My family is large. I have got 5 persons in my family. There is my mother, my father, my sister, my brother and I.

My father’s name is … He is … (age) My father is …(profession) He is very experienced. He is a broad-shouldered, tall man with blond short hair and grey eyes.

My sister’s name is …. She is 14. She is a pupil and studies at my school.

My brother’s name is … He is 24. He is married and has a family of his own. He works as a manager for a small business company.

6. What family traditions are characterized to your own family?

Just a pity I don’t see my parents as much as I would like as they work long hours. But on Sundays we spend a lot of time together: we can go to the forest walking or skiing: go out to the cinema or to the café: walk along the streets and talk about everything. In summer we usually go to the country or to the dacha: spend a lot of time outdoors swimming in the river, lying in the sun and playing different games. Sometimes we go abroad or travel to Russia visiting different cities and towns, seeing sights, taking photos, meeting other people and traditions.

7. What does “family” mean to you?

I think that the family must be the center of my life. Getting married and having a family is a top priority for me. I want to have a large family and my house will be always full of relatives visiting us. In my family everybody cares and helps each other and tries to spend a lot of time together.

My name is … I’m …(age). I’m a tall slender young girl/boy. I have got dark/blond long/short hair, large dark eyes, a straight but small nose and thin lips. I’m a very beautiful young girl. I’m very honest, understanding and kind. My friends trust me a lot and they are sure that they can rely on me in any situations. I never let my friends down. I’m very responsible/ I finish whatever I start. I’ve got only one shortcoming – I’m a bit stubborn. But I try to find compromises in these difficult situations.

10. What ways do you use to handle your stress?

11. How do you usually relax if you have stress?

For start I begin to do something relaxing, such as going for a walk or for a coffee with my friends. I can try to write a poem about my feelings and emotions or tell my diary about all my negative emotions. I can go to bed and only sleep or read my lovely nook or watch my likely films and cry in some sad and emotional moments. In general I don’t copy with my stress!

13. Have you ever used “ChildLine”?

ChildLine is a free, 24-hour confidential helpline that children and young people can call when they feel they have nowhere else to turn. Training counselors comfort, adviсe and protect children with a wide range of problems such as bullying, serious family problems and worries about friends. This ChildLine saves children’s lives, helps homeless young people living on the streets to find shelter and simply gives hope to those who thinks no one cared.

14. What rights and responsibilities do you know?

Everybody of us has rights and responsibilities. We have rights to be educated, to be safe, to live and work in a clean, unpolluted environment and to be treated with respect. We have also some responsibilities: to respect others regardless of sex, age, ethnic origin and nationality, not to bully or harm others, to obey the law and look after the environment.

16. What practical skills are you taught  during the part-time job?

Teenagers who have part-time job feel a sense of responsibility because a part-time job can teach them practical skills for their future career such as learning to be on time, handing money and dealing with customers. Teenagers earn their own money they are usually more careful when deciding how to spend it. They learn how to handle money responsibly.

20. What does the doctor usually recommend to you if you are ill?

If I have a headache, heartache, toothache, backache, earache or bad pain in the stomach if you complain of a sore throat or a bad cough, if you run a high temperature and have cold in the head or if you suffer from high or low blood pressure I think I should consult a doctor. The doctor will examine my throat, feel my pulse, test my blood pressure, take my temperature, sound my heart and lungs, test your eyes, check your teeth or have your check X-rayed. After that he will prescribe me some treatment, pills, tablets and other medicine. He will recommend me to stay in bed for some time and not to go to school.

22. What do you think about homeless people?

I think homelessness is a vicious circle that is very difficult to break out of. It`s very hard to get work without a fixed address because no one takes you seriously, and then you lose your confidence and your self-esteem. Of course the government give homeless people money but it`s barely enough to eat. These people can sleep in a cheap B&B, in a hostel for homeless people or a squat  without running water or electricity. At least it`s a roof over your head which can mean the difference between life or death when there are sub-zero temperatures outside.

25. What kind of houses can you meet in your city?

There are different kinds of houses: detached and semi-detached houses, terraced houses, flats and council houses and bungalows. I like to live in detached house because it is not joined to another houses and built in various styles. My future house will be made of red or brown bricks or of wood and is like work of art with steep state roofs, stained glass panels in doors and windows, iron railings, tall chimney pots and large bay windows. My future house will be situated on the outskirts of our city or in the suburbs.

27. Where is English used nowadays?

As you know the modern world is becoming smaller all the time. Every day distance between different countries seem less, Most of billon people all over the world speak English today. That`s about 20% of the world`s population. 400 million people speak English as their first language. For the other 600 million people speak English as a second language or a foreign language. English is the first language in the United Kingdom, in the USA, in Australia and New Zealand. It is one of the official languages in Canada, the Irish Republic and the Republic of South Africa. English is used by the government, businessmen and universities. English is the language of politics and diplomacy, science and technology, business and trade, sport and pop music. All information in the world`s computers, all world`s letters and faxes, all international telephone calls, all scientific journals are in English. To know English today is absolutely necessary for every educated person, for every good specialist.

30. What advantages and disadvantages has every mean of travel?

Millions of people all over the world spend their holidays travelling because they want to see other countries and continents, modern cities and the ruins of ancient towns. They travel to enjoy picturesque places or just to change of scene. It`s always interesting to discover new things, different ways of life, to meet different people, to try different food, to listen to different musical rhythms. You can travel by train, by plane, by ship, by car. All means of travel have their advantages and disadvantages and you choose one according to your plans and destinations. If you are fond of travelling you can see and learn a lot of things that you can never see and learn at home, only you may read about them in books and newspapers and see pictures of them on TV and on Internet.
