Young people have many opportunities when they leave school. It is very important for a person to make the right choice because when you choose your future profession you choose your way in life. This choice can influence your whole life.

T: And now I want you to listen to the text about one of unusual professions. Your task is to listen to the text, name the person and his profession and make notes about what happened during the following dates. Be attentive. You will listen to the text twice.
(учащиеся прослушивают текст и заполняют таблицу)

Now change your papers to check up this task. And I`ll show the right variant.
(Самопроверка учащихся- проверяется правильность заполнения дат)
7. Викторина по аудированию текста.
T: Let`s do a funny quiz on V. Bering`s biography.
8. Совершенствование навыков чтения и устной речи.
T: You all understand that choosing a career is the problem of vital necessity for many teenagers and most of them are afraid of facing the real world. Now read the interview and be ready to discuss it.
“Facing the real world”
– Have you already begun developing your plans for the future?
– It is very difficult to give a definite answer right now. But every time I am asked the question “What do you want to be?” I feel nervous. I usually never tell the truth and say “I haven’t the idea” yet.
– But why? Have you ever turned to your parents for advice?
– Oh. My mother is convinced that I should follow in the footsteps of my father and become a lawyer. My granny thinks that I should find a nice wealthy man to marry. And my father says “Just do what makes you happy”. My uncle encourages me by promising a job in his company. Being child I wanted to be like a cashier in the supermarket with long hair, blue eye shadows and long fingernail moving the cash. But my mother would say “You are not suitable for the job like that. You are too smart”. It is very difficult to face the real world after being spoonfed with knowledge at school. And the question “What do you want to be?” never used to be threatening like now.
What if I choose the wrong thing and feel regret a mistake in future? Of course like everyone I have some skills and interests and inclinations. But they seem to be undeveloped and may not seem outstanding.
I realize that I should plan out the rest of my life and explore my choice from every angle.
Questions for discussion:
1. What problems are involved in this interview?
2. Why is the girl afraid to enter the real world after school?
3. What does the real world mean for her? And for you?
4. Why does her mother say that she is too smart to be a cashier?
5. Does it mean that a man doing a less prestigious work is a loser?
6. What would you do if you were in the same situation? Give your piece of advice.
P1. If I were in her situation I would explore my choice from every angle before jumping into the work world.
P2. If I were in her situation I wouldn’t turn to her parents for advice, because they do not understand her, but I would speak to my teachers, ask them about advantages and disadvantages of the job.
P3. If I were in her place I would start with myself. I would make a list of my interests, talents, and abilities. And then I would try to find out where my interest lie, and take them into account.
T: At home you had to ask questions on this text. How many questions did each group have?
I give you 1 min. to count your questions. They shouldn`t be repeated. … How many questions do you have? Read your questions.
T: I give you 1 min. to choose 3 most interesting questions from each group to ask them to another group. And each group should answer these questions. Think a little.
9. Самооценивание команд.
T: And now I want you to evaluate the work of another group for the work with the text. Give you reasons. Try to be objective.
10. Обсуждение вопросов.
T: So let`s discuss some questions. They are on the slide.
1. What would you like to be when you finish school?
2. What factors influence the career choice?
3. What skills are necessary for your job?
4. What qualities are valued in different jobs?
5. What subjects are important for your profession?
T: Thanks for your answers.

T: Are you ready? Who would like to read your cinquain? Go to the blackboard.
6. Заключительный этап урока. Домашнее задание.
- Thank you very much for your work. I hope that you will do the right choice school. Your home task is to write CV. To get a good job you need a good RESUME (American CV). It is a document that gives details of your qualifications and the jobs you have had.
You will have to write down:
- personal information
- objective
- education
- work
- experience
- language
- other skills, hobbies and activities
- references
In order to do your work easier I give you the sample of the resume and the glossary.
Resume in English is an excellent opportunity to get an excellent job, a bad resume – you will lose an opportunity.
Отличное резюме на английском языке – отличная возможность получить желаемую работу, плохое резюме – потерянная возможность.
