Without any doubt the main relict of Belogorye is the relict of Ioasaph of Belgorod , an 18th-century bishop, became widely venerated as a miracle worker( healer ) and was glorified as a saint of the Russian Orthodox Church in 1911.
Saint Ioasaph of Belgorod Ioasaph Gorlenko (1705-1754) paid much attention to the religious and moral state as well as work of educational program in the eparchy . His main goals was the aid to poor people. Very often the bishop visited poor people personally helping them. He died on December 10, 1754, aged only 49. His body was left unburied for two months and a half in the Holy Trinity Cathedral ( Svyato-Troitsky sobor ) and showed no signs of decay. Only on February 28, 1755 the coffin with the body of the deceased was placed in a crypt under the cathedral. Two years later the clergymen went down to the crypt, opened the coffin and found the body of Ioasaph totally incorrupt. Since that time for more than a century and a half Ioasaph Gorlenko has been revered by people in Belgorod as a saint though he was officially canonized in 1911
On February 28, 1755 the coffin with the body of St.Ioasaph was placed in a crypt in the south-west part of Belgorod Holy Trinity Cathedral. In the late 19th century when the glory of Saint Ioasaph spread far beyond the eparchy this crypt got the name " peshcherka " (Russian for "small cave") Nowadays " peshcherka " of Saint Ioasaph in the territory of former Holy Trinity Monastery is under reconstruction.
Local people and pilgrims from all over Russia came to " peshcherka " to venerate the incorrupt relics and get recovered. Emperors, members of the imperial family as well as many public officials, generals, well-known writers, historians, scientists went down to the crypt. All that time St. Ioasaph was revered by people in Belgorod as a saint and miracle-worker, many legends formed around his name. Healings and miracles occurred at his coffin and on the grave served as a basis for numerous appeals for his canonization. In 1911 St. Ioasaph was glorified as a saint hierarch .
On September 17, 1991 the relics of Saint Ioasaph were transferred to the Cathedral of the Transfiguration ( Preobrazhensky Kafedralny sobor ), with the participation of Alexiy II , Holy Patriarch of Moscow and all Rus ' . http://pravaya.ru/side/14/551

The Theotokos Panagia (Our Lady of the Sign) Icon
The Theotokos Panagia icon was found during the demolition of a residential building more than 10 years ago. The icon was displayed during The Way of Christ's Love exhibition. The entire front surface of the icon was dark brown due to the metal corrosion. After two months of the exhibition the icon incredibly changed: the surface where Christ's and Our Lady's palms and faces used to be lightened to maize yellow and Christ's and Our Lady's features became visible. The surfaces also acquired a faint tint of gold. From that time and up till now the Theotokos Panagia icon has been kept in the Belgorod Cathedral of the Transfiguration ( Preobrazhensky Kafedralny sobor ) in the right chapel.

Miracle-working Icon of St. Nicholas Ratny The icon inspired Russian soldiers during the Russo-Japanese War and when hard times that came for our Motherland. In 1765 the icon of St. Nicholas Ratny was brought to Belgorod and till 1923 was kept in the Holy Trinity Cathedral. When the Cathedral was closed the icon was lost. 70 years passed before it was found again. It was miraculously found for the second time in 1993. Today the visitors of the Cathedral of the Transfiguration ( Preobrazhensky Kafedralny sobor ) can pray and venerate the miracle-working icon any day.
This icon aged more than half a century is glorified by various miracles. The miracle-working icon repeatedly helped the defenders of the Russian land to defeat the enemy. According to the legends it appeared near Belgorod in Ustinka settlement in the spring on the bank of Korenek river. The icon protected the settlement inhabitants from the Tatars' raid. The icon of St. Nicholas Ratny inspired Russian warriors to fight the French invaders in 1812, the Field Marshal M.Kutuzov used the icon to bestow blessing over the soldiers.

The Church of the Exaltation of the Holy Cross was endowed by countess A.Lastovskaya and merchants, brothers Nikolay and Egor Mukhanov , in 1863. The most worshipped relic in the church is a Miracle-working cross from Koshary
According to a legend, a rich landlord Yury Vyrodov lived in Koshary in the time of St. Ioasaph (1748-1754) There was a Cross in his house. The Cross had been sent to him by his brother - a novice in a monastery of Mount Athos. But the corrupted landlord felt no reverence for the sacred relic. One day, after an unsuccessful hunt, Vyrodov ordered his servants to throw the cross in a swamp
In the late 18th century the desecrated Holy Cross was miraculously retrieved. A blind man heard a voice in his sleep, the voice told him, that he would be healed after he had saved the Cross from the Koshary swamp. He went in search for the Cross. He did manage to find it. And once the blind man touched the Holy Cross - his sight recovered and he thanked God for it. Today the Cross can be seen in the Church of the Exaltation of the Holy Cross in Belgorod.
