Открытый урок в 8 классе по теме «СМИ»

Цель: Закрепить полученные умения и навыки по теме «СМИ».

Задачи:  1. Активизировать навыки чтения, монологической и диалогической речи.

                2. Развитие языковой догадки (в виде заголовков и видов новостей).

 

Good morning, my dear friends. Today we have guests at our lesson.  Let’s greet them.  I hope our guests will be pleased with your answers because we like English and try to study as well as we can.

 

How are you? I see you are well  and  we can start our lesson.

 

Today we are going to review some information about the role of mass media in our life. What can I tell you about it? You should answer the questions: What mass media do you use and why? What is important for you? What is it associated with?

 

But at first let’s repeat a poem. Say it altogether.

I like coffee, I like tea

I like radio and TV.

 

Now you will agree or disagree with the statements. If you agree, repeat it, if you disagree, share your ideas.

1.       Modern life is easy and fun.

2.       It is hard to imagine our life without Internet.

3.       Mass media plays an important role in the life of people.

4.       Modern technology is useful and convenient.

 

What types  of  mass  media do you know (say it in a chain, go to the blackboard, fill in the blanks).

 

The next  task  is to tell us about your media. It would be interesting to us to know what kind of the media you prefer and why. Use the plan, then report to the class. Start working, please.

I see you’re tired. It’s high time to have a rest.  Sing a song.

 

You have already mentioned different types of mass media. People use different mass media according to  their  interests .  Let’s see what advantages or disadvantages they have .  First you should discuss it in pairs.  I give 5 minutes to think.

 

In UK  there are two kinds of newspapers:

Quality  newspapers (known as «heavies») contain  a  lot  of  serious  articles, e.g. about  politics, business, science, cultural news.

Popular  newspapers (known  as «tabloids»)  carry  a  lot  of  big  photographs, contain  short, simple  reports  on  the  main  news, stories  about  famous  people.

 

By the way, do you like reading? What newspapers do you know?

I have got some newspapers . Recent events are always reported in the newspapers. Each day is filled with news.

Predict what the article is about. Say your  predictions. Discuss the articles from the newspaper. What does the author say?

 

Now, listen to the real article from the newspaper, do some exercises. Try to understand the article from the first listening.

Parents Arrested When Students Skip School

     The law says that all children must go to school. It is a parent’s responsibility to send their children to school. If a child does not go to school, the parent could get into some big trouble.
   One county said that they have 90 parents that have failed to send their children to school on a regular basis. These children have had at least 30 unexcused absences. This is against the law. The police will visit these families.
   Many parents will be arrested. They will face charges of contributing to the delinquency of a minor. They could be sent to jail for up to a year and be fined $2,500.
   The parents that will be arrested have been talked to many times before. They have been told that they need to make sure their kids go to school. Now they will see that the school and the police are very serious.

Now it’s time the captains to show themselves. Our captains have to tell us about themselves in English using a plan

The next contest is you should name some things that you can describe the topics: School, London. Do it in turn. I’ll give you a sheet of paper to write down.

Make up as many words as you can.

The next slide is London sights. Do you know …..? Name the number of the picture.

Now is conversation tour. Who is the best speaker? You must describe the picture. Use the Present Continuous.   What you see in the picture.

The last task is  Ask your friend why he/she  wants to visit London.

I’d like you to ask some questions. Ask any question – answer the question.
