Урок английского языка  Discovering places of interest
(к УМК «Enjoy English» М.З. Биболетовой, 5 класс, цикл 3)

1. Орг.момент:  Hello, dear friends! We are glad to see you today. How are you? What is the weather like today?

Look at the blackboard, please. What can you see? What information can you get from it? Do you often use a map and where? What modern gadget can you use instead of it?

And now guess …. what are we going to talk about? Yes, of course. We are going to talk about the most interesting places of London and Moscow. 

2. Today at the lesson we will:

- talk about famous sights of London and Moscow,

- listen to a dialogue and make up our own ones,

- read  texts, put in  missing words and do exercises,

- revise tag-questions, the article the

Повторение лексики:

Listen and repeat. Then find the pairs of words which sound similar: Ex. 27 p. 94

4. Фонетическая зарядка: Listen  and pronounce the names of the places carefully, pay attention to the article the:
  Red Square, the Bolshoy Theatre, the Kremlin, Trafalgar Square, the Tower of London, the Houses of Parliament, Big Ben, Westminster Abbey, Tower Bridge, Buckingham Palace, Changing of the Guard.

5. Развитие навыков аудирования.

1). Listen to the dialogue and say
- what places of interest Oleg saw in the morning
- what place of interest Oleg is going to see tomorrow
                  (listening for specific information)

2). Listen to the dialogue again and say if the following statements are true or false

1. The weather is nice today.    
2. It will be rainy tomorrow.  
3. Oleg doesn’t like his stay in London.  
4. Oleg saw Westminster Abbey and the Tower this morning.
5. He has a lot of plans for tomorrow evening.
6. Oleg is making a video film about London.
7. Oleg is from Moscow.

3). Add the tag endings.

1). It has a long and cruel history. It was a palace, a prison. There is a museum here now.

2). The coronation of all British Kings and Queens takes place here. Some English famous people are also buried here.

3). British people like to rest and relax here. In the centre there is the Nelson’s Column.

4). It is the London home of the Queen. Here you can see the Changing of the Guard.

This is a favourite camp song that you might already know. As soon as we finish, everyone wants to do it again!     Actions:
"mm" - Hands closed facing front on either side of face, eyes and mouth closed. 
"AH" - Open wide hands, mouth, and eyes. This happens each time you sing this. 
"Vo do di o...". - Roll hands in front of you. Lean to the side, changing sides with each “Vo."
"mm AAH!”, went the little green frog one day.

All the other frogs went, “Vo do di o di o! (di = dee)
