Teacher of the 21st century – who is he, what is he?  Every teacher wonders about it.  In my mind teacher is a conductor, who conducts orchestra.

Every child is a musical instrument: violin, flute, harp and many others. Everyone of them is unique, everyone has its own sound, melody. Only conductor’s skill and attention to these instruments will be able to make wonderful melody. Melody not only work of the conductor and musical instrument. It is also work of musician. Musician is a parent.  If musician does not look after and take care of his instrument, instrument will not be sound. For work of orchestra is necessary 3 components: conductor, musical instrument and musician.

There are those who thinks that everything is depend on teacher-conductor, his skill, experience. But whether only conductor-teacher, musical instruments-students without musician-parents making sounds and melody?

Studying process cannot be implemented one-sided. Every part of process should work, work hard.

Students have to be open-minded to new knowledge and skills, to follow the teacher. Their parents

have to support them and cooperate with school and teacher. Because everyone of process (musician and conductor) wish that musical instrument  make a wonderful melody. Parents and teacher wish that student will be successful.

What am  I going to do as an English teacher to engage with the 21st century skills? As a conductor-teacher, I should become closer to my students, not to be Digital Immigrant Instructors, not to speak an outdated language, let them use different tools in searching information in preparing for the lessons. I have to feel the melody of student’s soul. And give them a chance and opportunity to know their possibility. To help them to use their knowledge in  real life. So, thanks to modern technology we have many information sources for preparation for lessons. Today′s teachers have to learn to communicate in the language and style of  students. We have to use all toys and tools of the digital age not worse than our students do if we really want to teach them anything. Teachers are no longer the main source of information. We should not forget our roles. First of all we are conductors, helpers, friends, psychologists, organizers, controllers, participants. Of course it is not so difficult to find the information in search engine. But the problem is that students don′t know what to do with all this huge texts. Only teachers can show how to validate information, synthesize it, leverage information, communicate information and collaborate with it. At the same time, teachers should interact with each other, to share with knowledges and experiences. Has to be improved and social mobility.
