  1. Read the following text and mark the sentences T (true) or F (false).

The person I admire the most is Albert Einstein. He was born on 14th March, 1879, in the Germantown of Ulm in Wurttemburg. Einstein was the greatest scientist of all time. One of his most famous discoveries is the mathematical equation about the nature of energy: E = mc 2. Einstein loved physics and learning. He never stopped exploring the world of science and he wrote many books and articles explaining his theories. Some of them are at the Institute of Advanced Study in Princeton. People in universities all over the world respected Einstein. He was awarded with honorary degrees in science, medicine and philosophy. In 1921, he was awarded the Nobel Prize in Physics. Despite his intelligence, Einstein is also famous for being a very funny man! I admire Albert Einstein for his love of learning and the fact that he discovered new things. He always kept his mind active.

Упражнение 2. Make up conditional 1 sentences with if-clauses.

  4. ride a bike / get there quickly 
  5. eat carrots/see well in the dark .
  6. come now/go out together

Упражнение 3. Connect the sentences with when or if to form the first conditional.

Example: Jack will come. We shall play chess. — When Jack comes, we shall play chess.

  1. All the pupils will come to school tomorrow. We shall write a test then.
  2. I’ll meet Ann after school. I’ll give her my album.
  3. You’ll not do your homework. The teacher will be angry.
  4. Mike won’t come today. We’ll play football without him.

Упражнение 3.  Объедините предложения по образцу так, чтобы получилось условное предложение 1 типа.

Образец.   I will pass this exam. I will go to the university. = If I pass this exam, I will go to the university.

  1. He will find a cheap flat. He will stay here for two more weeks.
  2.  She will help me. I will do my work on time.
  3. We will visit the museum. We will have no time.

 Упражнение 4.  Раскройте скобки, употребляя глаголы в правильной форме. Переведите текст на русский язык

 Text

Laura (live) in a big city. If she (live) in the country, she (have) a dog. Laura (share) a flat with three other girls. But if it (be) possible, she (live) on her own. If she (live) in the country, she (buy) a little cottage, and she (grow) her own flowers and vegetables. She (love) walking and often (go) for a walk in town, but the streets are noisy. If she (live) in the country, she (walk) across the fields with her dog.
