Тема: To be going to and Present Continuous for the Future.

Форма проведения: смешанная (беседа, объяснение грамматического материала, выполнение упражнений…)

Продолжительность урока: 60 мин.

Цели: 

учебный аспект — формирование грамматических навыков использования конструкции to be going to and Present Continuous для выражения будущего времени; формирование навыков говорения;

развивающий аспект — развитие способности к анализу; развитие объема внимания; развитие умения понимать содержание грамматических конструкций; развитие воображения;

воспитательный аспект —воспитывать самостоятельность, умение решать поставленные задачи.

Задачи: 

Образовательные:

  • ознакомление учащихся с новым грамматическим материалом и его закрепление;

Развивающие:

  • развивать внимание, память, логическое мышление, любознательность;
  • способствовать развитию коммуникативной компетенции;

Воспитательные:  

  • прививать любовь и интерес к иностранному языку;
  • воспитывать самостоятельность, инициативность.

Практические:

  • ввести новый грамматический материал;
  • закрепить грамматический материал.

Оснащение урока: доска, мел, раздаточный материал (новый грамматический материал; упражнение на отработку грамматического материала).

Предварительная работа с классом не запланирована.

Предварительная работа Учителя:

  • подготовить раздаточный материал;
  • распечатать раздаточный материал по количеству учащихся класса.

- Today we are going to learn more about the construction “be going to” and Present Continuous to express the Future. So, we are going to work hard and besides you will learn a lot of interesting.

- Before we can start our lesson, let’s read some words which are difficult to pronounce. Take, please, these sheets of paper. Repeat after me:

- Now we are going to learn some new grammar material.

To be going to and Present Continuous for the Future.

In addition to the Future Simple we can talk about future events by using either:

•        the present continuous, or

•        to be (in the simple present) + going to +verb.

These two forms are used to talk about future plans. There are, however, some differences between the two forms.

1. The Present Continuous for future plans:

The Present Continuous is used when we say what we have planned and arranged to do at a specific time in the future. These are fixed plans with definite time and/or place.

Remember:

Certain verbs, actions or situations in sentences cannot be used with the Present Continuous with future meaning because they are not part of a plan, an arrangement  or an intention. The Present Continuous tense for the future can only be used when an action or situation can logically be planned in advance:

Let’s read the examples.

Examples:

•        I'm doing my homework this evening.

•        I'm starting university in September.

•        Sally is meeting John at seven o'clock this evening in a restaurant downtown.

My leg’s hurting next Thursday. Is NOT possible

He’s having an accident in December. Is NOT possible

It’s snowing next week.    Is NOT possible

2. To be + going to + verb:

A. We use 'going to' to express the future when we intend to do something or have decided to do something but did not arrange it. It is just an intention. Let’s read the example.

Example:

A: The windows are dirty.

B: Yes I know. I'm going to clean them later.

 = I've decided to clean them, but I haven't arranged to clean them.

B. We also use 'going to' to make predictions.

•        Watch out! You are going to break the glass.

•        It's so cloudy! I think it's going to rain.

-Is everything clear? Have you got any questions?

-Yes, everything is clear.(or, I have a question….)

-Now think up a sentence of your own, using the construction to be going to and Present Continuous. Remember the difference between the forms.

- You were absolutely right. Now take please these sheets of paper. Here are given some tasks for us to complete. So, the first task is:

Look at the words and say what is going to happen.

Use the verbs: answer, catch, have, hit, light

Use the objects: the ball, a bath, a bus, the firework, the phone.

You have 2 minutes to combine our own sentences.

-She is going to hit the ball.

Thank you. Everything was correct. The next task is to look at the situations below and write a sentence with Present Continuous. Use the verbs in brackets.

Laura has agreed to be in the office on Sunday. (work)

Claire has just bought a plane ticket to Cairo dated 15 May. (fly)

Mark has arranged a meeting with his boss at four o’clock this afternoon. (see)

Matthew and Daniel have booked a tennis court for tomorrow afternoon.(play)

Laura is working in the office on Sunday.

-Well done! Now look at the excise 3. Put the verbs in brackets in correct form.

My sister _________ (give) me her car when she gets her new one.

We _________ (have) a barbecue on Sunday.

I__________(work) in summer.        

I__________ (send) him a telegram.        

We___________(get) married in June.
