Цель урока: Обучение письменной речи

Деятелъностная: тренировать в аудировании,  чтении и устной речи.

Содержательная: расширение знаний о различных профессиях.

Задачи урока:

Образовательные: 

• тренировка произносительных навыков;
• развитие речевых умений.

Воспитательные:

• воспитание положительного отношения к изучению иностранного языка;
• воспитание интереса к учению и формирование познавательной активности;
• формирование потребности в практическом использовании языка в различных сферах деятельности.

Развивающая:

• развитие внимания, памяти.

Планируемые результаты:

Предметные:

• расширение объема знаний по теме;
• умение писать эссе, приводя аргументы за и против.

Личностные: 

• проявление интереса к изучению английского языка;
• формирование уважения учащегося к культуре изучаемого языка.

Метапредметные:

Познавательные

• осуществлять подбор аргументов для решения учебных задач.

Ход урока.

    I. Организационный момент.

T: Good morning, boys and girls! I am glad to see you. 

    II. Речевая зарядка.

T:  Look at the screen. Match the pictures with the jobs in the list: combat soldier, trapeze artist, vet. (2 слайд)

(Key: The man with the dog is a vet. The man under the parachute is a combat soldier. The woman hanging from the rope is a trapeze artist.)

T:   What are we going to speak about today?

(Key: About different professions)

T:  What do you think the title means?

(Key: “Tricky Jobs” means jobs that require skill and good judgment as they are difficult and dangerous.)

T:  For which of the jobs shown do you need to be: tough, talented, courageous, caring, dedicated ( преданный; посвятивший себя чему-либо)?

(Key: A vet has to be caring because he treats sick animals. He also has to be dedicated because he helps animals. A combat soldier has to be tough and courageous because his job is very dangerous and risky.

A trapeze artist has to be talented because it is a job which requires natural and technical skills. He or she also has to be courageous because this job is a dangerous one.)

T:   What are the risks involved in these jobs?

(Key: Some animals needing medical care may scratch, bite or be dangerous enough to kill a vet. A combat soldier may have problems with the parachute or he could be seriously injured or even killed by the enemy.

A trapeze artist can slip and fall off the trapeze and be seriously injured.)

T:   Write down the topic of the lesson “All jobs are good” (3 слайд)

Joining similar ideas

It's a tiring job as you have to stand on your feet all day long. Also/In addition to this/What is more/Furthermore/ Moreover/Besides this, you have to work on Saturdays.

Joining contrasting ideas

• It's a dangerous job because you might get burnt. However/On the other hand/Nevertheless, you do get long holidays.

• Although/In spite of the fact (that) Despite the fact (that) it is a difficult job, it is very poorly paid.

• In spite of/Despite being a difficult job, it is very poorly paid.

• It's a difficult job, yet/but it is poorly paid.

(Key:  1. Also/ In addition to this /What is more, Furthermore / Besides this join similar ideas. They are put at the beginning of the second sentence and take a comma afterwards.

2. However/ On the other hand/Nevertheless/But / In spite of / Despite the fact/ Although/ Yet join contrasting ideas. However/On the other hand/ Nevertheless are put at the beginning of the second sentence and take a comma afterwards. Yet/ But are put in the middle of the two sentences and lake a comma before them.

Although is followed by a clause whereas in spite of/despite are followed either by a noun or an -ing form or the fact that-clause)

   All things considered, becoming a news reporter is a good idea as long as you are aware of the drawbacks.

   Have you ever considered becoming a surgeon? There are many advantages and disadvantages lo doing this kind of job.

   One of the main advantages of being a surgeon is that it is well paid because the job takes a lot of skill. Furthermore, it is rewarding as a surgeon saves people’s lives.

   However there are disadvantages to becoming a surgeon. Firstly, it is tiring because a surgeon works unsteady hours. In addition to this, it is stressful as a surgeon is responsible for people's lives.

    All things considered, becoming a surgeon is a good idea as long as you are aware of the drawbacks.

A How many of us used to dream of joining the circus when we were ш children? Well. Chris Sayers, a trapeze artist at Zippo's Circus, did just that. It took him ten years of training before he felt confident enough to perform six metres above the ground. Since then he has become one of the few people in the world who can do four somersaults one after the other. There are many risks involved in this job. Trapeze artists need to work with a partner they can depend on. When flying through the air at 60 mph, they have to be sure their partner will catch them. "Many times in the past, if I hadn't had a partner I could trust, I would have fallen and probably hurt myself seriously," says Chris. People who work in the circus love the risks and the thrill of their profession. Broken bones are part of the job."I just wish they didn't take so long to mend," Chris explains. He earns £500 per week, but it is certainly not easy money.

