‘Immortal Regiment’ marches on: World celebrates Victory Day

On 9th May our school has also joined Victory Day parades to mark 71 years since victory over Nazi Germany in WWII. We gathered to march with the so-called “Immortal Regiment” to honor the veterans of the war. The column was formed in front of the Pavlovsk Administration. A brass band led the regiment and squad of drummers brought up the rear. People were carrying portraits of their relatives. I was carrying the portraits of my great-grandparents. They went through the war survived to see the Victory. For their heroism they were awarded medals, and my great-grandfather – three classes of the Order of Glory. The March ended with a rally and laying flowers on the grave "Grieving Mother".                                Yaroslav Vasiliev 5B IMG_1315

My father and I were carrying the portraits of my grandaunt - combat medic Astra Neljubina who died in 1944 at the age of 23 and her younger brother Roland Neljubin -platoon commander of 135 rifle division who also died in 1942 at the age of 19.

Victory Day is the greatest event!
On V-day we remember names of those who gave their lives for freedom and independence of the native landC:\Users\User\Pictures\2016 05 09\DSC_2081.JPGC:\Users\User\Pictures\20160517\20160509_0177.jpg

Our people paid enormous heavy price for victory over ruthless subtle enemy.

I, as a member of Organization of Russian Young Pathfinders was a volunteer at the Pushkin demonstration. After the demonstration, I went to Pavlovsk and wanted by our established over the past years tradition to eat soldier's porridge cooked in a field kitchen, but to our great regret, it was over. However, I and my friends did not lose and we prepared the soldier’s porridge on a fire in the garden (buckwheat with stewed meat. Yammi!!).

Culture spot!

Journey into the world of art

On 13 May  the 5 "B" Grade  visited the Hermitage and Exhibition of One Masterpiece from the Acropolis Museum – " archaic statue of a Kore”.

An Archaic statue of a Kore has never been exhibited before in the Hermitage and this is the first time that this particular sculpture has left the Acropolis Museum.

The statue was found on the Acropolis in 1886. Her height is 1.15 meters.

Our History teacher Anastasia A. Pomelnikova was our guide and told us a lot about Ancient Greece art and sculptures. We have also visited Egyptian hall and saw mummy. The excursion was exciting and informative.
