Задачи урока: практические – обучение навыкам делового письма, деловой речи, аудирования в рамках данной темы; развитие навыков монологического и диалогического высказывания по теме.

образовательная – обобщение знаний по теме: «Карьера».

воспитательная – формирование культуры письменной и устной речи, правил поведения, ведения формальной беседы.

развивающая – Развитие логического и ассоциативного мышления.

Synopsis:

In this activity students will work in small teams to brainstorm needed workplace skills and attitudes associated with each job. Students will be explained legal regulations for under-aged employees, students will do psychological testing, and will be informed about the steps towards employability through writing application letters.

 Class Session:

1. Explain that students are going to discuss a career topic, the employability and are supposed to create practical recommendation how to pick up a job. Once the surveys are completed, students will share their results with the class, and determine the skills and attitudes needed to be successfully employed.

2. Consider the possibility of having students work in teams of two if you feel they would be more comfortable in co, mpleting the assignment. Give every student individual task as a home assignment: a role of a school psychologista role of a career counselor, a role of legal counselor, a role of volunteer job, a speaker on types of business letters, a speaker on types of job searching.

3. Review the keywords for this lesson. Be sure that all students understand the difference between the terms “employer” and “employee” and between “skill” and “attitude” and others.

4. Distribute the accompanying handout, which includes interview questions, application samples, resume samples, CV samples, job-offer samples. Make everyone accomplish some of them as practical part.

5. Watch online video about Resume  and a CV writing. Discuss what aspects the students can mention in the resume of their own.

6. Take a few minutes to practice proper interviewing skills by watching corresponding videos.

7. Discuss tough interview questions and try to analyze the criteria the HR or an employer

Today we are going to talk about Career. As I guess, it's one of the things you consider and bother about either now or in the nearest future.

You have been given an individual task to prepare some kind of speech about different aspects. So we have occupied the places according to my idea of the lesson.

 

There are actually a lot of professions which are involved into this procedure and which aim is to simplify transmission from school to work and to provide necessary assistance. Most of them were introduced in the 20th century.

Ok. Now you help. Before the start of choosing a career who provides you with information about your choice and inclinations and preferences.  - psychologist. I asked some of you to investigate into the profession of a psychologist.

The next step. We need to get idea of what actually some of the professions involve.  - career counselor

We being young and innocent - need to be informed about different legal restrictions concerning our job - a legal counselor

Ok. We have consulted everyone. Now we need to move forward - into practical steps. Let's have a look at the process of looking for a job. There are different ways, aren't there?

Let's choose anyway a standard legal procedure and turn to application. There are different ways of business letters. Which do you know?

Well, when we are just teens, we don't have much experience - so what shall we include into our resume?

Let's listen about a volunteer jobs.

Now let's analyze our experience, what a typical Russian school provides: you fill in your

1/Education and optional subjects:

country study (English), guide-interpreter (English), French or German, Touristic Club, Business English, Cambridge FCE, young students tutoring, project participation

2/The activities and skills:

Kitchen help, school newspaper journalist/reporter/editor, school radio dj/newsreader, school TV vj/newsreader, social events promoter, students council representative/chairman/spokesperson, school football/rugby team captain/member, school cheer leader team leader/member,

3/extra skills and certificates:

fluent English/French/German (FCE certificate), driving license,  lifeguard certificate, first aid certificate, child care certificate

Now your team will get this offer and you get that one. Let's discuss what should we mention when applying at these particular jobs. (раздача карточек)

Well, imagine, you have sent the resume and you have finally been chosen for the interview. (personal/on the phone and online). Let's get some tips about them.

You showed some interest in sign systems. This interest unites profession associated with lyricsnumbers, formulas, tables, drawings and diagrams. You are able to do the job accurately and precisely, if its necessary,  you are disciplined and fast. But you retain flexibility and mobility. The main point is your tolerant attitude to the seeming many boring work with papers, figures, texts, documents.But this interest is not big enough to connect the life with signs

You  areabsolutely not interested in everything that involves working with documents, marks, numbers, texts. You value surprises and improvisation in life. Probably you are creative person and hate work associated with seating on one place. You do not ready work at a job that requiresa clear statement execution.  You have tendency to improvisation, originality. Work in the creative sphere of activity is for you. However, you can't always force yourself to do what is «need», instead of «want». This may create difficulty in finding employment,because  almost any job involves rules and obligations.We recommend you develop  strong-willed qualities, ability to plan and discipline.