B There are only two hundred combat soldiers in the British Army who can parachute into the sea, dive for hours in freezing waters and then spy in enemy territory successfully. James Rennie is one of them. This isn't his real name because his own identity has to be kept secret. "It's a very exciting job, but it's also tough and dangerous. You have to be courageous," says James. It takes five long years of training before such a soldier can go on a special mission. According to James, the toughest part of the business is spying. "I've been on a lot of missions that involve this kind of work. If the enemy had caught us, they would have killed us." £45,000.

C Most patients are thankful for the care they get from their doctors, but when it comes to animals it's a different story. Every vet knows that animals are much more likely to turn round and bite rather than thank them. Steve Divers is an experienced vet and has been bitten by countless cats and dogs. With more dangerous animals, though, he takes special care. For example, with poisonous snakes, he keeps them in a cloth bag, and uses a metal instrument to keep the head down and the teeth away from his hands. "If I didn't know how to handle some animals, I would probably have permanent scars by now," Steve says. Although it takes many years of study to become a vet, it is a very rewarding and well-paid career. "All animals in need must be treated. I would never ignore a sick animal, even if it was dangerous enough to kill me," says Steve.

Teacher: As a part of our careers advice week we have two guests with us here today to tell us a bit about their work. Our first speaker is Miss Rachel Banner who's going to talk about her work as a news reporter.

Miss Banner: Thank you for inviting me here today. Mr Peacock. Well, first of all. I'd like to say that one of the best things about being a news reporter is that it's so exciting. I get to travel around the world and meet lots of people. My job is interesting too. The news stories I do are different every day. so it never gets boring Of course, there are disadvantages as there are with any job. It is often very stressful as we have to do everything in a very short time. It can be dangerous, too, because we often have to work in places where there are wars.

Teacher: Thank you Miss Banner. Next we have Dr Geoff Chalmers who is a surgeon at Branston City Hospital. Thank you for coming, Dr Chalmers.

Doctor: Thank you. Well, I must admit that I am very well paid, but there's a good reason for that: the job needs a lot of skill, and (or that you need to spend many years studying. It's a very rewarding job too as it’s great being able to save people's lives. Unfortunately, there are also a couple of things that I don't like much about my job. A How many of us used to dream of joining the circus when we were ш children? Well. Chris Sayers, a trapeze artist at Zippo's Circus, did just that. It took him ten years of training before he felt confident enough to perform six metres above the ground. Since then he has become one of the few people in the world who can do four somersaults one after the other. There are many risks involved in this job. Trapeze artists need to work with a partner they can depend on. When flying through the air at 60 mph, they have to be sure their partner will catch them. "Many times in the past, if I hadn't had a partner I could trust, I would have fallen and probably hurt myself seriously," says Chris. People who work in the circus love the risks and the thrill of their profession. Broken bones are part of the job."I just wish they didn't take so long to mend," Chris explains. He earns £500 per week, but it is certainly not easy money.

B There are only two hundred combat soldiers in the British Army who can parachute into the sea, dive for hours in freezing waters and then spy in enemy territory successfully. James Rennie is one of them. This isn't his real name because his own identity has to be kept secret. "It's a very exciting job, but it's also tough and dangerous. You have to be courageous," says James. It takes five long years of training before such a soldier can go on a special mission. According to James, the toughest part of the business is spying. "I've been on a lot of missions that involve this kind of work. If the enemy had caught us, they would have killed us." £45,000.

C Most patients are thankful for the care they get from their doctors, but when it comes to animals it's a different story. Every vet knows that animals are much more likely to turn round and bite rather than thank them. Steve Divers is an experienced vet and has been bitten by countless cats and dogs. With more dangerous animals, though, he takes special care. For example, with poisonous snakes, he keeps them in a cloth bag, and uses a metal instrument to keep the head down and the teeth away from his hands. "If I didn't know how to handle some animals, I would probably have permanent scars by now," Steve says. Although it takes many years of study to become a vet, it is a very rewarding and well-paid career. "All animals in need must be treated. I would never ignore a sick animal, even if it was dangerous enough to kill me," says Steve.

I get to travel around the world and meet lots of people. My job is interesting too.
