Материал посвящён разбору одной из сложных тем английской грамматики — выбору между инфинитивом (Infinitive) и ing-формой (Gerund / ing-form). В презентации наглядно разбираются случаи употребления: когда нужен инфинитив (с частицей to или без неё), а когда — герундий (форма с -ing). Приводятся примеры, объясняются нюансы (в том числе ситуации, когда после глагола может стоять и то, и другое, но с разным смыслом). Для закрепления материала включены несложные упражнения.

ex.1. Read the text and find all the -ing and infinitive forms.
„ You might think I'm mad, but I don't mind helping with the housework. I quite enjoy cleaning in fact! Some teenagers get so upset about helping out, but I think we should do our fair share. In our family, my brother was always thing up excuses to get out of chores, so my mum drew up a chore chart! She's reasonable, though. She wants us to take por responsibilities seriously, but if my brother or I are too busy to help because we have exams, for example, she lets us take it easy for a while!“

The use of to-infinitive
After: too / enough constructions verbs of preferences ( like , hate , etc) to express purpose want remind etc can't wait
e.g. I can't wait to fly to Germany this summer.
The use of infinitive without to
After: modal verbs let / make
e.g. Steve's mother made him do his homework.
ex.2. Put the words in brackets into the correct form of the infinitive , -ing form or infinitive without to .
