Цели урока: Тренировка навыков устной речи по теме «Лондон»; совершенствование навыков говорения (диалогической и монологической речи); активизация грамматических навыков

1. Организационный момент

Hello, my friends. Sit down, please.

What date is it today?   What day of the week is it today?

Do you like to travel? – I’m glad to hear it.

What’s the capital (read, translate) of Britain? (Moscow is the capital of Russia.)

Today we are going to have a trip to London. Наше путешествие будет продолжаться ещё 20 уроков. The title of our lesson is “Discovering London”

2. The 1-st place is Shakespeare’s Global Theatre. Не случайно мы начинаем наше путешествие с Шекспировскогот театра Глобус, т.к. именно Шекспир стал писать на английском языке. И мы сейчас потренируемся говорить на правильном английском языке. Take these sheets of paper with the chant “Departure and Return Home”

4. Now we’ll have a look at Westminster Abbey. Tourists ['tυәrists] in London always want to visit Westminster and see Big Ben. Let’s read a piece of information about this place. Open your text-books on page 65 Ex. 16 text 3. Begin, please.

Standing not far from the Houses of Parliament, Westminster Abbey is a symbol of England. The legend says that Westminster Abbey was founded by St Peter himself. We know that Westminster Abbey was built by King Edward in 1065. The coronation of all British Kings and Queens takes place in  Westminster Abbey. Some famous English people are also buried here. The funeral service for Diana, Princess of  Wales took place in Westminster Abbey in September 1997.

Now let’s check. You have red and green cards on your desks. Listen to the sentences and raise a green card if you agree and a red card if you disagree.

6. We’ve just visited Westminster Abby and now you can see Big Ben. Listen to …, he’s going to retell us about Big Ben.

7. Now we have to cross the bridge, Tower Bridge. To do it we’ll revise grammar: Present Simple/Present Progressive.

8. At the previous lesson we’ve learned about the Bloody Tower. What do you remember? You may speak Russian. (Кровавая башня – рядом с рекой Темза,  имеет кровавую историю – кровь мужчин, женщин и даже детей.)

Now please listen to a story about the White Tower. You can read the translation.

It was a fortress, a palace, a prison and the King's Zoo. Now it is a museum. You can see a lot of interesting things in the halls of this building. William the Conqueror built it in the eleventh century. Twelve black ravens live in it. People believe that London will be rich while the ravens live there.

11. Have a look at The Royal Exchange. Это центр коммерции в Лондоне, именно здесь объявляют короля и королеву, но посетителей не пускают внутрь.

  12. Now the other famous place –

Buckingham Palace is a wonderful building. The Queen Victoria Memorial is in  front of it. It takes you ten minutes to get from this building to Trafalgar Square, the centre of London. The Queen of Great Britain lives there. When the Queen is in London, she stays in  Buckingham Palace.
