Сценарий праздника «The English language Spring Festival»

1. Организационный момент - Ведущие: (учащиеся школы № 1) представление команд

2. Вступительное слово о роли и значении изучения ИЯ в школе

Учитель: Good morning dear pupils and teachers! I’m …, a teacher of English at Secondary school 2. We, English teachers of our district are glad to greet you on this very important day at Secondary school 1.  Today we are celebrating the English language Day, which has an official name “The language English Spring Festival”.

     I should say that English is one of the most popular, wide-spread languages in the world. Many centuries ago, The British Isles were captured by Anglo-Saxons tribes. They called this country “Anglia”, that is “the land of Angels”, it means that we speak a very nice language, the language of angels. It sounds beautiful and fantastic!

      Nowadays it is very important to study foreign languages. People in Europe speak their native languages: German, French, Italian, Spanish and so on, but most of them know English very well.

Many professions require a working knowledge of English, they are, for example: pilots of international airlines, air traffic controllers, diplomats, translators, tourist guides and others.

Why should you study English? It is because:

1. It helps you to be a better learner of your own language and culture.
2. It is a good exercise for the intellect.
3. It can expend your knowledge in different fields: in science, politics, medicine, social and human relations, history, culture, arts and sports.
4. You’ll be able to travel all over the world and communicate with people everywhere.
5. You’ll always get the news first if you watch the international television networks: CNN, the BBC that broadcast news fast and more professionally.
6. You’ll get access to the Internet and find information on any subject.
7. You’ll learn all about your favourite music groups, pop singers and Hollywood celebrities in magazines and newspapers written in the original.
8. You’ll find a good job and earn enough money to travel.
9. Almost all business in Russia today is international. English prepares you for a successful career.

 You can be politicians, scientists, doctors, lawyers everywhere in the world, or girls just can be a secretary who has to write letters in English and speak English on the phone.

What makes a good language learner?

You should read English books a lot, listen to English songs, learn English poems and texts by heart, do English crossword puzzles, watch English films in the original and lots of things that help you to understand and speak this wonderful language. I wish you good luck in learning English! And now, have a good time at our festival!  

3. Песня «Mama Mia» в исполнении учащихся школы № 1

Ведущий (ученик 1): It is high time to start our first contest “ Introducing teams” but before this each team should choose the number of its turn to take part in this or that contest. (проводится жеребьевка).

4. Презентация команд

Ведущий (ученик 2): Each team should introduce itself. It was your home work. You should have your team’s name, logo, motto. And now- team ! Take a floor, please!

(Команду нашей школы представляла команда девушек)

Анжела:  Our team is USG, (все хором) United Smart Girls!

Our motto: Be positive and creative like a smart girl,

And your dream sails will never furl!

(все хором поют):

Smart girls, we are so magical

Great brains, so nice and beautiful

Hard to resist,

So touchable

Too good to deny it,

Ain’t no big deal.

It’s US Girls!

5. Фонетический конкурс (Ученики должны прочитать стихотворения английских или американских поэтов, рассказав несколько предложений об авторах).
6. Конкурс на правописание английских слов «Spelling Bees»

Ведущий 1.: Dear pupils! Listen to your task carefully, please. Each team is given 6 words. You should decide who will spell words out. For example, let’s spell the word “beauty”. Don’t write a word down, do this task orally and quickly. Your maximum point’s 6. (Учащимся заранее раздают листки со списком слов для спеллинга – 120 слов).

7. Фонетический конкурс «Song contest»

Ведущий 2.: Let’s continue. And now we have мusic and songs contest. Your home assignment was to prepare an English song which can be sung by one, two members of the team or, maybe the whole team. Are you ready? Let’s enjoy English songs and music!

(Ученица исполняет песню из репертуара дуэта «Roxette».  Были спеты еще 4 песни в исполнении участников других команд).

8. Лексико-грамматический конкурс

Lexical and grammar contest
Put the verb in the correct form:

2. Put correct modal verbs:

• 1. You … see this film. It is interesting.
• 2. … I go to the disco, Mum?
• 3. We missed the bus and we … go on foot.
• 4. … you speak English?
• 5. You … help old people.
• 6. We … meet at the station.
• 7. I … to be a doctor in the future.

9. Страноведческий конкурс

Ведущий 2: Dear pupils! I think you know a lot of information about history, culture, customs and traditions of Great Britain. And you can test yourselves if you know this well. Each team is given 10 questions. If you answer them all, you’ll be able to get maximum 10 points. Are you ready?

10. Презентация проектов

Ведущий 1: And now, I think, there will be one of the most interesting moments of our festival – Projects contest. Each team presents its project. Let’s greet the team …! You are welcome!

(Учащиеся готовили проекты с мультимедийной презентацией по разным темам, например, «Школа моей мечты», «Моя будущая профессия», «Экологические проблемы моего района», «Развитие туризма в районе»).

11. Песня «Somebody likes» в исполнении группы «Smile»  6 кл КСОШ № 2
12. Конкурс ролевых ситуаций «Drama contest»

Ведущий 2: And now, we are finishing our festival with the last contest “ Drama contest”. You had to act out the conversation on the topic you liked best. Are you ready? (Участники команд разыгрывают ситуации).For this contest you can get maximum 5 points.
