Lesson 3. The game “I love my family”

Ход урока.

I.Организационный момент.

T: Good morning. Take your seats, please. How are you today? (We are fine, thanks.) Do you like the weather today? Why? (Yes, I do, because it’s snowing and quite warm today/winter comes; No, I don’t, because it’s very cold/windy/wet today.) How many lessons have you got today? (We’ve got 6 lessons today.) Oh, poor things! Dasha, what is your favourite school subject? (My favourite subject is History/Russian language/Mathematics/Physical culture/Informatics/Social studies.) Well done, thank you. Let’s start your lesson. As I promised, today we’ll have the game “I love my family” and check your knowledge on the topic “Family”. You should divide into two teams and name your team, for example “Sisters and bros”, “Clever guys” or “Experts”. What will be your teams’ names? There will be 3 tasks for you. If you do the task correctly, you’ll get points. The team, which has more points, will be the winner and get excellent marks. I wish you good luck. Don’t forget that you’re the team. Please, work together.

II.Активизация лексических навыков по теме “Family relationships”.

T: The first task is called “Lotto”. I gave you the cards, where you can see the Russian word combinations, and the set of chips. I’ll read the words in English and you should put the chip on the Russian meaning of the word. Do you understand the task? You’ll get 1 point for 1 right word. Are you ready? Okay, let’s begin to play.

1) to look out for somebody                        присматривать за кем-либо

2) to look alike                                             быть похожим

3) to find out                                               узнавать (что-либо, о ком-либо)

4) to get on somebody’s nerves                   действовать на нервы

5) to make up with                                       помириться, подружиться снова

T: Are you ready? Do you like the task? Well, let’s check your results. The first team has … right words, so they get … points. The second team has … right answers, so they get … points. The … team is leading now. Well done!

III.Развитие аудитивных навыков. Тренировка лексических навыков.

T: The next task is “Guess the missing words”. Each team has 4 sentences. I’ll read them once and you should fill in the missing words. You’ll get 1 point for 1 right sentence. Are you ready to compete? Let’s begin to listen to.

The 1st team          

1. My mother has 3 sisters, so I have 3 (aunts).
2. There are only 2 rooms in our flat, so I have to (share) a room with my brother.
3. I get along well with my brother. We never (fight).
4. Charlotte and Peter have a little girl, Elizabeth. She is my (niece).                                                            

The 2nd team

1. I have many uncles, aunts and nephews, so I have got many (relatives).
2. My father’s father is my (grandfather). He’s got married nearly 50 years ago. His (wife) is my (grandmother).
3. My sister Charlotte is married. Peter is her (husband).
4. My (parents) mother and father are my best friends.

T: Let’s check your results. The 1st team gets … points, the 2nd - … points.

IV.Активизация навыков устной речи.    

T: And the last task for you is “Prove your opinion”. On the previous lesson we talked about the activities which unite or spoil family relationships, among them there is receiving guests. The 2nd team should prove that it’s the activity which unites the family; the 1st team - … which spoils family relationships. (Учащиеся получают 3 минуты на раздумье, после чего выступают представители каждой из команд. За хороший, аргументированный ответ команды получают 5 баллов). So, the 1st team gets … points for the answer, and the 2nd team - … points. Let’s count your points for all tasks.

The 1st team has … points. Well done!

The 2nd team has … points. I’m proud of you!

And the winner of the game is the … team. My congratulations! You get excellent marks. The … team, don’t worry. You get good marks. Well done! The bell rings. The lesson is over. Goodbye! See you tomorrow.
