  1. Организационный момент.

Ladies and Gentlemen! I’m here with my students and our guests willing to discuss some family issues concerning teenagers and adults. Our theme is ‘Talking on family matters’. We will train our listening skills, repeat the vocabulary and act out the role play.

     2.Речевая разминка.

    I’d like to begin our lesson with some questions.

 What kind of family do you live in? Is it an extended or a nuclear family?

Have you got many relatives? Who is the person closest to you? Why?

Have you ever thought about your own family?

What kind of family would you like to live in? Why?

It’s good to have a family round you, isn’t it?

What is your family for you?

3.Опрос домашнего задания.

Now we will practice the vocabulary on the theme ‘Family’.

  argument – an angry disagreement between two or more people;

  cope with – to deal successfully with a difficult situation or job;

   talk through – to discuss a plan or situation in a detailed way;

   conflict – a disagreement between people or groups;

   fake – false;

  provoke – to deliberately try to make someone angry.

4.Развитие умения аудирования с пониманием основного содержания.

Let’s listen to the Brown family taking part in the talk show Family Hour. They are discussing the problem of  whether parents should choose their children’s friends. It is the exercise 86 on the page 76. Be attentive and choose the arguments for and against.

5. Рефлексия. Презентация.

 6. Let’s do the role-play in the exercise 89 on the page 77.  You should divide yourselves into four groups. In your groups you should choose a father, a mother, a girl Jessica and a boy Mark. Discuss the situation given in this exercise in ‘ your’ families.  I’ll give you 2-3 minutes to prepare to take part in it. For example:  Mother: I don’t really like your friend. He’s so untidy, speaks a lot of rude words.

       Son: But he’s a really interesting person. I enjoy speaking with him about   life, music, books.

Mother: He’s got a bad taste. All his clothes, manner of speaking- it’s much annoying.

Son : For me it’s OK. He’s so funny and always tells good jokes and anecdotes.

Mother: I’d prefer if you had a more serious friend. In this case I wouldn’t worry so much.

Son : Don’t worry,  mum! He’s a really good friend of mine.

 You can use this dialogue vocabulary.

In my opinion parents have the right to choose friends for us because they have much life experience.

I feel strongly against the idea teens should choose their friends themselves because they can get into a bad company.

I am positively that parents know better how to choose friends. They can feel our problems and help us to solve them.

And to my mind teens and parents should talk about choosing their friends and come to a compromise.

It’s a good idea to discuss choosing friends with parents because I think they can give us a good advice.

But I like him because he is finny, free and independent person. It’s cool to make friends with him.

You know I am not a person who interferes in you relationships with friends but the situation goes from bad to worse. You had bad marks and you were seen drunk in school party twice. I think we should seat down and discuss this problem together.

. In conclusion I want you to read some wise messages from our ancestors, I mean  proverbs. Will you read and explain how you understand them. Give Russian equivalents if possible.

  1. Birds in their little nests agree.- Где мир и лад , там божья благодать.If families wish to be happy they should live in harmony.
  2. Like father like son.- Яблоко от яблони недалеко падает.Many sons take after their fathers, not only in looks but also in character.
  3. What is bred in the bone will never come out of the flesh.-  Отец рыбак и дети в воду глядят. We inherit certain characteristics from our ancestors and those characteristics will be inherited from us by our descendants.
  4. Blood is thicker than water.- Ссора в семье до первого взгляда. Family relationships are usually stronger than any other ones .
