Цели урока: «Изучение географического положения, государственной символики России и герба Тулы».

Задачи:

Образовательные:

-повышение познавательной активности учащихся и мотивации к изучению английского языка

-формирование коммуникативных умений по теме, умения аудировать с полным пониманием прослушанного, чтения с извлечением необходимой информации, вести диалог-расспрос, написания эссе с использованием опоры

Воспитательные:

-воспитание гражданственности, бережного отношения к Государственным символам родной страны и символу родного края, чувства любви к родному Отечеству

Развивающие:

Facts about Russia.

Russia is the largest country in the world. It takes 1)                         hours to cross it by plane!

A train journey from Moscow to Vladivostok on the Transsiberian Express takes six days!

Russia has 10 time zones. When people in Kaliningrad are having 2)                               people in Vladivostok are going to bed!

Russia stretches from the Baltic Sea in the West to the Pacific Ocean in the East and From the Northern Arctic Ocean to the deserts of Central Asia.

Russian rivers are long. The Volga is the longest river in Europe.

Russia has a wide range of scenery and climates, too. It has harsh winters with lots of 3)                          , but the summers are quite warm. The temperature is +20 to -25C.

Lake Baikal is 636 km 4)                                    and80 km wide. It is the world’s biggest fresh water reservoir. The water is very 5)                                    .you can see the bottom of the lake through 30-40 m of water.

Mount Elbrus (18,481ft/5,633m), in the Caucasus 6)                                         range, is the highest peak in the country.

Steppes cover all of the south of Russia, from the Black Sea to the Altai Mountain on the Chinese border. Some of the steppes have rich 7)                                 soil.

Almost 8)                         per cent of Russia is tundra. There aren’t any trees there. It is frozen for most of the year. Reindeer live there.

Taiga is a thick forest with a lot of dark pine, fir, and cedar 9)                           .Many species of wildlife live there.

The Russian Flag

The Russian flag first appeared in 1668. It was the symbol of Russia for more then 300 years. It reappeared as the modern flag in 1991. The flag has three wide stripes on it. The colours of the flag are symbolic. White is faithful and sincere, blue is honest and loyal and red is brave. When Russian people celebrate their national holidays you can see the national flag in the streets, squares, official buildings, blocks of flats and houses in big cities, small towns and villages.

The Double-Headed Eagle

The double-headed eagle is the emblem of Russia. Above the heads there are three crowns. The eagle carries a scepter, the sign of state power, and an orb, the sign of unity. You can see St George on the breast of the eagle. It is the oldest Russian symbol of love for the Motherland.

You can also see the eagle on the back of modern Russian coins.

Town Emblem of the Tula Region

Here is the new town emblem of the Tula region.

The first Tula emblem was adopted in 1778 and it was renewed last year.

We can see

                     the crossed silver blades,

                     two golden hammers on the red background

                     with the red ribbon around.

         There is the golden crown above the emblem. It reminds us of the period when the Russian tsar Peter I made Nikita Demidov responsible for building the first gun-making plants in Tula.

    The crossed silver blades connected with the historical Kulikovo battle of 1380.

    The red ribbon reminds that in 1957 the Tula region was awarded the Order of Lenin for the achievements in agriculture.

    The golden hammers symbolize the glorious traditions of Tula craftsmen.

      So, Town’s Emblem symbolizes Tula as a forge of arms and the defender of the Motherland.
