Конспект урока по английскому языку в 7 классе по теме “Modern gadgets”.УМК  Spotlight 7.

Цель урока:

- ознакомить обучающихся с новым лексическим и грамматическим материалом;

- формировать интерес и правильное отношение к техническим новинкам и технологиям.

Задачи:

Обучающая:

- активизировать употребление в речи лексических единиц по теме «Modern Gadgets»;

- практиковать обучающихся в различных видах речевой деятельности: чтении, говорении, аудировании;

- совершенствовать коммуникативные навыки обучающихся;

- ознакомить обучающихся со способами выражения будущего времени и автоматизировать их употребление в речи учащихся.

Развивающая:

- развивать внимание, память, мышление обучающихся;

- развивать понавательную активность;

- развивать речевые способности, умение анализировать.

Воспитательная:

- формировать устойчивую мотивацию к изучению английского языка;

- формировать навыки культуры общения;

- развивать умения и навыки работы в парах, командах с целью достижения общего результата;

- формировать правильное отношение к использованию современных гаджетов.

Тип урока: изучение нового материала

                       по теме “Modern gadgets”

УМК  Spotlight 7

Цель урока:

- ознакомить обучающихся с новым лексическим и грамматическим материалом;

- формировать интерес и правильное отношение к техническим новинкам и технологиям.

Задачи:

Обучающая:

- активизировать употребление в речи лексических единиц по теме «Modern Gadgets»;

- практиковать обучающихся в различных видах речевой деятельности: чтении, говорении, аудировании;

- совершенствовать коммуникативные навыки обучающихся;

- ознакомить обучающихся со способами выражения будущего времени и автоматизировать их употребление в речи учащихся.

Развивающая:

- формировать устойчивую мотивацию к изучению английского языка;

Тип урока: изучение нового материала

Форма урока: фронтальная, индивидуальная, парная, групповая

Применяемые технологии: коммуникативные, компьютерные, игровые, проектные, здоровьесберегающие.

Оборудование и наглядность: компьютер, проектор, экран, учебник Spotlight 7, CD Spotlight 7,презентация ,видеоматериалы, раздаточный материал для выполнения самостоятельных работ учащимися в течение урока.

Ход урока:

1.Организационный момент

Hello, my friends! I’m glad to see you. I think you’re fine and I hope we’ll have a wonderful time together. Today we’re going to do vocabulary, grammar, speech exercises, sing and dance, listen to the dialogue and discuss it, watch and study video materials.

2. Speech practice

We’ll begin our lesson with a song. Watch it and guess what topic of the lesson is.

Now can you guess our topic?

Pupils: Computers.

Teacher: Right. We’re  going to talk about computers and other gadgets.

The boy from this song likes working on the computer.

What about you?

What do you usually do on the computer?

How often do you use a computer?

Key: play games, watch films, look for information in the Net, read books on-line, chat with friends, make presentations

3. Discussing modern gadgets

1) Nowadays there are a lot of various gadgets.

What gadgets do you know? Discuss in pairs and write your ideas on the board.

2) Now guess what gadget I’m talking about.

You take photos with it. (digital camera)

You film interesting moments of your life with it.(a camcorder)

Now it’s your turn to make riddles. Let’s divide the class into small groups. Each group gets the name of a gadget. You should say what you can do with this gadget.

MP 3player

It helps you to store music files and listen to music with it.

 mobile phone

You can make calls with it.

e-book device

You can read electronic books with it.

TV set

You can watch the news, films, cartoons.

laptop

A personal computer you can take everywhere.

computer

You can play games with it.

headphones

You can use it to listen to music.

DVD player

You can use it to watch films with it.

3) Look at the pictures on the board (слайд 3)

Teacher: What are these people doing?

Pupils: They are using modern gadgets. (They are listening to the music, sending e-mails, surfing the Net, taking pictures, watching films, playing computer games, playing electronic books, talking to friends, sending text messages, storing music files).

Teacher: Have you got these gadgets? Do you use them in the same way?(слайд 4)

Pupils answer the questions.

4)Teacher: What’s your favourite gadget? What do you use it for?

Pupil 1: I’ve got a lot of gadgets. But my favourite gadget is a mobile phone and I use it all the time. I often play computer games. Besides, I surf the Internet , text messages, call my friends and parents and take pictures.

Pupil 2: My favourite gadget is my e-book.I use it for reading different books. It is very convenient. It can store hundreds of  books. It’s small and light. I can take it everywhere.

