Тема: Музыка и музыканты.

           Music and Musicians

Цели: 1) Образовательная: способствовать совершенствованию навыков  

               аудирования, лексических и грамматических навыков говорения;

            2) Развивающая: создание условий для развития способности к

                зрительной и слуховой дифференциации, к выявлению языковых  

                закономерностей; осуществлению репродуктивных речевых

                действий;

             3) Воспитательная: воспитывать уважительное отношение к чужим

                 вкусам и предпочтениям в выборе музыки.

Задачи:

1.  Развитие навыков аудирования.

2.  Подготовка монологического высказывания на основе

     прочитанного текста.

Ход   урока

I. Организационный момент. Сообщение темы и целей урока.

- Good morning, dear friends!

-  Good morning, teacher!

-  I am glad to see you.

-  We are glad to see you, too.

-  How are you today?

-  We are fine, thank you.

-  Today we continue our talk about music, we are going  to some texts, read and

       speak a lot.

II. Фонетическая разминка.

 - As usual, we start with the tongue twister. Read it and translate. Read it slowly.  

Then read the tongue twister quicker. Now read as quickly as you can. At last you are ready to have a talk. 

III. Pечевая разминка.

- Look at the blackboard and answer the questions.

6. Music makes me think of nature, love, other feelings, of my

parents, etc.

7. A  hymn is a religious song, and an anthem is the national song of a  country.

8. The author of the Russian national anthem is Sergei Mikhalkov.

9. When I listen to it I picture ...

10. HMV is a magazine advertising new records, CDs and cassettes).

Работу с вопросами можно осуществлять в разных режимах: ученик – ученик, ученик — ученики. Один из учащихся подводит итоги работы по ответам одноклассников.

IV. Введение страноведческих знаний.

        - As we know much about music and musical styles, it is time to speak about musicians. That is why we need to select an expert group, which consists of three — five students. The members of the expert group will find the information in the LCG when it is necessary.

        Let's start with three famous composers: Henry Purcell, Benja min Britten and Ludwig van Beethoven. Our expert group is look ing for the information in the LCG. Meanwhile we are studying the questions. Can you predict the answers? Use the expressions from the blackboard.

-  Now ask the given questions to our experts.

- Listen to the texts about the famous composers and find the answers to the questions. You will need the following words to understand the texts.

        hearing  — слушать.

- How do you understand the meaning of the word combination "a signature tune"?

        Учащиеся слушают тексты с закрытыми учебниками. Если возникают трудности при ответах на вопросы, можно будет работать с открытыми учебниками.

        Или Слабые ученики могут слушать с открытыми книгами в то время, как сильные ученики слушают без опоры.

        -  Report to the class if you know any of their compositions and if you have ever listened to them with the help of exercise 1.5 on page 43.

        - Now we'll have a talk about one of our famous Russian composers: Sergei Rachmaninoff. Have you ever listened to his works? What is your impression? Let's learn the information about him. Again our experts must read it in the LCG and the rest of the class should read it in exercise 2.1), page 44. After that you will ask each other questions to know more. You have two minutes.

        -  It's time to start asking questions. Be very attentive because you will report to the class as much information as it is possible.

        Experts: Where did he emigrate? What are his most famous compositions?

        Others: What did he do in his emigration? What is his music like? How can you characterize his music?

        -  What do you know now about Sergei Rachmaninoff?

VI. Развитие навыков устной речи

        -  I would like to pay attention to the difference between the words "concert" and "concerto". Read about it on page 44. Don't mix them up. Have you listened to any concerto by some of the Russian famous composers? What was your im pression?

        -  It is very interesting to know your opinion about music. I ask you to work in pairs and answer the questions of exercises 3, 4 and 5 pages 44—45. Then say if you have similar answers or not.

        - What other names in the world of classical music have you heard?

        See them in exercise 6.1), page 45. All the class will work as ex perts. Read the task carefully. Is everything clear? So you have three minutes.

        -  Your time is up. What have you learnt about all these people?

Make a conclusion. (There are famous composers almost in every country, especially in the Czech Republic, Germany, Russia, Italy, Norway, the USA, Hungary, Austria, Poland and France.)

        - Nevertheless there are countries that are internationally known as musical countries. Discuss the question with the help of exercise 6.2) on page 45 in pairs.

        Listen to each other's opinions and agree or disagree. Use exer cise 6.3) on page 45.

        (In fact, Germany, Italy and Russia are considered to be musical countries.)

        - Prepare an interview with any three persons you like at home. Questions on page 57, exercise 2 will help you. Look through them, say if you understand them all. Add the questions about the famous classical composers there.
