Unit 2 Talking on family matters

Данный вид работы способствует развитию умения аргументации своей точки зрения, а также аргументации оппонента (вторая и третья часть сочинения-рассуждения). Представлено несколько тем сочинений-рассуждений

1  Having a part-time job has many advantages for school students

Your arguments

Opponent’s arguments

  • Students have an opportunity to communicate with people of different age
  • There is less time for having  fun and friends
  • They learn to earn money and value (appreciate) the other people’s work.
  • They can’t earn enough money any way
  • This work gives them time management skills
  • Parents are not satisfied with this idea

  • Students become more mature and serious.
  • It can disturb the school.

2   People should treat pets like family members

Your arguments

  • Pets become friends for their little owners
  • People spend too much money much more they really need
  • Pets give all the family members the lesson of kindness.
  • Some people pay more attention on pets than on children
  • Pets reduce emotional and psychological depression.

3  Children must have their own pocket  money

  • They learn how to use and spend money correctly and beneficially
  • They can waste money for unnecessary things such as sweets, computer games
  • They need to earn them themselves
  • Money can spoil children
  • Money give children feeling of confidence and independence

4   Every family member should have his own room

  • To create something people need to be isolated in his own area
  • Modern flats are too expensive
  • Living in one room can cause the conflicts between members of the family
  • Sharing room with brother  or sister helps to socialize successfully
  • Separate room protects your privacy

5   It’s beneficial to have elder brother or sister

  • The senior brother can help , support in difficult situation
  • The contacts between brothers or sisters can cause blaming conflicts
  • The junior can get an experience   communicating with him or her
  • The junior should use old things of elder brother such as clothes, games and bikes

6  It is best to marry when you are mature

  • People get financially independent
  • People become more demanding
  • Elder people are more responsible for their actions and behavior , they appreciate what other people feel
  • They find difficult to change their lifestyle (their habits)

  • Getting elder people know what they want to have (how many children, what kind of flat or house, place for living)
  • Career becomes more important

7  Children today are more socially adapted than their parents

  • Diving into the ocean of the virtual world of the Internet children cant adopt themselves into the real life
  • Children learn, experience and practice and socialize more while parents are earning money at work
  • Impact of gadgets  on children  makes harm not benefit  on children’s mind and soul
  • The time changes too quickly and only children can follow these changes
  • Incredible amount of information can’t be used by children correctly and beneficially for them
  • Children are involved in many social activities since early times of childhood (volunteering and sports, creativity)
  • The early uncontrolled communication and experience  can be harmful and even dangerous
