St. Alexander Nevsky Sofronievsky Monastery is in Korablinsky district, near the village Iberdsky. It is unusual for legally it is considered a temple (храмом), as only one monk lives there – the prior Nicholay. The monastery was founded as female now is as male.

A peasant of Ryazhsky district Egor Rodin donated (пожертвовал) his land for the monastery. It was founded in memory of the liberation of the peasants from serfdom (крепостной зависимости) and the miraculous saving of the tsar family in 1888 in the crash of the royal train.

In 1892 Sophrony Iberdsky (Lisin, 1825-1914) laid the first stone of the church. Then small houses for future nuns (монахинь) were built round the church. First the place got the name of Alexander Nevsky hospice (богадельня). 1904 – a female hostel (общежитие), 1907 - a monastery.

In 1918 the monastery was closed. In 1949 the Alexander Nevsky church was completely razed to the ground (стерт с лица земли). Bricks were used to build the barn (коровника). Some icons residents kept in their houses. The remaining (оставшиеся) buildings were housed by foresters.

But since 1996, the monastery has been restoring. Today we can see a revived (возрожденную) church, a belfry, a cemetery. In the cemetery there is a grave of Sophrony, first nuns and residents of the nearest villages.

Александро-Невская богадельня была основана на земле, принадлежавшей крестьянину села Мостья Ряжского уезда Егору Наумову Родину, и пожертвованной им в память освобождения крестьян от крепостной зависимости и чудесного избавления и спасения жизни государя Александра Александровича и супруги его Марии Феодоровны и сына их Николая Александровича 17 октября 1888 года во время крушения царского поезда на перегоне Тарановка — Борки Юго-Западной железной дороги.

Священный Синод постановил в память этого чуда основывать церкви и монастыри.

В начале 1892 года первый камень храма был заложен праведным Софронием Ибердским (Лисин,1825-1914), а 11 июля 1892 года храм был освящен в честь благоверного князя Александра Невского, Святителя Николая Чудотворца и иконы Божией Матери «Знамение». При храме стали возводиться небольшие дома для будущих инокинь. Место получило наименование сначала Александро-Невской Богадельни.

3 марта 1904 года по указу Священного Синода богадельня была обращена в женское общежитие. 7 мая 1907 года женская община Святейшим Синодом обращена в женский монастырь.

В 2000 году старец Софроний причислен к лику святых. От его мощей постоянно происходят исцеления. Еще одна драгоценная реликвия в храме - чудотворная икона Божией Матери «Скоропослушница». Есть и чудотворный колодец недалеко от храма, в народе его называют Софрониевым