Pupil 3: I have a lot of gadgets, but my favorite is MP3 player. I enjoy listening to music. I like jazz and rock music. I can’t imagine my life without it.

Pupil 4: As for me, I like my digital camera most of all. I enjoy taking photos of my friends and the natures.

Pupil 5: My favourite gadget is my computer. I can’t live without it. I use it every day. I need it to surf the Net, search all the necessary information, watch films, listen to the music, talk on-line with my friends, make presentations, play games.

5) We can’t imagine our life without modern inventions. It makes the life easier, more comfortable, more interesting and exciting. It goes without saying they’ve got a lot of advantages. But they’ve got some disadvantages too.

Now you’re divided into two groups. One group tries to suggest advantages and the second group tries to discuss disadvantages.

Let us know your ideas.

Check them with the suggestions on the screen.

Advantages:

- you can communicate on-line with people all over the world

- you can listen to music, take photos, find all kind of information

- you can entertain yourself

- you can buy products and tickets with the help of the Internet

- you can pay the bills

- you can do homework

Disadvantages:

-Gadgets influence badly on your health.

-Gadgets create electromagnetic fields so you can have headaches, your eyes can hurt.

-Doing on-line shopping you can be a victim of on-line fraud.

-People surf the Net too much and they are not able to communicate face-to-face.

- Gadgets create more stress for people.

- People do less physical exercises because of using gadgets too much.

4. Let’s have a rest. Let’s dance and sing The Robot Song

5.Listening and reading

Let’s look at the picture in the dialogue Ex2p48

1)What type of gadget do you think this is?

2)Read the first exchange in the dialogue.

What is Bridget going to buy?

In what kind of shop do you think she can find one?

3)Listen and check.

4)Read the dialogue.

5)Complete the sentences:

1.Bridget is going to … (buy a virtual dog).

2.A virtual pet is …. (a computerized pet).

3.When the virtual pet is hungry …(press a button).

4.A virtual pet can’t … (show any affection).

6.Grammar. Future forms.

1)In this dialogue we can see examples of future forms. Find them and read aloud. Try to guess how they are used. You can see the hints on the screen (слайд 6)

4) Let’s talk about your plans (the game “Chain”)

Answer the questions (слайд 8):

- What are you doing next Sunday?

- What are you going to do in summer?

Ask such questions to each other.

7.Speaking Ex7p49

Discuss the arguments in favour of virtual dogs/real dogs. Use the hints in Ex7p49 as well as the language in Ex6p49

8.Home task(слайд 9)

Ask teenagers and grown-ups(parents, grandparents, teachers) about modern gadgets:

-How many gadgets have you (your family) got?

-What is your most favourite gadget?

-How do you use it?

-How often do you use it?

-What is the most important gadget in your opinion and why?(comfort, necessity, mobility and so on)

Write down their answers. Sum up the results in diagrams.

9. Summarizing the results of  the lesson .

Our lesson is over. I hope , that you enjoyed it and you got a lot of useful knowledge about the world of gadgets and modern technologies.

Project work  “High-tech gadgets in our life” (home task)

The aim of the project work  is to figure out the influence of modern gadgets on the way of living of people these days.

Opinion poll “Modern gadgets”

60 people were asked the following questions:

-How many gadgets have you (your family) got?

-What is your most favourite gadget?

-How do you use it?

-How often do you use it?

-What is the most important gadget in your opinion and why?

According to our opinion poll each family has about 18-20 modern gadgets that they can’t live without in their everyday life.

Teenagers consider that their favourite gadgets are mobile phones which they constantly use from morning till night.

They take it everywhere even in bed. They use it for making calls, surfing the Net, using social nets, playing games, taking pictures, listening to the music.

Also, they think it’s the most important gadget because of its comfort (It is light. You can put in a pocket) and mobility. It’s the main means of communicating.

Besides, they constantly need it for pleasure and study (they can find any information in the Net).

As for grown-ups (especially parents), they have a great necessity to use mobile phones for making urgent calls, controlling children. As far as university students  and  people of such professions as teachers, engineers is concerned they’re absolutely sure that the most important gadget is a computer. They extremely need it for their work.

But if we take housewives into consideration, it goes without saying they believe the most important gadgets are washing machines, vacuum cleaners, stoves and all kinds of cooking inventions.

To sum up, nowadays there are a lot of gadgets. But a mobile phone is a winner among them according its popularity. And as for the most important gadget, it depends on the way of living and a kind of job of people.
