Ход урока

I. Организационный момент.

Good morning! I’m glad to see you.  Today we’ll have a competition. We have two teams. You’ll get points for these tasks. ( Раппорт дежурного). We will do different tasks: do crosswords, match the characters and the authors, speak about favourite writes and poets, play guessing games. Let’s do phonetic drills.

II.Фон. зарядка.

When speaking your mind
or making your choice.

T: Today we are going to speak about one of the most wonderful things in the world. Well, try to guess what it is. It has no mouth, but speaks. It is not alive, but it can be a good friend. It is not a tree, but it has leaves. What is it?(слайд1)

P: It’s a book.

T: Right it’s a book. A wise man said: „Life without books is as a tree without leaves.” Do you understand this quotation?

P: I think life without books looks as poor and unhappy as a tree without leaves.

 (ствол дерева без листьев – презентация слайд 2).

Появляются листья со словами обозначающие литературные жанры (презентация слайд 3).

1 task.  Write the genres of the books. What genres of the books do you know?

2 task.  Let’s do crosswords.

3 task.  Write the names of the characters of the books.  

4 task. Let’s have a guessing game.

5 task. Match the characters with their authors.

   III.      Speaking.

T: Pupils, answer some questions:

1. Do you like to read books?
2. Is reading important?
3. How often do you read books?
4. What is your favourite book?
5. Who is your favourite writer?
6. What books by this author have you read this year?

What kind of books do you like to read ?    

         Do you have many books at home?

         Where can you buy books?

         Is it possible for you to live without books?

         Who read  books  to you when you where a child?        

          Do you prefer to read English or Russian books?

 IV. Аудирование.

Now let’s have a guessing game. Listen to the beginnings of different kinds of stories and try to guess what story it is.

(слушают тексты два раза, затем определяют жанр рассказа).

The man lay on the ground next to white van. There was no drought. He was dead. I quickly looked in his jacket- some money, a handkerchief and a theatre ticket with a Chicago phone number written on it. Three murders in three weeks and the victims all killed in the same way.

Once upon a time a long, long time ago there lived a beautiful princess. She was an only child and her father and mother, the king and the queen loved her very much. One day, an old woman came to the castle. When she saw the princess, she smiled and laughed in a strange and horrible way.

6 task. Read and translate these paragrafs.

VI. Развитие навыков монологической речи

Now some curious facts about books ( слайд 7).

The invention of paper played a very important part in the development of books. In the 11th century the art of papermaking reached Europe but no trace of printing was found in Europe until 1423. It is known that Johann Gutenberg secretly tried out ways of printing in Strasbourg, Germany, in 1440.

         The first person to print books in the English language was William Caxton, in Russia – Ivan Fedorov.

         The first book printed in the Russian language appeared in Moscow on the first of March, 1564. Up to that time there were only handwritten books in Russia.

7 task. Speaking about favourite writes and poets.

VIII. Развитие речевых навыков и умений.

T: During our lesson you can meet not only the characters of different books but also some English writers. (на слайде появляются портреты английских писателей) Chose an author as you chose a friend.

William Shakespeare is the greatest and most famous of English writers and probably the greatest playwright who has ever lived.

IX. Заключительный этап урока.
