Тип урока: повторительно-обобщающий.

Цели: 1. коммуникативная- применение обучающимися лексического и грамматического  

             материала в речевых образцах

            2. развивающая- развитие способности к анализу, к догадке, к формированию

             выводов из прочитанного

            3. образовательная- ориентация на формирование развития аудитивных навыков и

             умений

            4. воспитательная- формирование потребности учитывать статус собеседников в

            разных ситуациях общения и использовать речь, адекватную ситуации общения.

Оборудование: 1. компьютер (слайды с известными людьми)

                               2. карточки с заданиями.

                               Ход урока.

I.Приветствие: Good morning, children!

Речевая зарядка: Let`s revise the English tenses. Well, answer the following questions, using present simple, past simple, future simple, present continuous and present perfect.

What date is it today?

What date was it yesterday?

What date will it be tomorrow ?

What are you doing now ?

What lessons have you already had?

II. Фонетическая зарядка: Let`splay. What starts with the sound [ ð].

   This, that, these, those

    Snap your fingers,

Touch your nose,

This, that, those, these

Shrug your shoulders,

Band your knees.

(имитационный вид упражнения).

III. Today we`ll continue speaking about famous people. Maybe everybody wants to be a successful person and he/ she would like to become the famous in his/ her occupations/ jobs. Let`s revise some words such as artist, musician, actor, sailor, writer, lawyer. Your task is to read, choose and write.

  1. A person who performs at the theatre, on TV, etc (actor)
  2. A person who works on a ship. (sailor)
  3. A person who writes stories. (writer)
  4. A person who gives us advice about the law. (lawyer)
  5. A person who paints pictures. (artist)
  6. A person who writes or plays music. (musician)

IV. Now let`s test your memory. On the smartboard you can see the famous people of English- speaking countries. Your task is to guess them. Let`s listen to small stories about them. Who are these lines about?

  1. T- He was a famous English writer of the 18th century. He wrote his world famous novel when he was nearly 60 years old.

P- In my opinion, it is Daniel Defoe.

  1. T- He was the son of a barber. At the age of 15 he exhibited his first picture. He was famous for the wonderful colours in his pictures. Most of them were landscapes and sea pictures.

P- I think, these lines are about Joseph Turner.

  1. T - He was born at the end of the 19th century in 1892. At school he was fond of languages but not just modern languages- he also liked ancient languages. He spoke six ancient languages and even made up his own languages.

P- He is John R.R. Tolkien.

  1. T- He is a well- known scientist. As a boy, he collected all kinds of things, minerals, birds, eggs, insects. He carried out chemical experiments in the school garden. His nickname was «Gas».

P- It seems to me, it was Charles Darwin.

  1. T- He was the famous American writer. He was well- known as a lecturer. Literary clubs often invited him to speak. He is famous for his books «The Adventures of Tom Sawyer» and «The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn».

P- It was Mark Twain.

  1. T- He was an outstanding British actor and producer. He was born in 1889. He usually played a tramp in silent black and white comedy films.

P- I think, it is Charlie Chaplin.

T- Well done.

V. T- Now on the shelf you can see three books «Treasure  Island», «The Hound of the Baskervilles», «Prince William». Read the stories about these books and fill in. Then, match.

A  Prince Charles and Princess Diana`s first child, a son,1…(be) born on 21st June, 1982, in St Mary`s Hospital, London. Many people in Britain 2…(be) very exited because they 3…(have) a new prince! Prince Charles 4…(want) to call their son Arthur, but Diana 5…(not/like) this name…

B  We 1…(sail) very early in the morning. I 2…(feel) really tired, but everything 3…(be) new and interesting. The men 4…(be) good sailors and the captain 5…(know) his job well. All the men on the ship 6…(like) Long John Silver. Silver 7…(be) always pleased to see…

C  We 1…(hear) a loud scream. Then, in front of us, I 2…(see) the terrible dog. Its mouth and teeth 3…(be) huge! Suddenly, it 4…(jump) at Sir Henry and he 5…(fall) to the ground. The dog`s teeth 6…(go) for Sir Henry`s throat…

VI. Let`s role-play the dialogue. Look at the photos of the famous people ( Robert Louis Stivenson, Elvis Presley, Leonardo da Vinci, Rudolf Nureyev, Albert Einstein) on the smartboard and ask your partner questions about them. Let`s act out similar dialogues using the prompts given as a model.

A: Who was Leonardo da Vinci?

B: He was an Italian artist.

A: When was he born?

B: He was born in fourteen fifty-two.

VII. Let`s check your homework. Your previous home task was to make up a story about a famous person. Some pupils will retell and others ask questions using  English grammar tenses.

VIII. Now we have to read the text about Robert Louis Stivenson and fill in the events next to the years.

Robert Louis Stivenson was a famous Scottish writer. He was the person who created characters such as Dr Jekyll,Mr Hyde and Long John Silver. People all over the world, young and old, still read his popular stories.

  Robert Louis Stivenson was born in Edinburgh in 1850. As a child, he was often ill in bed, so he read a lot of books. He loved reading stories and began  writing when he was quite young. Stivenson studied at Edinburgh University. His father  wanted him to be an engineer , but  Stivenson didn`t like the idea. Instead, he agreed to become a lawyer.

    In 1880, Stivenson  married  an American woman, Fanny Osbourne. Together they travelled to many different countries! Finally, in 1890, they decided to live on the island of Samoa. Some of Stivenson`s greatest stories are «Treasure Island», «Kidnapped», and  «The Strange Case of Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde».

Robert  Louis Stivenson  died in 1894, at the age of 44.  He died young, but he left behindhis wonderful  stories  for us to remember him  by!
