Внеклассное мероприятие по английскому языку

«Музыкальный ринг»

для учащихся 8-9 классов

Ход урока

Teacher: Dear friends! Today we’ll have a musical competition. Уou will show your knowledge of English songs and singers, guess melodies, put down lyrics of the songs suggested and what not! Are you ready?

Before we start you have to be divided into two groups. Think of the name for your group. OK, let it be “Penguins” and “ Zebras”.

Warm up

To begin with, name your associations with the word Music

(0n the blackboard there is a  drawing of the sun, on each ray write the word-association).

Guess -  game

So, your first contest will be “Guess the melody”. Each group in turn will hear a song and try to guess:

  1. what song it is (1 point)
  2. who the performer is (1 point)

(Each group is given 4 melodies. In my case they were Cold Play, Mika, Queen, Scorpions, Elton John ,J. Timberlake, Eagles, Chr. Aguillera)

Putting down the words (lyrics)

If you like the song, do you look up words or just put them down while listening? Now each group will listen to the song suggested and write down the words.

(The teams are given “Let  It Be” ( Beatles ) and “Bang-Bang” by Nancy Sinatra (from “Kill Bill”)

(The jury are given the lyrics of the two songs. The team who have put down more words win – 10 points. The other team gets from 0 to 5 points, all depends on the number of words written down).

Karaoke

 Teacher: I believe you all like Karaoke singing. Now you are given a chance to do it here and win. Each team is given the words of a song: Money, Money (“Abba”) and Girl (“Beatles”). (The words are given on the screen and on paper as well).

You have some time to listen to the melody to practice a bit.

(The teams in turn sing their songs and get points from 1 to 5).

I work all night, I work all day,  to pay the bills I have to pay

 Ain't it sad?

 And still there never seems to be a single penny left for me

 That's too bad.

 In my dreams I have a plan

 If I got me a wealthy man

 I wouldn't have to work at all,

 In the rich man's world

 Money, money, money always sunny in the rich man's world

 Aha-ahaaa all the things I could do

 If I had a little money, it's a rich man's world

A man like that is hard to find

 But I can't get him off my mind

 I bet he wouldn't fancy me

 That's too bad

 So I must leave, I'll have to go to Las Vegas or Monaco

 And win a fortune in a game, my life will never be the same...

 Aha-ahaaa all the things I could do

 If I had a little money, it's a rich man's world (2 times)

Girl (Beatles)

Is there anybody going to listen to my story

All about the girl who came to stay?

When I think of all the times I've tried so hard to leave her

Was she told when she was young that pain would lead to pleasure?

Clips

Teacher:

Now I suggest listening to the professionals how they do it. (Clips are shown on the screen performed by the groups “Abba” and “Beatles”).

Prepared presentations

Teacher: Your home assignment for this lesson was to prepare information and clips of your favourite group (singer). The jury will estimate your task giving you points from 1 to 10.

Conclusion

Teacher: We have come up to the end of the lesson. Now the jury will announce their decision. We congratulate the winners and wish good luck to those who haven’t been so lucky. See you later.
