Пояснительная записка
В соответствии с нормами и требованиями государственного образовательного стандарта общего образования в преподавание иностранного языка введён региональный компонент. Это позволяет значительно расширить содержание обучения английскому языку. Опираясь на присущий детям интерес и любовь к природе, родному посёлку или городу региональный компонент помогает воспитывать у них стремление жить и работать в родном крае, гордость за место, в котором он живёт. Представленное пособие позволяет расширить содержание обучения английскому языку, так как включает темы других школьных предметов гуманитарного цикла: истории, географии, краеведения.
Тексты и упражнения позволяют познакомить учащихся с некоторыми природными достопримечательностями Челябинской области. Уроки разработаны в виде виртуальной экскурсии к конкретному разделу учебника, поэтому задания соответствуют тому грамматическому материалу, который представлен в разделе учебника

Ilmenskiy reserve
Ilmenskiy reserve is a state nature reserve. It is located in the central part of the Chelyabinsk region near the town of Miass. 1920 Ilmen mountains were declared mineralogical reserve. It is one of the first nature reserves, created in Russia. Today it is a nature protecting, scientific and researching institution. Specialists work there on tree-planting because forests can clean the air. They also protect animals from extinction. There are some rare spices of animals and plants registered in the Red Book.
More than 80 % of the area of Ilmenskiy reserve is occupied by forests, about 6 % are meadows and steppes. The tops of the mountains are covered with pine forests. There are more than 1200 species of plants, many of endemic, relict and rare plants. There live a lot of animals: ermine, forest polecat, mustela, wolf, lynx, flying squirrel, hare, brown bear, elk , roe. Besides we can meet there deer and beaver. There are a lot of birds. Capercaillie, black grouse, hazel grouse, partridge, whooper swan, grey crane, white-tailed eagle live there.
From 1930 there is a mineralogical museum, which was founded by.E. Fersman. In this museum are presented more than 200 various minerals found in Ilmen mountains .

Porogi
In 1910, on the river Bolshaya Satka was built a small plant for manufacturing of iron. The place for this factory was very convenient. A beautiful mountain river provided this plant with cheap electricity. More than that, there were found quartzites and chromic iron ore. Six months after the opening, the factory produced its first products. The label“Satka. Porogi” was very famous soon. On the left bank of the river grew rapidly a settlement with the same name. It was the first Ural village, equipped with electric light.
Industrial complex of «Porogi » was built according to the latest technical knowledge of the early twentieth century. Machines and equipment were brought from Germany, Switzerland, France and England! More than that, the Satka plant used all the advanced technologies of Europe beginning of the twentieth century! Old construction has been working yet.Nowadays, the dam provides electricity for a whole village Porogi.
Besides, Porogi is the oldest hydroelectric power station in Russia. It is one of a kind. There are no such constructions in the world. It is very famous thanks to the mechanism and it`s age. |
Without reconstruction the complex of «Porogi» has been working for 100 years.
Until the 1930s, it was the only plant in the country, which was engaged in the manufacturing of ferroalloys. In 1993, the world Fund of the UNESCO awarded the mark «world» to unique monument of industry – Porogi..

The Legend of the Lake Turgoyak Once upon a time on the coast of Baikal lived a very beautiful and brave young man. His name was Tour. He was a hard-working and a kind man. He loved his native land very much and he often admired the blue smooth surface of the great lake. Once Tour decided to go to a distant province to see other people and other land. He walked for a long time, but he found no place as beautiful as his home. He decided to come back. Not far from the lake he saw a girl sitting on a rock. When she raised her head, Tour saw that she was incredibly beautiful, but her eyes were sad. Her name was Goyak. She was sad because the wicked witch enchanted her. The girl's eyes couldn’t see and she could see only after washing with crystal clear water. Tour liked Goyak . He decided to chase away the sadness of this beautiful girl. The young man volunteered to help her, because he knew where to get clean clear water. He went to the native lake Baikal and brought her water from the most beautiful lake on the earth. Goyak washed her face, and her eyes could see again. But on the place, where Baikal's water drops, there was a picturesque lake. Uvildy Uvildy is the blue pearl among the picturesque lakes of the Urals . Many people are fascinated by this lake! Here you can fish and swim. This lake is famous for it`s rare beauty and clear water. There are a lot of islands. Uvildy is a big lake of tectonic origin, that was formed millions of years ago. Uvildy is as big as the territory of San Marino with the population of 20 thousand people. Its total area is more than 68 square kilometers. The maximum length of the lake mirror is 9 kilometers. The territory of lake Uvildy is occupied by mixed forests. From spring to autumn you can meet here usual and rare species of plants which are in the Red book,: strawberries, blueberries, viburnum, cranberry, wild rose. In the forests around this beautiful lake live elks and roes , hares and squirrels, hedgehogs and foxes . On the benches of the lake live ducks and quails, grouses and seagulls and many other birds. You can meet here vipers and lizards. In the lake Uvildy from the earliest times live crustaceans, which is a sign of the purity of the lake. The lake has a large number of species of fish. There live roach, perch, pike, lin and whitefish. A lot of beautiful plants, pure water, pleasant mountain air makes Uvildy one of the most favorite place of rest for many people in Chelyabinsk region.
