Конспект внеклассного занятия по английскому языку

в 10 классе

Ход занятия.

Обучающиеся делятся на три группы – три команды по 7 человек.

1. Определение темы занятия.  Демонстрируется фрагмент 1 документального фильма 1912 года.

T: On a beautiful afternoon a big ship set out on its first voyage from England to America. It was a new ship called the “Titanic”.

For two days the “Titanic” went on her way over the sea. Then she entered an ice-field and was hit by an iceberg…

2. Чтение. Беседа “The History of the Ship”.

Обучающиеся читают информацию об истории корабля. Отвечают на вопросы учителя по прочитанному материалу.

T: When did the Titanic start her first and last voyage?

     Where and when the Titanic was build?

     How much did it cost to construct the Titanic?

     Why did the ship sink?

     When did the Titanic collide with an iceberg?

     How many people drowned in the tragedy?

Грамматика.

Учитель объясняет, что, не смотря на то, что все неодушевлённые существительные в английском языке – среднего рода, в тексте встретилось исключение – Титаник. Корабль является существительным женского рода – she. Это исключение касается не только кораблей, судов и лодок, но и других движущихся машин.

Команды получают бумажное сердце за правильный ответ.

Учитель демонстрирует слайды 2-6, учащиеся читают дополнительную информацию об истории корабля:

• As high as an eleven story building and nearly four city blocks long, the Titanic was one of the largest and most magnificent ships in the world (photographed April 10, 1912).
• The most expensive first-class suite on the Titanic cost $4,350, the equivalent of about $75,000 today.
• Passengers stroll passed chairs on the deck of the Titanic (1912).
• The promenade deck of the Titanic, located underneath the top deck (1912).

3. Релаксационная пауза.

Демонстрируется фрагмент 2 документального фильма 1912 года (слайд 7).  Учитель читает отрывок из стихотворения  “The Convergence of the Twain” by Thomas Hardy. 

Учитель демонстрирует слайды 8-10, учащиеся читают дополнительную информацию об истории корабля.

• In 1985, the wreck of the Titanic was found 13,000 feet under water. Pictured is the bow of the sunken ship and ship propeller.
• A section of the hull, covered with rust.
• The remains of a bronze deck bench lies among the wreckage of the Titanic.

4. Чтение. Беседа “Titanic –the film”

Демонстрируется слайд 11 с афишей фильма «Титаник».

• James Cameron is a Canadian filmmaker, director, producer, screenwriter, inventor, engineer and deep-sea explorer who directed “Titanic”.
• Leonardo DiCaprio is an American actor who starred in “Titanic”.
• Kate Winslet is an English actress and singer who played Rose, a Society Lady.
• Gloria Stuart was an American film and stage actress, visual artist who lived in 1912.

Демонстрируются слайды 11-16.

• Gloria Stuart was the only person who worked on the film who was actually living in 1912 when the Titanic sunk. With her nomination for Best Supporting Actress at age 87, Gloria Stuart became the oldest person to ever be nominated for an Oscar.

5. Аудирование. Работа с песней.

Демонстрируется видеоклип песни Celine Dion “My Heart Will Go On”. Тексты песни c пропущенными словами на столе у команд, обучающиеся слушают песню и заполняют пропуски.

6. Викторина “Do You Believe?” (True/False)

Цель: знакомство с фактами создания фильма.              

• James Cameron did not want to include any song in the film. (T)

The composer, James Horner, secretly arranged with lyricist Will Jennings and singer Céline Dion to write “My Heart Will Go On” and record a demo tape. Cameron responded favorably to the demo and decided to include the song over the closing credits.

• The film was originally called “Planet Ice”. (T)
• The movie cost $20 million to make. (F)
• James Cameron wanted Matthew McConaughey to play Jack. (F)
• Leonardo DiCaprio drew all the pictures in Jack’s sketchbook. (F)
• After James Cameron finished the script, he discovered that there was a real “J. Dawson” who died aboard the Titanic. (T)
• Gwyneth Paltrow was up for the role of Rose. Nicole Kidman, Madonna, Jodie Foster, Cameron Diaz and Sharon Stone were all considered for Rose as well. (T)
• Kate Winslet got pneumonia during her work on the film. (T)
• Robert De Niro was offered the role of Captain Smith but turned it down due to a gastrointestinal infection at the time. (T)
• The elderly couple, has seen hugging on the bed while water floods their room, are fictional. (F)

They are the owners of Macy’s department store in New York; Ida and Isidor Strauss, both of whom died on the Titanic. Ida was offered a seat on a lifeboat but refused so that she could stay with her husband saying, “As we have lived together, so we shall die together.” There was a scene filmed that depicted this moment but was cut from the final version.

• After filming, the remains of the ship are at the Maritime Museum of the Atlantic now. (F)
• In the scene where the water comes crashing into the Grand Staircase room, the film makers only had one shot at it. (T)

The water was 3 (0.9 meter) feet deep.

7. Диалогическая речь.

Обучающиеся слушают фрагмент из фильма «Последний диалог». Выполняют задания на восстановление и перевод фраз диалога.

После выполнения задания обучающимся предлагается воспроизвести диалог по ролям.

Демонстрируется фрагмент из фильма «Последний диалог».

8. Рефлексия. Подведение итогов.

Учитель объявляет команду-победителя. Вручает призы всем учащимся. Просмотр фрагмента «В ресторане».

The History of the Ship

When the Titanic first sailed from England in early April 1912, people thought that she was the finest ship afloat. Nothing could go wrong because she was the largest ship on the seas, equipped with the very latest devices.

The ship was built in Belfast, Northern Ireland. This ‘unsinkable’ superstructure took over 2 years to build at Harland & Wolf – Belfast’s shipyard – from March 1909 until her launch in May 1911. The cost to construct the Titanic in 1910-1912 was $7.5 million which was about $120 to $150 million in 1997 dollars.

However, on the night of April 14th the Titanic hit an iceberg and sank in about 3 hours. 1503 people, including many of the rich and famous, drowned in the tragedy. The disaster was the largest of its time.

Titanic – the film

The film

The film has made more money than any other previous film. At the Oscars “Titanic” won eleven Academy Awards, including three for its creator James Cameron. The only other film to win eleven awards was “Ben Hur”.

The plot

The historical background and the details connected with the ship are very accurate but the plot is fictional. Leonardo DiCaprio plays the poor Jack Dawson who is travelling to America to start a new life there. During the voyage he meets Kate Winslet who plays Rose, a Society Lady. They fall in love. Some advice for those of you who have not seen this film: take a hanky!
