«Экскурсия в Лондон»

Цель мероприятия:

1. совершенствовать коммуникативную компетенцию учащихся, эмоциональную и эстетическую стороны в процессе игры;
2. развивать и углублять знания по страноведению;
3. повышать познавательный интерес к иностранному языку в процессе игры.

Оборудование: плакат British Airways, Airport Heathrow, макеты Букингемского дворца, монумента в Трафальгарской площади, Лондонского Тауэра, двухэтажного автобуса, вывески «In the Hotel Hall», «On the plane», «At the restaurant», столик для регистрации, кресла, облака, самолет, меню.

Ход игры:

Teacher: Today we are going to have an unusual party. It will be a trip to London.

Let’s dream a little. Some of our students have a chance to visit London as tourists. They go to London by plane. They are on board now. Let” have a look at our tourists. What do we see? The stewardess is talking to the passengers now.

Ситуация «On the plane»

Stewardess: Hello, ladies and gentlemen! Fasten your seatbelts, please! The pilot is preparing to take off. Now we are in the air, we will be serving a light snack and something to drink. Thank you.

Passenger 1: Excuse me. Could you give me a glass of water, please.

Stewardess: Here you are.

Passenger 1: Oh, it’s great. Thank you.

Passenger 2: And where is the lavatory?

Stewardess: It’s at the back of the plane. You’ll see assign «Lavatory». If the lavatory door says «VACANT» you can go in; if it says «OCCUPIED» you need to wait, because someone is in there.

Passenger 2: Thank you very much.

Ситуация «In the bus. London tour»

Tourist 1: At last we are in London. We should wait for our guide. Well, here is our guide.

Guide: How do you do? Welcome to our country. Pleased to meet you. Let me introduce myself. My name is Helen. I’m your guide. You may call me Helen. I hope we’ll be friends. And what shall I call you?

Guide: There is a bus waiting for us. Now get on the bus. I’d like to tell you about this bus. The first bus service in London was started in 1829. The first double-decker was built in 1851, but the upper deck didn’t have a roof until 1930. The passengers were given raincoats to put on if it started to rain.

Now we are coming to the centre of London. The heart of London is the City. It’s the oldest part of London. You can visit some interesting places in the City or near it. One of them is the Tower of London. Let’s get off the bus, please. Well, here is a guide. We have a chance to listen to her. Come on.

Guide 2: The Tower of London. It was built in the 11th century. William the Conqueror ordered the building of the great stone tower later called the White Tower. The Tower of London was a fortress, a palace, a prison and now it is a museum.

Tourists: Thank you.

Guide: Now get on the bus. Let’s go further. We are coming to Trafalgar Square. And here is another guide. Let’s listen to him.

Guide 3: Trafalgar Square is in the centre of London. It was named so in commemoration of the victorious naval battle of Trafalgar in 1805, in which Admiral Nelson was fatally wounded. Nelson’s Column is a beautiful sight.

Guide: Let’s go further. Now we are coming to Buckingham palace. And there is another guide waiting for us.

Guide 4: Buckingham palace. It is a beautiful palace. It is a home residence of the Queen Elizabeth II. She lives and works here. If we see a flag on the building it means that the Queen is in the palace. If there is no flag it means that the Queen is away. Also you can see a parade of Changing of the guards.

Tourists: Thank you very much.  

Guide: Now we go to the hotel. Well, it is coming.

Tourists: Morning! We’ve got a reservation for our tourist group from Russia.

Receptionist: Just a minute, please. Yes, you’ve got a reservation. It’s for 6 persons. It’s for a fortnight. Three double rooms, numbers 6,7 and 8.
