The theme of the lesson is: «What can we do to save the Earth»?

Aims:

to develop students` habits in listening, reading, speaking;

to enlarge the students` outlook, to enrich their word stocks; to improve students` skills in expressing their own ideas, opinions;

to bring up and develop love of nature and readiness to protect the environment.

Materials:

A computer, technological cards, a clip, computer-slides.

                                       Ход урока

  1. Introduction. 1 min.

Good morning, dear students. Glad to see you! Now let’s have some phonetic drill. Look at the screen and read the word combinations. One by one. (3 min.)

to protect  nature (environment)

to recycle   waste (paper, metal, glass, plastic)

to reduce  air and water pollution

to reuse glass, water

to pollute  air, land, water

to cut trees down

to drop litter (to throw away rubbish)

to create national parks

to build recycling centres

to build  filtering structures

to plant trees

to feed animals and birds

to kill animals and birds

to leave fires in forests

to take litter home after picnics

  1. Fomulation of the problem.

What problem are we going to discuss today?

What must we find out? Look at our theme.

P1, P2….

Today we are going to discuss the problem of environmental protection. You know that people all over the world are worried about our environment. And we shall find out what we can do to save the Earth.

  1.  Speaking.

I’d like you to watch and listen to the clip.  2 min. It is called «The amazing art of Salvatore Dali’s pictures”. Be ready to discuss the clip and made the cluster. 5 min.

Fill in the cluster using my gurstions

What is the main idea of Salvatore Dali’s pictures?

Is our world unique (beautiful, amazing, fragile)?

Has the Earth wonderful  seas, oceans, lakes, rivers?

Is it in danger now?

Has it been feeding people for thousands of years?

Is the Earth our home?

Is it  very fragile?

What can you say about our Earth? Use the cluster and say 3 sentences, which are logically connected.

Make a cluster about people, using the questions.

Are we the masters of the world?

Are we only a part of the world?

Must we live in harmony with nature?

Who is in charge of our Planet?

Have people polluted air, water, land?

Do people kill animals, birds, fish?

What can you say about people? Use the cluster and say 3 sentences, which are logically connected.

V      Reading and speaking.   10 min

So, we have come to the conclusion. The Earth is our home. We must take care of it if we want to live. Our world is in danger now, it is very fragile. Sometimes, people are not kind to our nature. People kill animals, birds, fish.  Air, water, land are polluted by people. People leave fires in forests. Forests are cut by people.

What must (should, can) people do to solve ecological problems?

Imagine,  you аre members of the Green Peace organization.  Address to people and tell them what they must do or what they mustn’t do to protect our environment . Look at the slides and be ready to speak.
