Тема: Урок Popular British Sports and Games

Тип: комбинированный .

Цель урока: формирование лексико-грамматических навыков, развитие умений аудирования, монологической и диалогической речи, частично-поискового чтения.

Развивающий компонент цели урока: развитие языковых, интеллектуальных и познавательных способностей учащихся; готовности к коммуникации.

Образовательный компонент цели урока: расширение лингвистического кругозора, развитие эрудиции и языковой догадки, знакомство с аутентичным материалом, развитие способности анализировать, выделять главное.

Воспитательный компонент цели урока: создание условий для поддержания интереса к изучению иностранного языка и формированию познавательной активности учащихся, приобщение к культуре англо-говорящих стран.

Практический компонент цели урока: практическое использование новых лексических единиц и грамматических навыков в речи для обеспечения коммуникативных потребностей учащихся, совершенствование фонетических навыков на базе фонетических упражнений.

1. Верещагина И.Н., Афанасьева О.В. Английский язык для 5 кл. школ с углубленным изучением.

2. Дидактический материал для работы на доске и для семантизации новых лексических единиц.

3. Индивидуальный дидактический материал.

4. Интерактивная доска, проектор.

5. Стикеры (smiles: happy, sad, so-so) для оценивания определенных этапов урока.

6. Мел, магниты.

7. Интернет соединение.

План урока.

I. Оргмомент.

The bell has rung. Stand up, boys and girls! Good morning, students! I’m glad to see you. Sit down. How are you today? ( T. asks every student throwing a ball to him/her) Who`s absent today? What are we going to speak about? Now I would like  you to watch the video and  then I will ask you some questions about this dialogue. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CLvWJpKqGNM

1)      What are the giraffe’s favorite sports?

2)      What sports does  the elephant do?

3)      Who teaches elephant karate?

4)      How often  does giraffe do running?

Look at the blackboard. There is a password of our lesson, but one word is missed. What is it? Yes, you are quite right! Thus, we are going to speak about sport.

III. Речевая зарядка.

The British people, like everyone else, like sports and games. Let’s revise them, look at the picture and guess what it is.  

Football, cricket, tennis, golf, field hockey, athletics, climbing, horse-riding, rugby, boating, rowing.

All these kinds of sport can be divided into team – if more than 1 sportsman take part in it – and individual  - if 1 sportsman takes part in it. The next task is to group the names of sports according to this point .

Let’s check yourselves .

And now  name Russian sports and games. Look at the board.

IV. Актуализация пройденного материала.

We are going to read and talk about popular British sports and games. So you need to learn some new words on this topic. But now we will check up your home task.  What was your home task?  Was it difficult for you? Ex.9 p.235. Let’s check your sentences.

V. Тренировка в чтении.

Excellent job, students. Now let’s do some short test with using if/when clauses. Open the brackets and put the verbs into the correct form.

  1. I (phone) you when I (arrive) in London.

Let’s check up each other.  Now I would like you to open your books at p.239, ex.19, please. We will read this text and learn what sports and games were invented in Britain.  Now I will divide into groups:  the first group -Almaz, Ilnaz, Almir,; the second group –Dilya, Ilnaz Alsu ; the third grour- Razil, , Aisilu, Adelya; the forth group- Ruslan, Bulat Ranil,  Each group is given a part of the text . In 5 minutes you are to tell us what you have read about. The others should be attentive and memorize as much as possible because after that you have to do the tasks on the whole (целый) text.

Let’s check up how have you understood this text.

Look at the blackboard! There are 10 cards with the numbers. Choose one and use the given key-word in your own sentence about popular British sports and games. For example, dangerous -Cricket is a long dangerous and slow game.

The Cup Final (The two best football teams compete at The Cup Final.)

VII. Практика в аудировании и устной речи.

Now I’d like to talk about sport in Russia. First let’s listen the text.

Russian people have always paid much attention to sport. Sport keeps people fit and healthy and makes them better disciplined in their daily life. Many kinds of sports, both winter and summer, are popular in Russia.

The most popular outdoor winter sports are shooting, hunting, hockey and in the countries where the weather is frosty and there is much snow-skating, skiing and tobogganing. Some people greatly enjoy figure-skating and ski-jumping.

Summer affords excellent opportunities for swimming, boating, yachting, cycling and many other sports. Among outdoor games football takes the first place in public interest. This game is played in all the countries of the world. The other favourite games in different countries are golf, tennis, cricket, volleyball, basketball and so on. Badminton is also very popular.

All the year round many people indulge in boxing, wrestling, athletics, gymnastics . Among indoor games the most popular are billiards, table tennis, draughts and some others, but the great international game is chess of course. The results of chess tournaments are studied and discussed by thousands of enthusiasts in different countries. So we may say that sport is one of the things that makes all people kin.

What is great international game is?

What sports and games are popular with your classmates?

VIII. Закрепление изученного материала.

Very well, students. And now I would like you to make your own dialogues about sports. This task for the first and second pair.

Dan: Do you like sports?

Bob: Yes, I do.

Dan: What sports do you go in for?

Bob: I go in for hockey in winter and football in summer. And what about you?

Dan: I like skating in winter and volleyball and tennis in summer.

Bob: Can you play tennis well?

Dan: Yes, I can. And what sport game can you play well?

Bob: I think I can play hockey well. I want to be a sportsman.

Dan: Oh, that’s fine.

The third pair  read the description and give the name of sport.

The fourth team answer the questions.

  1. What summer sports do you know?
  2. What winter sports do you know?
  3. Which are indoor sports?
  4. Which are outdoor sports?

The fifth pair give the name

  • The person who plays sports –  sportsman
  • The person who trains sportsmen – coach
  • The person who plays volleyball – volleyball player
  • The place people skate on –  skating rink

The sixth pair tell us about their favourite sport.

-And now I would like you to watch a short film about sport in Britain.

- The film is rather interesting and informative, isn’t it? And your home task is connected with it. Today you have different tasks.

IX. Домашнее задание.

   Look, the 1st  one– to compose dialogues  - is for Dilya, Alsu, Ranil and Ilnaz; the 2nd one – to make up a test (not less than 10 questions) is for Razil, Aisilu, Almir  and Razil; and the 3rd  one is especially  for Almaz, Bulat, Ilnaz. As far as they are practically professional sportsmen, I think you have their idols in sport, don’t you? Thus, write a short report (сообщение) about your favorite sportsmen (not less than 10 sentences), if you can bring photos. Is everything clear?
