                                       BELGORODIA: BELGOROD AND BELGOROD REGION.

                                   КОНСПЕКТ ИНТЕГРИРОВАННОГО УРОКА ПО ГЕОГРАФИИ НА АНГЛИЙСКОМ ЯЗЫКЕ (9 КЛАСС).

                        ЦЕЛЬ УРОКА:  совершенствовать знания по теме;

                                                     отработать навыки работы с картами и таблицами на английском языке;

                        ЗАДАЧИ УРОКА:

Ход   урока

Teacher: Hello, my dear students! We continue our series of integral studies of geography. Today we’re going to do the interesting trip throughout Belgorodia. Our lesson is devoted to the history of founded of Belgorod region, geographical position and industrial base of it. I hope you will have a nice time. Let’s go on!

Teacher: First of all we’ll revise the pronunciation some geographical conceptions:

REGION, BELGORODIA, LOCATED, RAILWAYS, HIGHWAYS, BORDER, POPULATION, THOUSAND, CENTURY, BUILDING, CLOSELY CONNECTED,SCIENTIFIC, EDUCATIONAL, OFFICIAL ESTALISHMENT,ENGINEERING, MINING EQUIPMENT.

Now  Dasha tell us general knowledge of our little motherland.

Belgorod Region occupies 27.1 thousand square km. Belgorodia is one of 89 subjects of the Russian Federation. It consists of 21 districts, 10 region city and 1592 rural population localities. There are 60 nationalities on the territory of our region. The population of towns is 65%, the rural population is 35%. Each district has got the own emblem which you can see on the board.

Belgorodregion with the main city of Belgorod is located in the South European part of the Russian Federation in the Central Black Earth area at an important of rail ways and highways. It borders on Kursk and Voronezh regions and the Ukraine.

The name “Belgorod” in English means “ White City” as it is situated on large deposits of chalk/ the population of the city is close to 450 thousand. It is an ancient Russian city founded by Slavonic tribes in the 10^th  century as an outpost to defend the southern borders of the Russian State.

The beginning of 2004 marked the 50^th Anniversary since the official establishment  of Belgorod region with a population of more than 1.5 mln  people.

 The region has more than 40.5% of iron ore deposits of Russia. The powerful mining and smelting complex makes the basis of the region’s economy. Thanks to rich fertile soils a vast agricultural complex has grown. Belgorod region is one of the major producers of sugar beet and sugar in the country. Grain, sunflower seed and oil, meat and milk are also produced here. Other developed industries include engineering, boiler manufacturing, chemicals, mining equipment machinery, as well as building materials. These products are in demand on the domestic market and are exported to more than 30 countries. I hope you’ll answer next questions:

At the end I can add some words about a communication system and perspective of development of the region. Well developed railway and highway networks, an international airport and an excellent communications system make Belgorod region one of Russia’s ten most attractive regions for investments.

The particular geographical location of the region has a great impact on its potential  for recreation and tourism. On the one hand, it is close to the capital (400 miles to the south of Moscow); and the other hand, it is close to the traditional and popular resorts of the Crimea, the Caucasus, the Azov and Black Seas.

What kind of business can develop here and why?
