  • How are you today? How do you feel?

I wish you to feel great every day because our life is unique.

  • Do you like dreaming?

When I was at your age I dreamt a lot. I dreamt about my future job, my family, about how I would look like and many other things.

  • What do you usually dream about?

Dreaming is a wonderful chance to make your wishes and thoughts come true one day.

  • Now let’s dream. Imagine you’re 18-20 years old now.

Answer three main questions (What do you look like? What are you like? What lifestyle have you got? (слайд 2)

In your brochures circle the phrases that are true for you.

  • Let’s see what we’ve got.

  • Great dreams! You look perfect! There is a famous phrase: “The future belongs to those who believe in their dreams”. (слайд 3) Now let’s see if you are on the right way to your dreams. Let’s do the questionnaire. (слайд 4) Look at your brochures. There are nine questions in it. You have to choose the answers that are true for you.
  • Count how many a, b and c answers you’ve got.
  • Now let’s look at the results. (слайд 5)

  • Now we can see the following thing. (слайд 6) On one hand there are your dreams about an ideal future, on the other hand we’ve got the results about your real life.
  • What stands between them? What can help you to achieve everything you are dreaming about? What must you think about and take care of?

Health is the most important thing in our life without which it’s impossible to have an ideal healthy future.

  • Today we are going to talk about important aspects of health, discuss teenage problems with health and the ways of their solution that we’ll lead you to your ideal future.

  • Let’s try to guess what the first aspect of health is.

Look at the first three questions in your questionnaire,

  • Do you do exercises every day?
  • Do you eat only healthy food?
  • Do you sleep 8-9 hours a day?

           What are they about?

  • We have learnt a lot about physical health. Let’s revise.
  • Now we’ll listen to three teenagers, Brian, Zara and Dan.

Your task is the following. Complete the table in your brochures. On the left write down what kinds of problems they had. On the right – how they have coped with them, their ways of solution.

  • Now let’s check your answer.
  • What problems did Brian have?

  • How did he solve his problems?

  • What problems did Zara have?
  • How did she solve her problems?

  • What were Dan’s problems?

  • What are his ways of solution of these problems?

  • Great! Thanks for your answers. These are common problems that children face at your age.
  • But what problems do you have? Work in pairs and discuss. Make up dialogues. One student tells his/her problems, another one gives recommendations and advice. You can make notes in your brochures.
  • Are you ready? Let’s listen.

  • But as you understand physical health is not the only one aspect of health. Today we’ll get acquainted with a magic health triangle.
  • Now you’ll watch a video. (слайд 8) After you watch it be ready to name other aspects of health. Look at the health triangle in your brochures and complete it.
  • What are three aspects of health? (слайд 9)

  • Right you are. Let’s return back to our test that we did at the beginning of our lesson.

  • What questions are connected with social health?

(Do you have good relationship with your parents?

Do you have friends who you can trust?

Do you always know how to spend free time in the exciting way?)

  • That’s right! Social health – it’s how you communicate with others and how you behave with them (слайд 10)

  • What group of questions is connected with mental health?

(Are you always in a good mood?

How often do you feel such emotions of anger and hatred?

Do you often feel loneless?

  • Right choice! Mental health shows emotions and how you act. (слайд 10)

Social health

  • Today we’ll find out what social health problems can teenagers have. You’ve got two minutes to read the text and name the main social teenage problems. Do not forget to write them down in your brochures.

  • What are the main teenage problems? (cлайд 11)

  • That’s right. Now look at the text and find the reasons for these problems.

  • Finally, there is a list of different ways of solution for these problems in your brochures. (слайд 11).Match them with the problems, please. If you have your own ideas add them to this list.
  • Let’s check your answers. Have you got your advice?

Mental health

  • And finally – mental health.  May be you have never thought about it but still it’s a very important aspect of health.  Positive feelings and emotions, your inner peace help you to be a happy healthy person.
  • (слайд 12) You’ll watch a video. It’s called “Five things I wish I had known about mental health when I was a teenager”. Young lady will give you 5 advice about keeping mental health and don’t have mental illnesses. Be ready to name them after you watch. Write them down in your brochures.
  • Have you enjoyed the video? Let’s discuss it.
  • What is the first advice?

That means that it’s very important to take care of your mental health. It’s the key.

  • What is the second advice?

It’s ok to have worries but it’s important to have someone you can trust.

  • What’s the third advice?

You shouldn’t be ashamed of your feelings and emotions. There are a lot of people who overcome them every day

  • What’s the fourth advice?

You should be always proud of and respect yourself

  • What’s the fifth advice?

Don’t think it is weak to ask for help. It’s strong, responsible and brave.

  • Mental health is a very serious and deep topic for understanding. That’s why we’ll continue talking about it later. Your home task will be to write a letter to a pen friend. You’ve got forms on your desks. Your friend has got some problems with his mental health. You have to give him advice how to cope with them.

  • We have done and learnt a lot today. Let’s make a complete table how to keep your health triangle balanced.
  • There are three aspects of health triangle: physical, mental and social. There are envelopes with different advice. You have to divide them into three groups according to our aspects. Work in pairs.
  •  What is good to do to be physically active?
  • What is good to do to be emotionally healthy?
  • What is good to do to be socially healthy?

  • What was the most interesting thing for you at the lesson?
  • What was difficult for you?
  • Have you learnt anything new? What is it?
  • What advice will you follow in your everyday life?
