GRAMMAR REFERENCE

Множественное число существительных

  • Большинство английских существительных во множественном числе имеют окончание –s:

map карта — maps  карты,

pen ручка — pens  ручки

  • Существительные, оканчивающиеся на -o, -s, -ss, -x, -ch, -sh, 
    образуют множественное число путем прибавления 
    es к форме единственного числа:

box коробка — boxes коробки;

match спичка — matches спички

  • К существительным, оканчивающимся в единственном числе на -y с предшествующей согласной, во множественном числе прибавляется  -es, причем -y меняется на -i-:

library библиотека 

libraries библиотеки

  • Если перед -y стоит гласная буква, то -y не изменяется:

day день  days дни

  • Существительные, оканчивающиеся на -fe, при образовании множественного числа меняют -f- на -v- :

knife нож  knives [ naivz ] ножи

  • Исключения:

maчеловек  meлюди,  womaженщина  womeженщины, child ребенок  children дети, goose гусь geese гуси,  mousмышь  micмыши, tooth зуб  teeth зубы, foot ступня — feeступни

Глагол to be

Настоящее время (am, is, are)

He is a captain. (He isn’t a captain. Is he a captain?)

They are doctors. (They aren’t doctors. Are they doctors?)

Прошедшее время (was, were)

He was a lieutenant. (He wasn’t a lieutenant. Was he a lieutenant?)

We were at home. (We weren’t at home. Were we at home?)

Глагол to have got

I (we, you, they) have got a dog. I haven’t got a dog. Have I got a dog?

He (she, it) has got a car. He hasn’t got a car. Has he got a car?

Some/any, much/many

SOME обозначает некоторое количество.

Утвердительная форма

We have got SOME apples.

Отрицательная форма

We haven't got ANY apples.

Вопросительная форма

Have you got ANY apples?

MUCH/MANY – «МНОГО».
