Страноведческие знания являются частью социокультурной компетенции, без владения которой невозможно полноценно сформировать языковую и коммуникативную компетенции. Знание культуры Соединённого Королевства усиливает мотивацию к изучению английского языка, способствует повышению уровня гуманитарного образования учащихся посредством приобщения их к духовному и историческому богатству данной страны. Рабочая программа отводит на изучение темы «Великобритания» недостаточное количество учебных часов. Многие интересные события, личности, достопримечательности остаются неизученными.
