьютер, проектор, колонки, учебники , рабочие тетради к учебникам.

Ход урока.

I    Организационный момент:

      1.Приветствие: Good morning, children. I am glad to see you and our guests.

      2.Отметка отсутствующих в журнале :Who is absent today?

II   Формулировка цели и этапов урока:

     Слайд №1

     T: There are people of different ages in these pictures. Look and guess what we are going to speak about today.

      Ps : About a family.

      Слайд №2

      T: Yes, you are right. Sometimes people in the family see the world in different ways .Today we shall discuss family matters. During our lesson we shall enrich our vocabulary, improve grammar skills, listen to tape- recordings, read and speak.

       T: Let’s begin with the warming up. You see some words on the screen,divide them into four groups, according to pronunciation.

       T: Thank you, children. I agree with you but I noticed that you feel lack of words to express your opinion. That’s why I suggest to do some exercises to enlarge your vocabulary.

1. T:  Match the verbs with their definitions.

   Student’s book: p. 57 ex.№9.

       P1: 1. hand down- d) to give knowledge and skill to someone who is younger than you and will live on after you died;

       P2 : 2. find out – g) to discover a fact or piece of information;

       P3 : 3. start out -i) to intend to do smth;

       P4 : 4. go back – f) to return to a person, place, subject or activity;

       P5 : 5. come alive – h) to seem to still exist, and be interesting and exciting;

       P6 : 6.  take someone back – a) to remind someone of smth in the past;

       P7 : 7. take out – e)  to remove smth from a pocket, bag;

      P8: 8.  think back – b) to think about smth that happened in the past;

       P9 : 9. come from -  c) to have been born in a particular place, to belong to a                particular family or a social group;

           2.T:  Now use these words to complete the sentences .Make the necessary changes. S.b.  p. 57 ex.57.

     P1:  1. My father comes from Novosibirsk. He finished school and then his family moved here.

     P2: 2. This film always takes me back to my childhood.

     P3: 3. Alex took out his camera to take a family photo.

     P4:  4. Our town usually comes alive in summer when a lot of visitors come to     spend their holidays near the lake.

      P5: 5. I started out on my research about five years ago and now I know a lot about my ancestors.

     P6:  6. I have been trying to think back to our last meeting to understand what happened.

      P7: 7. A talent for drawing has been handed down from generation to generation in the family.

      P8: 8. We had a wonderful time here and I’d like to go back to this place next winter.

      P9: 9. We may never find out the truth about what happened.

VI  Грамматические упражнения.

    T:   Very often we find ourselves in the situations when we repent of what we have done because we can change nothing. In order to express our regret there is a form of Conditional sentences called Unreal Past Conditional.  Let’s fresh in our minds  the structure.

If + Past Perfect , would have V3

T:   Your home task was  to read the story at p. 68 and rewrite it using Unreal Past Conditional where it is possible.

     P1:   1. If Peter hadn’t missed the  bus  , he   wouldn’t  have  been late for his geography lesson.

      P2: 2. If  he  hadn’t  be in a hurry, he wouldn’t have left his history report at home.

      P3: 3. If he hadn’t left his report  at home, he would have been able to take part in the class discussion.

     P4:  4.  If he hadn’t left his report  at home, the teacher wouldn’t have been disappointed.

VII    Аудирование.

      T: Poor Peter , he is a good boy but a bit absent minded. That’s why, I think he has  a lot of problems at school and , of course , conflicts at home. Let’s discuss these unpleasant but inevitable moments of our life.

  1. Ex. 61 at p.69  suggests you to find some words expressing the negative energy of arguments. Match the words with their definitions.

             a row – a noisy argument or fight between two or more people;

             argument – an angry disagreement between two or more people;

             cope with – to deal successfully with a difficult situation or job;

             talk through – to discuss a plan or situation in a detailed way;

             conflict – a disagreement between people or groups;

             fake – false;

             provoke – to deliberately try to make someone angry.

  1.  T: Combine these words to make meaningful expressions.

Ps  :  an angry argument; avoid a conflict / be in a conflict; a blazing row; come into a conflict; cope with a problem; cope with stress; cope with anger; fake a smile; fake relationships; get into conflicts / provoke a conflict; a heated argument; talk through a problem; win / lose an argument.

3.And now you will listen  to the tape recording. These expressions will help you while listening to the people, talking about family rows.

It’s easier to talk about things calmly.

A quiet conversation is better.

     T:  Now you answer the third question.

        P1:  Conflicts are not for me. I try to avoid rows because after the conflict I feel bad.

        P2: Several years ago I used to have rows very often because I thought my parents didn’t love and didn’t understand me. Now I have good relationships with my family because we often talk through the problems calmly.

VIII     Чтение.

      T: Many people try to avoid rows as you do, but psycologists have their own opinion.Let’s read the text at p.70 and you will know their point of view.

       T:  First look at these photos.

       T: Read and match the paragraphs with the titles.

IX   Устная работа.  

  1. Discuss the questions  p.71  ex. 69.

           P1:  Rows are a sign of a healthy relationship as it’s a sign of  changing relationships and of teenagers becoming more mature.

            P2: They prove the idea with examples from real life, including famous people.

           P3: There are two factors mentioned: people keeping their feelings to themselves and the constant stress and anxiety caused by rows in the family.

          P4: Rows are good for relationships when people are able to research some kind of conclusion and find a way out of a problem.    

  1. T: Do you agree with the ideas from the text?

                  P1: I agree because people shouldn’t keep offenc in their hearts. It spoils the relatioships.It’s better to speak out and forget the conflict.

    T: Well, I see you have become more informed in family matters than I was at your age. In conclusion I want you to read some wise messages from our ancestors, I mean  proverbs. Will you read and explain how you understand them. Give Russian equivalents if possible.

  2. Like father like son.- P2: Яблоко от яблони недалеко падает.Many sons take after their fathers, not only in looks but also in character.
  3. What is bred in the bone will nevercome out of the flesh.- P3: Отец рыбак и дети в воду глядят. We inherit certain characteristics from our ancestors and those characteristics will be inherited from us by our descendants.
  4. Blood is thicker than water.-P4: Ссора в семье до первого взгляда. Family relationshipsare usually stronger than any other ones .

X     Итоги.

      T: Pay attention to these proverbs, remember them in any situations of your life. They will help you to live in harmony with your nearest and dearest. The lesson is over,thank you , good bye!
