  2. repeat the using of grammatical structure “there is/are; there was/were;
  3. listen and understand the text.

You had a home task to describe a picture at page 49. Are you ready? Well, we’ll return to it later.

  1. Фонетическая зарядка.

T:  Let’s do some phonetic drills. Let’s remember a little kid’s rhyme:

                “I’m looking for a house”,-

                 Said the little brown mouse.

                “With one room for breakfast,

One room for tea, one room for supper

                And that makes three.

                One room to dance in,

                When I give a ball,

                A kitchen and a bedroom –

                Six rooms all.”

T: What is this poem about?

P1: This poem is about mouse that is looking for a house.

T: How many rooms does the mouse want to have?

P2: It wants to have six rooms.

T: What is each room for? Let’s read this poem all together.(Pupils read the rhyme)

  1. Речевая разминка.

T: And what about you? How many rooms are there in your house?

T: Do you have the room of your own?

P1: Yes, I do. It is small, but very comfortable and cozy.

  1. Развитие монологической речи.

  1. Активизация лексики по теме.

2. An armchair        b). a comfortable seat with raised arms and back wide        enough for 2 or 3 people.

  1. Активизация грамматического материала.

T: Now, let’s remember the using of the grammatical structure “there was/were”. We use “there was/were” to show presence or absence of a subject or subjects in the definite place in the past. At the blackboard you can see some sentences in which you should fill in the blank words “was” or “were”:

1). There ______ a round table next to the sofa.

2). There ______ five roses in the vase.

3). In my bedroom there _______ a computer.

4). My bedroom is cozy because there _______ beautiful pink curtains on the window.

5). There ______ a bed in the corner of the room.

VII.       Развитие навыков аудирования.

T: You’ve done grammatical task brilliantly, next task is to listen the text. You have the picture of the living room on your desks. It helps you to understand the text. Well, listen to the text attentively and then answer some questions and tell if the statements are true or false.

“My living room is large and light. There are three windows in it. Between two windows there is a clock on the wall. There are two sofas in the room. One sofa is at the window, another one is opposite the fireplace. There is a round table in the middle of the room and square table is next to the white sofa. There is an armchair in the corner of the room. There are two pictures on the wall. There are two lamps here. I like a living room because we often spend our evenings together with my parents here.”

Now, answer my questions according to the text:

T: Are there 2 windows in the room?

P1: No, there are 3 windows in the room.

T: What is there in the corner of the room?

P2: There is an armchair in the corner of the room.
