Тема урока: «Pastimes»

Оборудование: компьютер, проектор, экран, магниты, раздаточный материал, игральные кубики

Цель: активизация ранее изученной тематической лексики; дальнейшее развитие навыков чтения.

Ход урока

I. Warming-up.

— Good afternoon, boys and girls! (Good afternoon, teacher!)

— How are you?

— Let’s see if everyone is here.

II. Actualization

-Now, students, take this cards and read the words: 1)-hockey, football, basketball, water polo, scrabble, monopoly, billiards  2) - chess, table tennis, draught, backgammon, badminton, darts.

-Translate these words. Let’s spell the words: backgammon, hockey, chess, draught. (Dividing into groups)

There will seat the team whose games are for two players. There will be team who has team games.

Mime. 2 students from 1 team come here. Take a card and show this game. And others should guess the game.

III. Working on the topic of the lesson

1. Working on the textbook

Ex. 1 p. 60.

(Answering the questions.)

— Look at the book cover. Who’s this man? (Robinson Crusoe.)

— Where is the man in the picture? (He's on an island.)

— What do you think he does there?

(Discussing and giving points, doing exercises)

It’s time to play the game. Ex. 2 p. 60.

— Let’s read how to play Snakes and Ladders.

(reading the text of the instruction accompanied by an audio recording. The teacher asks questions.)

— Is Snakes and Ladders a modem game?

— How many people can play this game?

— What do you need to play the game?

— What are the rules?

2. Playing game “Snakes and Ladders”

— Do you feel like a game now? Play in groups of four.

(Students start at the START cell. They take turns rolling the dice, and the student who has the most points goes first. Then the players take turns throwing a die and move forward by the number of cells corresponding to the one that fell on the die. Once on the “question " cell, the student must correctly complete the sentence before moving anywhere (for example, up the stairs). Going to the bottom of the ladder, the player can climb up it to the specified cell, if he can correctly read the sentence, the beginning and the end of which are given in the cells at the ends of the ladder. Once on the head of the snake, the student goes down to its tail, if he can not complete the sentence correctly. The player who gets to the FINISH cell first wins the game.

The teacher controls the process of playing in groups and helps as needed. You should limit the time of the game.)

IV. Homework  instruction

 At home you prepared a story about Spiderman’s daily activities. Now your home task is to make up your game Snakes and Ladders.

— You will do Exercise 2 at home.

— If there is anything you don’t understand, ask now.

V. Summing -up
