Учебная ситуация – Endangered species

Практическая цель – усвоение умений самостоятельно в комплексе применять знания, умения и навыки, осуществлять их перенос в новые условия.

Тип урока:  урок комплексного применения ЗУН

Форма работы: фронтальная, парная, индивидуальная.

Задачи:

  1. Обобщить и систематизировать знания о вымирающих видах животных
  2. Отработать навыки аудирования, чтения, письма, говорения
  3. Обучить выполнению задания по образцу
  4. Показать взаимосвязь и взаимообусловленность явлений
  5. Формировать умения находить и анализировать факты.
  6. Формирование умения активно и последовательно отстаивать свою точку зрения, умение найти убедительные аргументы при доказательстве.

Развивающая цель:

 развитие познавательных умений, развитие умений учебного труда

Воспитательная цель:

  • Формирование интереса к будущему планеты
  • Воспитание гуманного отношения к людям
  • Формирование ответственности
  • Развитие требовательности к себе и другим
  • Воспитание мотивов учения, положительного отношения к знаниям
  • Воспитание мотивов труда

I have a news, too. Listen to it and say what it is about. (включаю запись: Scientists have announced that a type of West African monkey, Miss Waldron’s red colobus, has probably become extinct. This large monkey is the first primate to vanish since the 19th century. Despite a series of searches conducted by anthropologists over a six-year period, no evidence of even one remaining monkey was found. Wildlife experts were unsurprised, as the last confirmed sighting of a Miss Waldron’s red colobus was over 20 years ago and it was listed as endangered back in 1988)

Read through all the statements and name only one which is the most urgent for you. Don’t repeat after each other.

Humans are causing them to disappear by

hunting them or by destroying their habitats, such as cutting down the forests where they live.

Answer the questions:

1.Why are the beaches important for the loggerhead sea turtle?

2.What do the young turtles find when they hatch from their eggs?

3. How can people protect the loggerhead sea turtle?

1 Beaches are important for the loggerhead turtles to lay their eggs.

2 They find the beaches are crowded with tourists.

3 They can become volunteers with the Sea Turtle Protection Society or can check out the society’s website for more information.

How YOU can help to protect the sea turtles:

Keep the beaches clean. Don't throw plastic or nylon objects in the sea.

Switch off or cover bright lights which are visible from the nesting beach.

Don't dig out the nests. The sea turtles, the nests, their eggs and the hatchlings are protected by Greek law and international conventions.

Don't move nest signs or protective cages above the nests.

Don't touch the hatchlings. It is important that they find on their own their way to the sea.

Don't light fires at night on the nesting beaches.

Avoid using vehicles on the beach.

Avoid going very fast in a motor boat, close to a nesting beach.

Become a supporter of ARCHELON.

Become a volunteer on our summer projects in Zakynthos, Peloponnesus and Crete or at our Rescue Centre in Glyfada.

Become a member of the Rescue Network and if you find dead or injured sea
turtles call us at (+30) 210 89 44 444.

Adopt a hatchling, a mother loggerhead, an incubating nest or an injured sea turtle under rehabilitation.

If you are 8 to 18 years old, you may become a member of CHELONOPAREA, our active youth club.

Visit the Sea Turtle Rescue Centre in Glyfada (3rd Marina of Glyfada, behind the TRAM stop "Paleo Dimarhio").

Visit ARCHELON's website to learn all about sea turtle conservation in Greece.

Look at ex 3 p 59. Read the task carefully and don’t forget to make notes under each heading.

Polar Bears

The polar bear is an endangered species in Russia. It is a member of the bear family. It lives in the Artic region around the North Pole, which covers five countries: Russia, the United States(Alaska), Canada, Greenland, and Norway. It lives and hunts on the ice surrounding the

North Pole. In Russia, polar bears can be found in Siberia. There are about 20,000 in the world still in the wild. Polar bears are endangered

because their habitat is melting. In addition, they are under threat from illegal hunters who kill them for their valuable furs. Canada, the USA, Denmark, Norway and Russia have signed an agreement to protect them and their habitat.

There are many rare animals around the world. People hunt them and kill them for leather, meat and fur. Except of this, the natural habitat of rare animals is destroyed. So they can’t breed. We must protect them to keep these species for next generations…
