                 The Literary Quiz “Oh, Those Captivating Books!”

Литературная викторина по английскому языку для учащихся 7 классов

                              (talking about mysteries and adventures…)

Цель: Привлечь внимание учащихся к чтению литературы на английском языке, изучению произведений классиков детективного и приключенческого жанра, пополнению и расширению словарного запаса, необходимого в изучении иностранного языка.

Оснащение: портреты писателей, эпиграф на плакате “Owing our respect and admiration to the Greatest Names in the world of Fiction…”, выставка книг популярных авторов детективного и приключенческого жанров , таблица на доске, карточки с заданиями, презентация.

Ведущий: Good morning, Ladies and gentlemen! Welcome to our Literary Quiz show! Throughout the year we have been studying English literature and now it is high time to find out which teаm knows the subject better. You will have several interesting tasks and each team will get a certain number of points for every task.

The winner will be awarded the Certificate of the Best Connoisseurs of English literature and small souvenirs and the most active contestants will get good marks. First we’ll chose names and captains for each team. (Ученики придумывают название команд и выбирают капитанов.)

Ведущий: Аre you ready to start the competition? Ok (Он раздает участникам карточки с заданием.) The first task is called “Complete the titles of the books”. Here you need to compose the titles of well –known books, written by English writers of the fragments that are given in each card. Try to do it correctly and as quickly as possible. Let us know when you are ready. Do you understand the task? (команды выполняют задание на время.)

1.Ведущий: And now let’s see how you succeeded. First team? Please call out your variant of the first title. Ученики по очереди называют получившиеся названия книг (при равном количестве правильных ответов очко получает та команда, которая справилась с заданием быстрее.)

2.Ведущий: Оh, you seem to be extremely knowledgeable of English literature. But there is another task to be completed. Please, find the author for each book given in the left column. You only have five minutes for this activity. (Ученики выполняют задание. Результаты выводятся по схеме предыдущего испытания).

3.Ведущий: So, dear contestants? You’ve managed to complete two tasks and (name’s)team is leading now. However, we are only in the middle of the contest and everything can change. Well, the next task will be the contest “True or False”. I will give you statements about English literature and you will need to decide whether they are true or false and try to prove your point of view. Do you understand the task? (Ведущий читает предложения по очереди каждой команде. Команды, посоветовавшись, решают верно или не верно и обосновывают свои ответы. Ведущий записывает в таблице очки и объявляет победителя в данном задании.)

4.Ведущий: Oh, guys, the atmosphere is becoming heated in our competition and we are very close to the end. But there is another task to be completed. Each captain will try to give a definition of a particular literary genre without naming it. Your task is to guess what genre your captain is speaking about. So, gentlemen, come here and get the cards. (Капитаны команд подходят к ведущему и получают карточки, на которых написано названия литературных жанров. Затем они по очереди описывают жанр своей команде, которая пытается его угадать. Выигрывает команда, угадавшая наибольшее количество жанров.

5.Ведущий: And now the winner of the contest is…And now, contestants, here comes the next task” Our dear Shakespeare”. As you know, He is one of the most distinguished English writers and it’s impossible not to know about his life and writings. So, try to name as many facts as possible, they can be his books, some interesting facts from his biography. Did you understand the task? (Ученики стараются назвать как можно больше интересных фактов из жизни и творчества Вильяма Шекспира).

Ведущий: Well, the competition is over and we’re pleased to announce that the (name) team is the winner! Our congratulations! And the most pleasant part of our competition is awarding the winner. Captains, will you come to us. This Certificate is awarded to the winner of our Literary Quiz…… (название команды) Our Best congratulations! And this Certificate is for the team that won the second prize (название команды). Here you are. And here are some souvenirs for you. And thank you for taking part in the Quiz and for displaying excellent knowledge of English Literature. We are proud of you and hope that you will continue to read and enjoy the English literature. See you and good luck!

11.Miss Maple is a young lady in a pretty hat, who loves knitting and gossips, and uses a power of observation in her investigations.

12 A.C. Doyle was a very sporty man, when young, he played football and popularized mountain skis in Great Britain.

13 During World War 1 Agatha Christie worked as a nurse and a pharmacist, later she used her knowledge of poisons in her mysteries.

Задание 5 “Our dear Shakespeare!” (варианты ответов- интересные факты из жизни Уильяма Шекспира):
